  1. I studied the history of the St John Lateran cathedral when I was at university. It's a beautiful church. Didn't know much about the palace but when I was in Rome years ago it wasn't open to the public. I have always had a soft spot for Rome and have recently gone through some letters I have from my Roman holiday over 40 years ago. I could write a book...
  2. Actually I've been there and while it in no way resembles Tara, it demonstrates that a great book can arise from humble origins.
  3. Whatever happened to the City of Brotherly Love? Sad.

I made contact with Kevin and we have a date set up during his visit to Montreal in mid March. I will say his communication skills are excellent. So we will see.

I'm reviving this thread as the subject of it is now planning on visiting Montreal from his home base in Paris in mid-March. He goes by Monsieur_Hung on RM. He calls himself Kevin but in an old review was called Yuri. This thread started off about how expensive his rates are but then got into other providers and Covid issues. Has anyone here actually been with him? He has many positive reviews but a half dozen clients have written 4 or 5 each. I contacted him and his rates are $450 an hour in Cdn$, or $350US.
  6. I've had a landline at my residences for over 50 years. Sometimes a couple when I had two residences simultaneously. I only got a smart phone 3 years ago and it has changed my ways of communicating but I have not dropped having a landline. I don't use caller ID and will answer the phone if it is convenient. Otherwise I have voicemail. The number of crank calls has declined markedly in the last several years which I credit the phone companies with cracking down under federal pressure in Canada. I am a member of several volunteer organizations so like to be able to call and receive calls from members and other parties using the services of the organizations I belong to. My cell phone has made communication even more efficient.
  7. Me too. I usually only host two providers in a nice hotel for the evening and then one goes home while the other does an overnight. Sometimes I have kept the same two and alternated on two consecutive nights. I find hotels don't require the name of your guests when you are booking a room for two, which is a standard request.
  8. Based on my own experience decades ago, admittedly when laws were more restrictive and gay marriage was not an option, I would still say, proceed with caution. Still, life only comes by once and if you don't follow your heart at times, you miss out on a lot, including heartbreak, of course.
  9. I agree about the perceptions about what constitutes a 7 inch dick and the reality. It seems to be really "hung", one needs at least 8 inches. But in my experience, someone with a real 7 inches is hung enough for me. The disappointment comes in discovering that sizes have been inflated in advertising.
  10. You misspelled Libermann.
  11. I corresponded with him several years ago when he was visiting Canada. That was before the pandemic and as far as I know he hasn't been back. I haven't been to NY since just before the pandemic struck either. But he remains on my radar.
  12. I noticed some time ago that lonely_john had not posted or visited this site since he started this thread on Dec 11. Prior to that he was a frequent poster on many topics for one who had only joined the forum as a member just a year or so earlier. I wonder what has happened. He asked for no negatively in the responses offered and by and large members here gave him thoughtful responses imo. One reason I noticed him is that he is a fellow Canadian and there are relatively few of us on this forum, according to stats I have read here (less than 2 percent). I hope all is going well with him and perhaps it is and he no longer requires this sounding board to express himself. I remember I abscented myself from this site for a number of years and then came back as couple of years ago. Things sometimes go that way.
  13. The article doesn't tell much or anything about how the appliance actually works. It's just a gushing promo featuring the end results of food cooked that way.
  14. I don't consider the RM reviews useless per se but they have to be judged in the overall context. There are some reviewers I trust because they have given reviews of providers I have been with and were completely spot on. So I will trust them when commenting on someone new I may want to see. There are others who have given a positive review to providers for instance on their looks and were completely off base. I found the pics were misleading and would never hire the providers again because they were not as advertised. Also I tend to discount reviews by clients who are new to the game. They do not have the experience to provide meaningful comparisons. I sometimes get in touch with clients on RM to confirm their reviews. That has sometimes helped but the odd time hasn't. Anyway, despite all one's efforts, sometimes things just don't go as planned. C'est la vie.
  15. Well because I am a premium client and I will be able to continue to post reviews as I have done over the years. So it doesn't affect me. But reading Tygerscent's comments, I think also it may cut out some of the phony reviews of providers which I have always suspected. There are a couple of said providers who rack up hundreds of uniformly positive reviews who I have been with and was less than satisfied. When I wrote the even mildly critical review they got the reviews deleted and blocked me.
  16. Won't affect me.

  18. I haven't left it to my family to write my epitaph. I did it myself a few years ago when I erected a stone in the cemetery where I am to be buried. I had the stonemason carve in some lines from Wordsworth from his Ode: Intimations of Immortality" They include the words" tho nothing can recall the hour, of splendour in the grass, glory in the flower" I substituted"recall" for "bring back" and a few other slight alterations since I was paying a lot for each word and why use two or three words when one will do. I hope Wordsworth would not have minded. But his name is WordsWORTH, after all. Lol.
  19. Interesting article. By the end it seems Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies offer an alternative to cash and other payment alternatives but there are still pitfalls. Especially the rollercoaster aspects of valuations.
  20. I can only imagine how difficult it was going up against a railway company in 1899. The age of the robber railway barons.
  21. Having read the ad, now I get it.
  22. I imagine it was a federal case because of the railway being involved? My grandfather sued a stockbroker for loses incurred when the broker failed to execute a sell order in a timely fashion. He lost the suit. Three years later my grandfather became a broker in Toronto, I guess so he could handle his own investments.
  23. I'm very involved in historical activities and one of my current jobs is to get our local newspaper digitized. We have an archive of this weekly newspaper going back to the 1890s. Earlier editions were microfilmed a couple of decades ago with those papers going back to the 1860s. Our local paper traced its roots back to 1816. With digitized copies you just have to punch in a name and up pops all the citations related to that person. Great for research.
  24. Actually you can read old newspapers going back over a hundred years by going to newspapers.com and signing up for a membership. It's how I found out my grandfather had been involved in a lawsuit in 1908 which he never told anyone about in the family (he lost his claim for damages). I guess he was embarrassed.
  25. That last remark seems a bit bitchy to me. Just saying...
