  1. For me, the point of the piece is that we're being conditioned to shorter attention spans and greater impressionability . This will seem a diversion, but there's a point. Most of my career has been in MBA-type mgmt activities. Finance, statistics, business plans, general mgmt, etc. I took a 3-year detour mid career to work in a Fortune 500 Company marketing department. Oddly, I excelled, and implemented very successful promotional campaigns. But I hated the work. Felt ashamed. Because I simply couldn't believe people were so easily influenced. So impressionable. I moved on, back to business. Now, at the end of my career, and with much more life experience , I recognize that my attitudes weren't only mistaken, they were the polar opposite of reality. People are exceptionally impressionable. Herd mentality affects so much. And people won't consume info that requires any more than the briefest consideration. Watch a few old movies and consider editing... entertainment today occurs in shorter clips. During the 2016 election, I pointed out to several friends that they were sharing/reposting Facebook stories where the cover photo didnt match the story content. I asked if they'd read what they shared, and they not only replied that they hadn't, but were adamant that no one was expected to read what they shared. We're so impressionable, people cannot put down their phones. Its illegal to stare at a phone while driving in CA, and obviously stupid, but every one around me is driving while looking down at the phone in their lap. They can't stop at a signal without checking their device, as if a life saving email or world-shattering tweet might have arrived since they checked 60 seconds ago. San Francisco local legislators have introduced regs to prohibit pedestrian use of devices, as distracted walkers are making streets unsafe. I probably shouldn't bother- who in this day and age will take the time to read a lengthy post like this one? And, I can't help wondering... how many people will actually watch the entirety of Ted Koppel's piece before opining?
  2. This CBS Sunday Morning segment really resonated with me. There have been times I've wondered whether I'm alone in concerns regarding the subject matter of Ted Koppel's piece. Info-age alert: It's 9-minutes long and requires an attention span beyond today's norm.
  3. Put em in a bag, drive around town, and drop em in public trash receptacles. Or toss em in the dumpster behind a shopping center. Better yet... go into a chuch, kneel in a pew with them, then accidentally leave them behind when you depart.
  4. Received this email from RM today: Hello, We would like to inform you that due to some recently introduced legal requirements in your region, your "About Me" text was reviewed and may have been modified. It is now in accordance with the new rules! Be aware, that any text that promotes escort services or other services that may be interpreted as providing sexual acts in exchange for compensation is strictly forbidden, including information about rates or donations. It is not allowed to publish phone numbers, email addresses or external links, except personal websites. If you need any clarifications, please contact us. Thank you for your understanding! Your RentMen team ___________________________ I've looked through my "About Me". I admit, I'm not certain I remember everything that was there. As best I can tell, they've eliminated anything that could be interpreted as an indicator of business transactions. There was never anything about a sexual act in my profile. Nor any mention of money. Examples. I have a two-part list: "Seeking:" followed by a list of attitudes and non-sexual acts I like. Followed by a list of attitudes, actions I don't like. Seeking and the full list remains. The list of don'ts appears intact.... but the list-label is gone. Not sure, but I think it was Deal Breakers. I also had a few sentences referring to activities & attitudes that is gone. Nothing about sexual acts. More about customer service or the level of effort the pro might need provide. Sorta: "I ask alot of questions, am very thorough in planning, but once decided, I'm likely to require minimal effort on your part." Maybe I had a keyword in there such as hired, or client? Don't recall. I had no phone or website info. I think they're getting nervous and broad in interpretations. Protecting the site by removing references to business, which is consistent with removal of any price info. I guess they're trying to make it look like a dating site?
  5. I enjoyed it. I thought the set and choreography was great for a concert version. I didnt care for the way they designed the 39 lashes. 39 extras running and leaping, smacking his ropes, didn't quite work, and distracted rather than building tension. The lead guitarist who opened the show looked to be about 11 years old. I wondered if he's in School Of Rock. Wednesday, there was a special re: ALWebber, and they showed the School Of Rock youngsters performing Phantom numbers, with Webber commenting on their talents and versatility. I thought the entire cast was excellent, with the exception of Ben Daniels as Pilate. He handled the dream well, but neither of his big songs. In many ways, I thought it was the best of all of the live musicals Ive seen on TV. And it reminded me of how much I liked the score.
  6. No ad now
  7. Its been in previews at every movie Ive seen since January. That includes every Oscar best pic nominee, Love Simon, Black Panther and more. Looks different. Interesting And the cast list (voices) at the end of the preview is hella-impressive
  8. I will watch. But wow, I am sick of the promos. The special Thurs night for Andrew Lloyd Webber's birthday.... was half a review of his productions, half an infomercial for Sunday .
  9. This story, the judge is still reviewing before issuing a ruling, made the morning news here in the Bay Area. News channel also did a poll. 80% of respondents said research, ruling, printed warning, will have no effect on their coffee consumption. There's supposedly some correlation between roasting and the carcinogen.... darker=worse. Im about to put down my tablet and go set the coffeemaker timer for tomorrow morning. French Roast.
  10. Have a favorable opinion. Theres a similar Trident Society in my region, and Ive requested info.
  11. In the original finale.... they're back in the un-updated home. Roseanne, in her basement writing-room, reveals shes been writing about them. Becky really married David, Darlene really married Mark Dan died They didnt win the lottery.... it was an author's device. So, I guess they needed to deal with Dan being alive. They're apparently not going to address the revelation Darlene married Mark, not David. Its inconsistent... but its TV fiction. Bobby Ewing returned from the dead, many things on LOST were never explained, etc. Audiences will accept most any plotlines ... if the entertainment value is present.
  12. Morning. And after cardio workouts if Im going to have any human interaction.
  13. I found the show disappointing. I enjoyed the original. The reboot felt flat. Poorly acted, as if they were just going through the motions. Relying on laughs at old behaviors that are no longer outrageous. No mention of David's character or why Darlene is alone; the pre-airing hype indicates he'll show up infrequently. A poorly written explanation of Mark's recent death and Becky's reaction. They even got the couch wrong.... after showing the old sofa in all of the teasers, its a similar item, but not the same one. No big deal, except, dont mislead in promos with a voice over "same sofa." I'm batting zero on revival predictions. I thought Will & Grace would seem stale and irrelevant, and Im finding it funny and well done. And I had high hopes for a Roseanne reboot, but was disappointed. Sometimes first episodes aren't the best representation of a show.... I'll watch for at least a few more episodes.
  14. As a client.... my expectations of a live video session are identity-confirmation. Nothing more. Proof the pro matches the promotional pics. Generally that means face. I can imagine a client wanting confirmation of a particular attribute; a quick peek at abs if they are expecting shredded muscle... or a hairy chest, or???. Things that can be or could have changed..... age, weight, general appearance. Its a preferable version of the 3-fingered selfie... nothing more. My experience.... less than 60-seconds. I dont think its reasonable for a client to expect camera-ready grooming, or a view of "private parts." Nor should they expect any significant length of time.... if a cam session is what they seek, offer to set up a Chaturbate account and schedule a private. Youve already noted the prevalence of time-wasters. Add the inexplicable need of some people to see and collect dick-pics. Lastly, dont make anything available that could possibly hamper your future, even in unimaginable circumstances 20 years hence. So, to answer the question: "I can do a quick facetime to confirm Im the same guy in my ads. Will that work?"
  15. I pay very little attention to RM reviews. I occassionally notice a negative review and interpret as a bad indicator. I give zero credence to positive RM reviews. I rely on Daddy's and this forum. And occassionally take a chance on the un-reviewed.
  16. LOL file already deleted. And I have no cloud accounts... so Im pretty confident it wont be broadcast. Besides, it would be OnlyScreams....
  17. By me Bought a webcam to identify visitors. Went the budget route, so bought a little wifi cam, with motion detection, to set up in the window near my front door. Except, wanted to test the motion detection. So I temporarily moved it to my bedroom. Moved around the room, etc.... to test. The phone rang. I got distracted. Passed the cam a few times, mental note to move to window.... forgot. Stripped, went to bathroom to shower, returned, dressed, then noticed the cam. I hadn't been monitoring online, but it has an SD card. Pulled the card, viewed on PC. OMG! Amazing things, our brains. To show me one person every morning in the mirror, and someone else entirely on a video screen. We all know some version of not really seeing ourselves in the mirror. Catch an unexpected glimpse walking by a mirror outside the home. A candid photo, a video from a party. This was different! I have a new appreciation for those concerned with being surreptitiously recorded. tried to think of an appropriate category for this experience. Sorta Friday Funny...... maybe I shoulda started Sunday Scary.
  18. 100% speculation: I assume the M4RN was a combo of factors. In the one year I paid attention, I watched M4RN advertisements dwindle. For the SFBay Area, which is probably a bigger market. While there were 3 pages of ads (mobile, tablet) a year ago, there was only one page last week. And so, I assume with business-failure likely anyway, they chose not to fight the coming battles. Even minimal legal expenses to respond to government inquiry wouldn't have been worth it. Or the effort to save a failing biz. I repeat, however, I don't know, just assume.....
  19. Ive had a regular pick up the check at mealtime.... but no other gifts.
  20. I got an RM msg from Jeremy Lee telling me he'll be in SF. Based on previous contact/interest many months ago. I thought it showed good organization and marketing skills. Nothing to report regarding in-person experiences.
  21. IMPACT is one of the most abused words in our language. The media use it because its more colorful, punchier..... no pun intended. Its also popular because lazy minds need not decide between effect and affect. By dictionary definition, they're really not interchangeable.
  22. I had a co-worker who responded to "to be honest" with, "aren't you always honest?" Her reaction really heightened my awareness of it's use. I never say it. To be honest has become a very common phrase to convey emphasis, or potentially impolite. I'll use frankly, or candidly, or to be clear.
  23. I really enjoyed Chef's Table. Ill try it. If its like original series, will probably stick with it. I enjoy some mindless white-noise TV here and there
  24. So, this appears on Craigslist: I'm a big SF Giants fan. Good seats are mega-costly. So I contacted him. Said I'd meet. But he responds only to re-state his requirement for a full body pic. It's such a peculiar post, it made me turn-off my usual BS Radar.... yet I can't stop thinking, "is this just a creative twist on the efforts made by the pathetic pic-collectors who populate the internet?"
  25. Cant claim many visits, but at least 4 or 5. It was clean. Smell of chlorine was powerful, but, hey..... One of the most startling experiences I ever had with a rentguy was at Hot Tubs .... someone jiggling the doorknob, forcing their key, trying to enter our room, as we yelled ... the wrong room for them. Locks weren't very good, and they forced the door open. .. we were on the massage table which was adjacent the door. We yelled, customer was startled, manager came running, we were left alone.... The whole experience was probably less than 30 seconds. But its what I remember most vividly about that place .
