My view @orville is that it’s always better to “err on the side of caution” with whatever image or text is posted. We are all lucky that this forum survives and is useful to so many.

You definitely do @fedssocr1! I only ever had a coffee-date AFTER I’d done the initial, but essential, filtering by text and WhatsApp. I described my needs and preferences very clearly. I also described the possible arrangement before asking what they wanted/hoped for. IMO you have to stay polite and friendly, but be ruthless. No endless chats; if they’re promising, meet soon. If they can’t/won’t meet, swap phone numbers and encourage them to contact you when they’re ready to commit. It can be a lot of work. And I had to kiss a lot of frogs before I found my Prince, but Seeking truly worked for me.

I feel you may be very right @Rod Hagen When I lived in Manhattan, I never thought of a guy’s travel time. I expected any difficulty in his travel to be reflected in his rate. I never owned a car in the City and I used the Jitney or a car service to go to the Hamptons. I had guys join me there and depending on their rates, I’d offer the Jitney or the car service. Similarly, in San Diego I had a car but I wouldn’t drive to LA (too unpredictably long a trip) but I’ve invited guys from LA to join me in La Jolla for an afternoon date of several hours and dinner. I can only recall my last date there 6-7 years ago when a gorgeous young Australian agreed to drive down one Saturday afternoon. We had good fun together and he asked to stay over with me - all for $1000, meals and his overnight parking. I guess the key for @Chummily will be to offer an extended date (possibly with dinner) at an unbusy time. Also I’d suggest the OP work out in advance the best way for a guy to travel to him in a relaxed and easy fashion - if that’s Uber, so be it.

I assume that figure was plucked out of the air @SirBIllybob. I can only post about Barcelona/Spain here but the police are out in force. They are reported as acting swiftly, particularly where large groups of more than 10 (the number at which they act) congregate. Given the myriad restrictions, fines can be severe eg being away from home, without a mask, and in a cafe with more than 10 people leads to a minimum fine of €360. I hope it’s a sufficient deterrent to get people to act sensibly and slow the rate of infection.

FYI the minimum fine for each infraction of the pandemic rules in Spain has just been increased by 20% and is now €120.

I think @Reisr30 that the young man used to be a fitness model. His name is something like Justin Deroy. He was very pretty and had a very good body when he was young. I met him once and tho he was delectable (and I was very polite), he made it plain that he was aggressively heterosexual. I don’t know how old he is now. IIRC he had some illness and dropped off the scene a few years ago.

FWIW the Spanish Health Minister gave an interview today in ‘La Vanguardia’ about the recent surge in cases. He said that the various regions have agreed on what further restrictions to impose if the number of cases continues to climb. He added that more than half the cases are asymptomatic, the average age (40) is lower than before, and the infection is milder. There’s little pressure on the hospitals and the “number of deaths is very different”.

Of course, you’re entitled to your view @SirBIllybob and to interpret the Catalan legislation. I do not mean to quarrel with you but I have several good Catalan friends living in Barcelona. They tell me much the same story. Citizens have been asked to stay home as much as possible. Restrictions are being enforced, police are levying fines, nightlife is dead. Alas, my friends do not frequent the saunas so I cannot comment specifically on Thermas.

I wonder if you’re merely seeing that online @SirBIllybob. Or have you had direct confirmation of that from a very recent visitor? I know that many venues in Catalonia, especially in Barcelona, are closed. I do not know about Seville as I have no friends there, but they have more problems in the region (Andalusia) as there has also been an outbreak of West Nile virus (21 cases, when I last heard 2 weeks ago) I think it’s proving a catastrophic season for tourism in Spain.

I related earlier (in the main thread on Covid19) the various severe restrictions that have been put in place in Catalonia. The sharp increase in cases of infection were attributed initially to young people ignoring social distancing at the beach and in bars. Also families were having large lunch parties etc. Disobedience now carries increasingly heavy fines. The central government in Spain seems very keen to avoid a second lockdown but it is leaving the levels of restrictions to the regional governments. Various areas (with a total population of about 4 million) have very considerable restrictions (nightlife has been sharply curtailed, smoking outdoors on restaurant terraces forbidden etc)

I feel for you @NYGuy. I have to ask: are you new to hiring? @rvwnsd has given you a succinct summary. I’d just add that hiring a “well known and well reviewed escort” is no guarantee. I’ve known a few very highly rated guys prove to be flakes (not turning up, arriving very late, getting drunk etc). So it’s essential to have a shorter date with a guy before an overnight date with him.

Just what I was about to post @BaronArtz. I’m convinced that hotel reception staff always know what’s going on. I lived in an upscale hotel in San Francisco for 2years and I’m out but I never specifically mentioned that I’m gay. The breakfast staff soon learned to set my preferred table for 2 people each morning without my asking.

In some ways, it’s already been normalized. When I was single and a modelizer, I was not that surprised that younger men would want an older man to pick up their bills. But I was surprised at how readily (and unbidden) they would send me pics showing themselves fully naked and often erect.

Definitely no bromance: they made a lovely couple. And there was plenty of full-on physical interaction, from various reports but only once witnessed by me.

Just my 2 cents…he looks very attractive to me. If I was interested in dating a guy and unsure if the pics were really of him, I would always ask in advance…and add that if a different guy turns up, our date won’t go ahead. No genuine guy will object to that.

To answer the OP, when I was single and I hired, I told a couple of gay male friends. I’ve always been open about my sexuality but I wouldn’t as @7829V asked Over time, I shared also with 3 regulars that I hired. It was interesting to hear from them that each had been surprised how few clients repeated. (I should add that all 3 were handsome, in great physical shape and sexually versatile). Their experience was that many men did not want a ‘regular’ for dates but sought to hire a new guy each time

Why not? My view is that life is short and meant to be enjoyed. Just ensure your finances permit you to live as you intend - think about inflation-proofing, paying for healthcare if/when either of you is ill, and the currency risks attached to living abroad.
