  1. Marriott took over the holiday inn in union square. Great location. Added benefit of proximity to NobHill Theatre, which should be a good source of clientele. There was a time NobHill lodged their headliners at that Holiday Inn. I havent been in the rooms since visiting with NHT performers... but Marriott's probably upgraded some.
  2. The advice to not stay at Fishermans Wharf is good. Try the Union Square area.... or Nob Hill. Anything along Market Street, or in the Financial District would work for clients' access. Although its been years, my recommendation for a San Francisco getaway is Hotel Majestic in Pacific Heights. But probably not advisable for hosting.
  3. Regarding RISE: I've arrived at the hypothesis.... someone at NBC/Comcast has a passion for broadway, and any series NBC tries related to the Broadway genre will fail. SMASH Grease: your the one that I want RISE
  4. Just as additional info... I have no personal or discretion-based concerns about Lobby meets. I actually prefer it. In addition to possible security enhancement and identity/photo-accuracy verification, I just like the extra anticipation of watching how a guy carries himself walking through the public space. Its just that, 12+ years ago, and earlier, several guys hesitated at the idea of meeting me in tbe lobby, and a few said "never mind." Perhaps I successfully avoided some scammers......
  5. I cut way back on traveling for the past 10 years, but now becoming more active. Historically, there came a soft knock on my hotel room door, meaning my guest had arrived. And, if I stayed on a limited access floor, or if they heightened security at night, a rentguy balked at the need to meet in the lobby, casino, or.....? I was in Las Vegas recently. Returning soon. No access to elevators without a guest room key. I'm sure heightened security is affecting more than LV.... (Here in SF, 5+ years now, no access to any business office high rises without employee ID or security check-in.) So I'm wondering how or where rentguys prefer to meet hotel clients when they can't just go directly to the room. And, similar question for hotel hosting when security restricts clients' access to hotel rooms.
  6. Different interpretations. There is no absolute correct when dealing with opinions. If I get great friendly service and delicious food in a sparkling clean diner.... isn't that 5-star? I tend to think of review sites based upon my expectations, and whether they were met, or exceeded. Ive only written a few on TripAdvisor, and I tried to be thorough in explanations and details. I use Yelp alot. Ive given 5-stars to food trucks, and less to Michelin Star restaurants that were excellent but didn't wow me.
  7. Lets review this timeline. Injured at end of Saturday matinee... thats probably 3:30ish? No show 8 pm same day. And people are questioning "show-must-go-on" and "trouper". What needed to occur in the four hours between matinee finale and decision-time regarding evening performance? "Uh oh, call the lawyers." An ER visit? Xrays? Time for possible swelling, evaluation? Treatment/taping/boot-fitting? Discussion with actor, cast, crew... "can you stand? Walk?" "How can we adjust staging?" Assessment of understudy readiness? Consideration of ticket-holders.... an awareness that the sooner is better than later when cancellation is possible?

Its only worth doing whats compatible with your frame of mind. Im trying a new attitude regarding Grindr, Scruff, etc. Installed only when traveling. Not taken seriously, certainly not relied upon. While I found them frustrating when first used from home, I found them mildly interesting in LV. And they felt less like total futility. So, with that attitude, I had a decent chat or two, felt I did have opportunities, and was intrigued by just how many guys were within 300 feet of me wherever I was on the Strip. Going back to the strip in 2 weeks to exploit some great freebie promotions from casinos... room, food, some freeplay, even the resort fee. Off strip became undesirable for me when strip casinos began charging to park. Im sure Ill reload the apps for the trip. As of now, no one on RM really interests me; maybe when I get there. Considered bringing in someone Ive seen before, but thats not working out and would be a lengthy separate post.
  9. It's very rare that anyone online in any social media forum has the full story. Everyone is an authority on everything.... even if that authority is a qualified "IMHO" What Ive gleaned from the past year.... take RM reviews with a big grain of salt.
  10. What/when is Flamingo's gay pool night? Headed to LV soon. Dont see it on their pool website calendar.
  11. From the doublelist homepage: Due to the recent shutdown of some sites, we have been experiencing an influx of illegal posters on the site. As these posters are trying to find a new place to post, we are working hard 24-7 to permanently remove and block them. Please report any illegal activity to us, and please flag all illegal posts! Thank you. Read our full notice here about the security changes we will be rolling out soon.
  12. As a suburbanite, Ive stopped wasting time on the apps. Mostly. But when I will be spending time in SF, or if traveling, I reload the apps. The activity level is significant when in those locales. If I was looking for hookups, and wasnt choosy, I believe I could accomplish my goal. Maybe that's rationalization..... I used to meet guys frequently from craigs, and in the internet dark-ages,from AOL and some IRCs. I met a guy in the 90s. I dont remember his specifics - not a name, not appearance - but I remember him telling me "my grandmother says 'anyone can get married if they'll marry anyone.'" That line, and variations, has always stuck with. And I believe its relevant. Anyone can get a hookup on an app if they'll hookup with anyone.
  13. I think the potential clients are not paying attention. Classic motivation-driven-by-the-wrong-brain. I see the travel plans and dates clearly displayed on thumbnails and full ads. Phone, tablet and PC. I understand why constantly clarifying schedule would be burdensome. Its a shame, as it undermines the potential for advance scheduling with those who do pay attention.
  14. Dating yourself isn't such a bad idea. You're guaranteed that your date won't cancel or cheat, your date undoubtedly has compatible attributes, and you're associating with an excellent class of people!
  15. Maybe A4A is location specific. Like @Gar1eth, Ive had less success on A4A compared to any others. Even when filtering down to a very low standard... messages only, without any real chance to meet... Grindr and the other apps are better than A4A (more accurate to say they suck less.) When I initiate contact on A4A.... local or Pro.... I rarely get a reply. When the other guy initiates, 9 times out of 10, his profile is removed within a day... as A4A recognizes its a scammer.
  16. Meetup and groups is good advice. Ive had some success recently with the Surge app. Not alot... but I met a really nice guy and we're coordinating travel together soon - same destination and time, same hotel, etc. At least less of the Surge interactions are are about sex-only, and it feels like its slightly less flaky. None of the apps are great.... Id say Surge is 90% waste of time, whereas Grindr et al are 99% waste of time. I was in Vegas 2 weeks ago... and a few guys on Grindr actually said theyd meet for coffee or just hangout. Didnt happen, but by comparison to most Grindr interactions, it was refreshing.
  17. I notice that some guys just change their location as they move around. Some include travel plans in the text of their ads. And some use (what I assume to be) the travel plans feature/options within the program. Only this last choice integrates with the RM search features. As an advertiser, what are the pros & cons of these choices? I'm sure one consideration is the appearance of being local, so as not to be disregarded as a traveller when in a city. I know better than to hope for standardization by the advertisers... for everyone to use the travel plans feature. But, I will note that not using it works against securing my patronage. I'm making travel plans for the coming months... I can't see the options for guys who will be where I'll be, to make advance plans I will frequently use the visitors-only filter when looking in my home community, to see who's in town without scrolling through all of the locals I already know about. Just wondering if there's any reasons-in-common for rentguys' decisions regarding advertising location.
  18. One cannot adequately lower their expectations when using Grindr. No matter how little you expect, no matter how bleak the anticipation, the online stew of crotch-logic, anonymity and uncertainty will achieve new lows. http://cdn-webimages.wimages.net/04f861ca1e7769353065e7d62912f4a564bf0f.jpg?v=3
  19. Snarky question: Does Roseanne Barr genuinely have bad dental work, or are those horrible false teeth one of the makeup elements for the character's poor-white-trash image?
  20. Interested, as Ill be back there soon. Does the bullet signify something?
  21. Updating my Grindr profile Now it says No dick pics, No PNP, No Cash, No Rash, No Dine-and-Dash
  22. I wonder if that would work? Maybe someone on the forum works as waitstaff or restaurant management. I just assume that theres an unwritten contract between diners and a restaurant... that the bill gets paid in entirety by the table... regardless of which patron(s). But, perhaps Im mistaken
  23. Im getting these emails several times a week. Im curious about the LA clubs. A little more info regarding the setup, ongoings, clientele. My dancers experience is limited to NobHill THEATRE (and the closed Campus) in SF, Nobhill is theatre seating, no booze,no bar, simply a strip and audience lapdance for tips venue. Ive been a few places with gogo boys...but they were either perform-only at a distance,or on the bar for tips, but no real interaction. Ill be in LA in a couple of months,so wondering about the WeHo locations. Need no advice re dancer interaction... that behavior translates from NobHill..
  24. LOL! I dont know how to react to that. Its sorta funny. Happen to me? Probably not, because my initial meets with people are generally brief, coffee. Unlikely Id be eating a nice meal first meet. Happen on Grindr? Guys on Grindr are looking to satisfy their crotch or ass, not their stomach. More likely to get stuck for costs of lube than a meal. Or even stuck to the bedposts with handcuffs.
  25. Dont pay in advance. Dont pay for what wasnt provided.
