And Toyota announced a big increase for their factory workers.
I remember one of my favorite college professors who was anti-union said companies should be like P&G and treat their employees fairly and take care of them but try to keep the unions out.   He mentioned P&G being non-union but a great company to work for if you were hardworking.   Sounds like Toyota is a similar type company.

If they aren[t under a contract right now they may be able to move.   Not sure if any contracts in place have agreements requiring plants to remain in a state through a certain date or not.

Even if they move to a right to work state, if it's a former big three plant they would stiill have to use union labor and be under the UAW's contract.
Might make sense to move out of Michigan though for other reasons like lower taxes (especially if they can get tax abatements), utilities, needing new plants because the old one are obsolete, etc.

That's why I stick with Toyotas.   Never an issue with them like with my domestic cars, and the Camry is built in the US and has more US parts than any of the former big three.
They should have allowed Chrysler to fold since they were the smallest of the three and we don't need three automakers in the US.
They should have at least been required to pay back all the money the government fronted them as well as the bondholders.
I think their profit sharing should be paid out in half stock and they should be forced to hold it for a year minimum before being allowed to sell it.   Would give some incentive to help make a profitable car.

Good point.   Just their 100% paid insurance and pension and retiree health insurance is a huge part of their compensation but I don't think a lot of the autoworkers realize how expensive those benefits are.

I watched the first two episodes of Tore tonight.   I'll probably binge watch it this weekend since there are only six thirty-minute episodes.   Some nice eye candy and in episode one there is a small scene showing Tore's entire ass and him getting rimmed, surprised netflix showed that.   It's in Swedish though and the dubbing drives me nuts.

    No. Disagree. Vehemently.
Pay shaving? How much is too much and what's acceptable? Escort quotes me $1800 for an overnight, I say I’ll pay it, but show up with $1500. What matters is that I’m a nice guy, right?
Lunacy. The idea that lying is somehow understandable and acceptable!

Or when they use old pics from a decade ago.   I'm thinking though rentmen may have the provider type in their age instead of birthday.   There's a provide in NYC who says he's 27 and has been on the site since 2008.  Means he start escorting when he was 12 or younger lol.
I hired him in 2013 and he said he was 27 then and had to be early 30s at the youngest back then

I've been doing a lot of 28 day treasury ladders with my money.   set up so one is being bought and redeemed every week so if something comes up I'll have access to the money right away.

Interest rate is around 5.25 and really nice thing is I live in a state with absurd state taxes so I'm not paying state income tax on the money so it's coming up to be well over six percent if I take that into account

The best form of LTC insurance is to take care of yourself and eat healthy when you're in your prime. A nursing home should be something you're actively trying to avoid in your old age.
It's possible that you may need a nurse to visit you at home a couple times a week or maybe even daily but that's something you can anticipate and invest for decades in advance.

I do understand the complaining about the temporary employees.
asking for a 40% pay raise on a $32 an hour position is absurd considering they get nice profit sharing checks, don't have to pay for health insurance and a company pension and retiree health care.  I'd love to not have to pay into a 401K and have retiree health insurance and had been able to have retired after 30 years.   My main retirement concern is health care costs.   I would gladly work for $32 an hour if I had those benefits and especially making time and half or double time and not having to pay for college

will definitely cause a trickle down effect since suppliers will end up being laid off as well, and a lot of them aren't well paid auto workers who would have a big safety net so they'll be spending less and UAW workers will certainly be spending less only having $500 a week strike pay and if the autoworkers stop paying their insurance, all that will be eaten up right there (not sure if the strike fund pays their coba or not or if they are under a union funded plan how that works).
Totally get them pissed off about not making the temp workers permanent hires at the same rate.   But I don't think the big three will give a forty percent pay raise
Could be good news for toyota though.   Their camry alone sells more cars than all of Chrysler passenger vehicles combined.   You know the increased wages will be passed down to the consumer, making imports seem even more attractive if they don'thave to raise their prices

Irony bonus: EVs can't and won't move the needle on climate change one single iota, this was all a feel-good exercise for the wokester elites. Little do the poor dupes at the UAW and elsewhere know.
Consumers have the choice to buy vehicles from non-union producers with lower prices and better value and not buy vehicles from UAW factories.  People can barely afford groceries and now this nonsense!

The striking workers can’t sell new cars to Americans that are remotely affordable.  Do they really think demanding outrageous wage increases will help them sell product or generate buzz from the public?  At some point no one will buy their products or support their business.  A stripped Dodge Ram is minimum 70K! Then they will look to the taxpayers for a bailout like in 2008-2009.

Agreed.  Just look at many of them on the picket line.  Many display physiques which have to tax the company’s budget for health insurance benefits.

The UAW just rejected a 21% pay offer.   This strike is going to flop for the same reason the Hollywood strikes are flopping: Nobody wants to buy their products.  A $80,000 pickup truck is just as unaffordable as a $20 movie ticket.  Everything's unraveling, and we're entering the era of "smash and grab."   The flash mob robberies in California and New York are metaphors for what's happening to our whole society.   Everybody is grabbing what they can and running for the exits.
