Where I grew up in Central PA, "gay bashing" was pretty common. Therefore I never had the nerve to even TRY to hook up with a dude, let alone tell anyone that I had same sex attraction. Pushing these issue down people's throat ALWAYS makes it worse, not better. People need TIME to adapt to changes in what is accetable social normatives. The issue here is about the excessive speed in which some social justice groups, move. It's freaking out mainstream people, and getting the REVERSE effect they are expecting.

Same here. I've visited a lot of remote locations that can only accept small prop planes. They weigh both you and your luggage toegther. It's not a big deal when you're not already embarrassed by your obesity.

In NYC the only people I ever see smoking cigarettes are Asians and French Tourists. The 20-somethings do their vaping and some people are now smoking their weed in public. But yeah...cigarette smoking in most social circles is considered tacky now. Only Asians think it's kool, because Big Tobacco has moved much of it's advertising dollar to Asia.

On the BIG weekends like the Pines Party not every weekend. There's always a lot of drug use going on with the glamour-boys. I haven't been out that way for several years but I doubt the scene has changed much.

The nightlife in the Grove is your typical gay bar scene. Drag queens and lots of effeminate types mixed in with a few rough Lesbians. I always considered it to be too casually trailer-trash for my taste (To each - his own) The Pines is MUCH more upscale, attractive and predominantly gay/bi MEN only. (With the exception of Robin Byrd) Most of the real beautiful people are over there. Unfortunately the beauties do too many party drugs and most of the big weekends include a body bag removing an OD'd guest from the dance floor. Both towns have a distinct community. So ..I look at it this way - if you're at a massage place in NYC and only paying $ 70, the masseur is likely making very little of that 70 bucks. It's going to the rent on the space. So these guys often are working for tips. So I figure anything beyond a very basic massage needs to be paid for separately, not just viewed as a "tip". There are very few good spas in NYC where you can get a pro massage and a happy ending.
