Usually though if a guy charges 300 for an hour he'll do 500 for two. At least in my experiences. I'm starting to ask more about a 90 min rate. If a guy wants 300 for an hour I'll ask if he'll do 400 for 90 min.

I have a firm upper spending limit of $500/2 hr. The recent hikes in prices have given me reasonable incentive to find less expensive FWB alternatives. Sorry, but that’s just the reality of it. I used to hire several times a month but now I am hiring about once a quarter

I would never make am offensive comment to a provider, and wouldn’t expect providers to tolerate it. Maybe I’m crazy, but I’ve always thought that respect and courtesy are extremely sexy. 

Have met him.  He is not the guy in the pics although he is cute and similar build to the guy in the pics.  However youll be hard pressed to get a full hour out of him.  Our session was very rushed. 

Bump.  I don't know any locals who have met him but do know he seems to change his profile location continuously, but all within the metro area.        

Does it not occur to you that some masseurs might be  genuinely attracted to men who are their client ? 
I've had masseurs who I see regularly who would occasionally  meet up for a shag off the clock.

I agree with you. Why bother with straight men or the undecided? There is no shortage of gay men or men who voluntarily offer their services for cash. I believe sexual dealing with a straight man is a disaster waiting to happen. When I see a man advertising on rentmen who declares he's straight, my brain yells "NEXT!!"

Interesting.  Lately, I have been receiving more solicitations from escorts and masseurs I hired before, with discount offers.  That didn't happen before.

I agree with everything Public Assistance has said and with the consensus that the OP screwed up bigtime: (1) it was exceedingly rude to cancel a 3 hour session for this reason, as the provider has surely relied on your promise to arrange his day; (2) it is not unusual for either the client or the provider to arrive 15 minutes late, and the common sense approach is to call/text and see if the other party can adjust; (3) the OP's question reflects entitlement and presumptuousness.  
On (3), the proper question is whether the provider will see the OP again.  IMHO, the OP should offer an advance payment for one of the hours he cost the provider earlier.  A sign of good faith, plus it is fair.  Then if the provider would be willing to see the OP, pay the normal rate.

We are talking about a provider who booked THREE HOURS of his schedule with the expectation of being paid for those three hours that day.  A cancellation right before a three hour appointment, will very likely prevent this young man from having any income that day.
A provider cancelling on a client generally doesn't cost them anything unless they've booked a hotel especially for the occasion.

Give the provider another chance??!!  No, he's the one who decides whether to give YOU another chance!  You screwed up his schedule and rudely cancelled last minute. You owe him an apology, a late cancel fee, and some humble pie. 

I doubt he would give YOU a second chance, after you disrespected his time and schedule, and you continue to turn a blind eye to how selfish you are being.

You’re assuming he could schedule another session at the last minute. First, depending on location, time of day, etc. a provider doesn’t always have a bunch of offers that he can just pick from. Then there’s timing… you cancelled minutes before the session? Unless they are really close to the provider, don’t need to shower first, etc. that’s not enough time to line someone else up and get them there in all but rare cases. Third… a 3 hour session. Most sessions are an hour. Now you expect the client to be able to find someone for a 3 hour session with almost no notice?
Common sense says you let the provider know you’re stuck in traffic and will be 15 minutes late. Ask if starting and ending the session 15 minutes late is a problem. Most (good) providers aren’t stacking one appointment immediately after the first one, or making plans with friends right after. They need time between to get cleaned up, etc. If the later end time is a problem, ask if you can start 15 minutes late but end on time for the same price. 15 minutes is only about 8% of 3 hours, you’re not losing out much, and lesson learned to leave more time for traffic.  
Quite frankly, I’m not sure this is the entire story, since I can’t figure out who would 1.) wait until the last minute to cancel, and 2.) wouldn’t think to see if a late arrival was a problem before cancelling. I suspect there’s more to the story.

Hindsight is 20/20, of course, but the best plan would've been to not cancel and turn your appointment into 2:45 instead of 3:00. Cancelling a three-hour meet minutes before the start was not good and I understand the provider's anger. In fact, some here would pay the provider a cancel fee of some amount. 
You may want to try to contact the provider, apologize, offer some amount, and hope he'll meet you again.  

Lately, when I run into the $400-$500 rates... I let the provider know that my budget is $300.  On occasion I've popped up to $350 but find that I tend to tip less at the higher rate.

my experience is 300 is the standard rate.   Some of the 'super hot' guys may charge 400 but they lose my business and my tip as well. 
 
 

Met him a few months ago.   Pics are accurate. First, he is not a masseur.  Secondly he is not good at escorting either.  We had an agreed rate for a specific list of services before I booked.  When I arrived he wanted the 250 first, then proceeded with a half assed attempt at what we agreed upon.  It was over in less than 30 minutes for a booked hour.  When I got home I was still less than happy and sent him a reasonably worded text explaining my disappointment.  His response was the I didn't pay enough.  I should have paid an extra 100 for the Deluxe BFE package.  Told him I didn't know what that was but he did agree on a rate for what we did.  He said if I wanted to try him again I could pay the Deluxe rate and see what he's really like.  I have not reviewed him on RM and obviously I have not returned to "try him again".

Met him today in Detroit.  Hands of gold.  Will leave you relaxed and rejuvenated.  Easy to book, great communicator, delivered as promised and is so easy on the eyes.  Some people look better in person and he's one of them. I actually agree with your viewpoint. Since there is no amount of money that you could pay me to become a massage therapist, I feel that I should tip masseurs that go above and beyond. However, I also do not believe that any of us should feel obligated to tip a masseur because of what you mentioned about the tipping culture in the US and should be left to an individual's discretion without the opinion or judgment of others. 

No tip required unless they go above and beyond what is expected or agreed upon.  They are self-employed and already set the rate so tipping is not required in my opinion.  That being said, I think the tipping culture in the US has gotten out of hand so maybe I'm the scrooge.  

The bulk of the profiles on Mintboys are fake, although a handful are real. I do not get the point of the site’s existence. 🤷🏻‍♂️
