Well... maybe its the Surge app... or ??.. But its happened 3 more times since I created this post. I asked one guy directly.... and he said "they wanna catfish. Use fake profiles." Weird, he was sort of admitting.... although he wasnt claiming to be military. The tipoff is that he went from profile saying he was 15 miles away... to 2300 miles away, within 10 minutes. Apparently, they can manipulate reported location on Surge. I assume the request for my email is for ID theft initiation.

Tired of most of the Grindr and copycat apps... I'm trying one called Surge. Overall, I'm finding its much less about immediate hookups. But I'm experiencing one thing that makes me wonder. Most of the replies are locals. Looks: its an eye-of-beholder thing... but all across the range. Surge works by showing pics and profiles based on geography, and communication is possible only when both guys swipe-right and match. Lately, there are guys who are initially in my area in whom I indicate interest. They are younger, nice-looking, but not model-looks. Not the look we would associate with fake rentguys. Often have pics with children. They all eventually have profile changes indicating they're thousands of miles away. They say they're in the military, working through internet proxies because of military location-info restrictions. They want to come home to a relationship. Eventually, after some chat, they provide an email address and ask for mine, citing military restrictions on e*communications. My question: Is this a known scam? One I've just never heard or read about? Or something new? I haven't given and won't give my email contact. Im 99.9% certain they're not legit. Although it's disappointing to see military-service exploited, and to be presented with evidence that I'm so jaded that I won't believe some guys in military just want contact back home. Anyone know about this particular scam, of pretend military service to gain access to ?????

Tried finding it on video... cant. There was a great roleplay scene in WKRP In Cincinnati. All the guys try picking up Loni Anderson. Quotes Jennifer Elizabeth Marlowe : Hi guys! Andy Travis : Oh, what's your sign? Venus Flytrap : You live around here, mama? Johnny 'Dr. Fever' Caravella : Want a little action, sugar? Jennifer Elizabeth Marlowe : Well, Les, don't you have an opening line? Les Nessman : [Looks uneasy, then sits down and picks up a drink] Hi, I'm extremely wealthy. Jennifer Elizabeth Marlowe : Ooh.

Never heard of such. Not all casinos are on exclusive tribal lands. Its a complex series of laws that enables native americans to retain their rights and access to establish gaming facilities, even without having their own land. Of the five California casinos Ive patronized, only one is actually on tribal land. Two others are nearby their land, and two simply sit at the edge of suburban sprawl. Consider that, at least in Northern CA, the casinos are bigger and more lavish. Most have management relationships with Nevada gaming . They often have the nicest lodging and dining in the region. The few legal brothels in Nevada are, to the best of my knowledge, not big, fancy places generating mega-money. I dont understand all of the laws that permit the native american gaming exception.... but I dont think the same exception would be extended to prostitution. From a practical and cultural perspective, I dont think the tribes would anticipate much beyond exploiting their female youth. And local communities may be willing to have a casino in their area; American NIMBYs wont want a whorehouse in their community.

Based on thread title, I thought this was going to be a nursery rhyme Diddle Diddle Dumpling, My Guy John....

Although I'm not quite that unnerved, I recognize that the recent flurry of activity has heightened my awareness. Just returning from running an errand. There was police activity at a local "spa" 0.5 mile from me as I drove by. And I thought "there's more evidence, they're cracking down on the spas/massage parlors." And then, 30-seconds later realized.... wait, I have no idea why the police are there.... and even if they're busting illegal masseuse behavior, it has nothing to do with the intent of FOSTA. I'm responding irrationally. Lesson: time not to overreact, or jump to conclusions.

Ive been screened. When they're reasonable questions, related to services I may be seeking... Im ok with it. When it feels like Grindr, mutual attraction questions, or picture requests, I move on. I, too, love the photo of the dollar bill idea, although Id just cease communicating.

I am a lifelong yoyo dieter. Had success for a year, then failure - multiple times. One thing I recognized from all those cycles... there was something magic about starting and succeeding three days. And if I stuck with it 3 weeks, I stayed on program for a year. Tried a class last Fall. Not very helpful, overall . Sitting there, dietitian-facilitator says "the human body takes 21 days to adopt new patterns, form new norms or habits." What?!?! I thought it was just me, just a coincidence, perhaps my specific brain&physiology, for which three weeks is significant. But, nope.... there are actually valid studies about behavior change at 21 days. It was reassuring. (Except, who wants evidence that they're not unique?)

I wrote a lengthy post about bad gym membership experience, facility closing, etc.....and deleted it. Im working out at home. Bought an exercise bike . Using bands. My BP is down considerably. I liked the gym... it was a membership issue. I made excuses and procrastinated starting at home. But once started, motivation is taking care of itself. There are times in my cardio. .my knees hurt. my fat ass aches on the bicycle seat. I frequently make mental bargains in my head that "just this once, I'm gonna quit early." Somehow, I never do - always finish. I like reinforcement of entering everything I eat, weight, and exercise into Myfitnesspal app. Before using, I scoffed at fools and theur dependence on apps. The JUST DO IT thing works... at least for me. Once started, motivation is self-generating. Just start.

After a few years of Chris, Chris & Rachel every night, I also stopped watching MSNBC. While I wouldn't label it fake, the spin is dizzying. Two + two equals "here's why you should feel righteous indignation regarding this." But, I changed my overall news consumption pattern. I watch local news early morning. And tune into BBC and CNN for snippets throughout the day. Mostly, I prefer to read..... and seek out sources like Reuters, AP, etc. directly. I still love CBS for softer, more in-depth news stories every Sunday Morning.

Anyone else watching The Kennedys? I'm really enjoying it. Not learning anything new, perhaps a tidbit or two. But seeing new images, and its a nice linear perspective on the family.

Perhaps they've been advised that there's a legal distinction The warning message regards the TEXT in an ad. No prices or phone numbers in the ad "body." To access phone numbers, users click on "contact me." Perhaps there's a difference between relatively passive PUBLISHING of a phone number, and making it available on a data base in response to a user's ACTION. .....just a hypothesis....

Where do you advertise after next week?
LaffingBear replied to kevininsa's topic in Questions About Hiring
I wouldnt expect much from print. I used to rely on BAR. visit vegas, get the bugle. Etc. As the internet grew, BAR added ebar, an online edition. I would assume that with the current state of tech... theres one point of data entry for both print and online. Automatically. I'd expect the papers to be just as worried as any other online service regarding trafficking. Its been very common to say hello to someone ... whether craigs, or a grindr-clone, and for the reply to be some form of "gen?" If - big IF - RM goes, I expect the apps will be the new equivalent of street hustling. -
Clients must pay to connect on SA. I doubt SA can promise rentguys anywhere near the volume compared to RM.
-
I meant here. No Forum users mentioned/speculated about SA. I would never bother seeking an explanation for what government does. Thats clearly about re-election, satisfying lobbyists/donors, and attention, for politicians -- and demonstrating power or some convoluted crime-prevention through fear strategy for law enforcement.

Its interesting to me that no one is mentioning Seeking Arrangements. One could argue that Rentmen, Rentmasseur, Craigs, etc had advertisers that didnt offer sex or meet the definition of prostitution . There's the whole array of expectations on Seeking Arrangements, and surely some arrangements include sex. Perhaps its because a one hour or overnight fuck for cash is called prostitution, but a longer term arrangement is called "how Donald gets women."

Not sure. Might be my device. Might be temporary. Backpage in SFBay mens personals currently reporting "site can't be reached."

In Congressional hearings today, members of Congress informed Mark Zuckerberg of their intent to introduce even more anti-trafficking legislation. WASTA will make it a felony for people who traffick in wasted time on social media. Penalties will be most severe for Sharing every life activity separately, such as cab rides to the airport, flights, and artivals in new cities Posting pictures of every food item prepared and/or consumed Responding to, and sharing results of, three or more personality polls per day. Examples: what kind of precious gem would you be, what type of vegetable are you, what celebrity would star in the movie of your life Run-on tweets... lengthy messages sent in multiple, numbered tweets A strict annual limit will be imposed on posts regarding hairstyle changes and cute kittens Rather than prison or financial penalties, those found guilty will have their social media controlled, and will be forced to view never ending feeds of inane questions, or extraordinarily lengthy political rants. Its the end of the internet as we know it.

My review is very sparse due to the rentguy's desire for discretion. I'm a repeat customer. Infer what you will.

NYPD Sends a Chilling Message/Today's New York Post
LaffingBear replied to thickornotatall's topic in The Lounge
Ya know.... I wonder about the effects on creeps. To be clear..... its not a good term, but I'll use it for this post. Members of this forum, legit clients, and any rentguy knows that are there are "creeps" out there. How many forum users just peruse the threads and post comments regarding rentguys, but never have or will hire? How many "creeps" waste rentguys' time with questions, fake appointments, etc? Don't they have a right to be creeps? What law is he breaking when Peter Pathetic, an experienced creep, searches backpage, contacts rentguys, asks loads of questions, perhaps even requests appointments, all the while knowing he'll never follow through? He's certainly a jerk, but a criminal? Sounds like a bad episode of Law & Order SVU, when the defense attorney in court reveals his client is a creep, but had no intent. Except, its plausible. I even wonder if the Human Trafficking witch hunt will reduce creeps' activities. Probably not. And, as devil's advocate, if the legal system represses the creepy urges, what might be the creeps' response? They're not likely to just refrain. CREEPY!
