Understand your feelings but wasn't there ever anyone to warm your butt in freezing DC 😜

I had the best New Year's eves during the winters I was in Miami back around the turn of the century. One could go out to the bars and have a great time without having to dress for the cold. Of course this applies to other sun destinations as well but Miami had a certain zest back then, which I understand has somewhat fizzled. Of course, I also spent some NY eves in Ft Lauderdale, which was only a 30 minute drive away and equally fun.

I loved that as a kid, sleeping under a pile of blankets with a down filled comforter on top and the window open to the wind blasting in from across the lake in our mountain retreat north of Montreal. My two brothers were similarly ensconced in our large bedroom on the second level, with mother, father and sister more sheltered in their downstairs bedrooms at the back of the house, protected from the wind. I wouldn't trade places with them for anything.

My last dog was a mutt who would eat anything. My previous two dogs were purebreds who were somewhat more diffident about kibbles, which I have always preferred to feed my dogs. They would eat kibbles but not with the relish that they devoured human food in the form of table scraps.

I've never been a fan of traveling in peak seasons.

I can empathize with Epigonos. I always said gravity was a dog's best friend in the kitchen.

I sleep naked in bed except in the cold weather, when I wear a t-shirt to keep my shoulders and upper arms warm. Like a cool house at night in the winter, around 69. When I sleep with providers, I like us both naked completely, since body heat keeps me comfy without need for t-shirt. One of my regulars insists on putting a t-shirt back on before going to sleep.

I just watched the 3 minute clip above of Cohen's rant. He is just a vulgar loudmouth, imo.

What do we know about when and how Montreal clubs will reopen?

I was able to get my booster shot just before Christmas so am looking forward to travel by mid January. Where to go is the big question. While Montreal would have been high on my list, it's not looking good right now. I may look south to US or Mexico to see what looks feasible. -
I think Southern Comfort is also orangy in taste but it's been 50 odd years since I had any. Too much in fact at a fraternity party and I have never touched it since. Lol
-
A bit like Cointreau and Grand Marnier. All sort of orangy.

Baby beef liver is not as tender as calves liver. I think the difference in ages of the cattle is about two years, the calves being under a year. Baby beef is next two years and then beef liver, which is the oldest and toughest of the livers. With calves liver, you can almost cut it with a fork.

With today's announcement of a new lockdown and curfew across Quebec starting New Year's Eve tomorrow, I take it all social life is screeching to a halt. What a downer for starting 2022. -
My father, who was a Chartered Accountant, always said the way to approach the taxman was to make any claim you felt entitled to on your tax return and back it up with the required paperwork, however outlandish your claim might be and all they could say at worst was no. On the other hand, if you tried to hide something and they found out, watch out!

Not only look alike but virtually the same stats.

Another Warning To Be Careful Who You Pick Up At A Party....

I also felt safer in Sao Paulo than Rio but had no problems in either city when I visited years ago, actually just two weeks before my nephew did. -

Only thing I would add to Jetlow's advice is that it is important when traveling in third world countries such as Brazil to carry a reasonable amount of money like $100US on your person so that if you are robbed, it is enough to satisfy the robbers. If you only have a small amount of cash, they may get angry and frustrated because they know you are affluent and they may take it out on you. This happened to my nephew in Rio years ago when he and his girlfriend were robbed at knifepoint just outside the Copacabana Palace Hotel in broad daylight. He only had a trifling amount of cash and credit cards and the robbers were incensed. Her screaming helped in resolving the situation because they fled before they could do much harm. -
If it was kidney stones, blood would be present in his urine. Not sure about semen. I suffered from kidney stones for about 20 years and that was the test to distinguish it from an appendix attack, which feels the same as a kidney stones attack. The test for appendix is a blood test.

Well, the province of Quebec just imposed a lockdown including a 10pm to 5am curfew taking effect at 5pm tomorrow, New Year's Eve. During the curfew, no-one can go out of their homes and invite anyone not of their household to their homes. All restaurants and bars are closed except for takeout and all non essential businesses like gyms are closed. This in the face of 14,000 daily cases which is about the same percapita rate as the US is now experiencing, if not lower. Hospitalization rates are approaching capacity limits and will be overwhelmed in less than 3 weeks on the current trajectory unless these measures are taken, according to the government. This will kill the escort business for the time being in Montreal unless you do day time engagements. I'm wondering what is going to happen in Ontario, where I live. Rates are accelerating but not to the level of Quebec's, yet.

Another Warning To Be Careful Who You Pick Up At A Party....

Maybe they hoped they would find stuff worth more than 2500 euros in his room or on his person. I had a friend, long deceased, who wore a diamond ring worth $40,000 back in the early 20s and a Rolex watch. He would turn the ring around on his finger so the diamond was hidden when picking up guys at bars or engaging escorts in Montreal, New York or Florida, where we both went out together on many occasions. But the watch was a give away, which he refused to switch to a Swatch, as I did even with my much less expensive Swiss watch especially in places like Brazil. And back at his houses in Montreal or Florida, they would have easily found stuff worth $thousands. I traveled with him in Europe and Brazil and he always had wads of cash at any one time. I never took expensive jewellery with me, not that I had much. When I went out I just had a couple of hundred dollars on me. I guess what I'm saying is that I never try to look like a mark. Of course, my friend was 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighed about 260 pounds so he would not have been an easy take down, except for the drugging thing. But he didn't drink. -

I agree that this is the type of thing that could happen to any of us, albeit mostly unimaginable. It's hard to judge without knowing all the circumstances how reckless or not this victim was in inviting unknown persons back to his hotel. We've all I think picked up with strangers for a night of illicit sex (I use the term as the newspapers would report it). Nothing untoward happened. Just our good luck. This guy ran out of good luck. -
