I'm thinking of going to Montreal on Halloween weekend. Unless there is a great change in the weather, it should be fine, warm days and cool evenings. Right now we're having great weather in the region, today in the low 70s and sunny. The next 7 days more of the same predicted. I was in Montreal two weeks ago and the restaurant scene was lovely. Didn't do the stripper clubs but met with some escorts.

We haven't seen those prices since the 1970's. -

Grocery Surprises, What's Got Your Goat With High Price?

Here in Canada it’s over 3$ for a litre of milk, which is muck less than a gallon. We have supply management to thank for that as it guarantees farmers a price in the dairy and poultry sectors and imports are virtually prohibited. -

You certainly did. And I expect given that background, you still eat well. -
You have mischaracterized the reviews. Only two negative ones, and one of those was only mildly so, against over two dozen or so stellar reviews over a four year period. Many favorable comments about Antonio as well.

Now there's some boeuf on the hoof.

Unless the pandemic really recedes by the end of year, Canada will have to launch a booster campaign by then. I got my second shot of Pfizer in late June, three months after the first. And I am over 70. The federal government procured over 400 million vaccines at the outset, and while they were slow in coming, there is now ample supply for booster shots.

Just enough.

I understand that Moderna is proving to be better than Pfizer in maintaining antibodies over the longer term. Evidence is also mounting that delaying the second shots of either, which was necessary in Canada and elsewhere than in the US because of initial shortages, actually worked to the advantage of recipients of both Moderna and Pfizer outside the US. As a result, booster shots will not be necessary until later in those countries. On the other hand, Americans will need to get theirs sooner to maintain adequate protection against the virus in its current Delta form.

I believe you reversed the time limits for cancellation policy at INNdulge; <42 days should be 50% deposit forfeited, >42 days total deposit refunded.

Anderson Cooper Will Not Leave A Lot of Money to His Sin
Luv2play replied to + WilliamM's topic in The Lounge
A great tale of dissipated family wealth different than the Vanderbilt's story is that of the Harriman railroad fortune, which also lasted only three generations. The grandfather rose from being a railway clerk to owner of one of the great American railways of the 19th century. His son, Averell Harriman, became a famous politician and diplomat serving as FDRs man in Moscow during WWII. Later he married Pamela Digby Churchill Hayward and she went through a large portion of his money in less than 20 years. -

As I said I don’t watch TV any more but I am guessing that Chris Cuomo’s days on CNN are numbered. The cancel culture will get him over his inappropriate behaviour of sexual harassment and his association with his brother over the same issues. -

I imagine Cooper got a healthy advance from the publisher as he has a household name which overcomes his lack of a reputation as an author. If the book is a success, it will maybe pave the way for future books. -
Anderson Cooper Will Not Leave A Lot of Money to His Sin

Your premise is wrong. As Anderson said in his interview and as he apparently stated in his book ( I only read the review, not the book), his parents sat him down at an early age and told him there would be no pot of money waiting for him at 21. The Vanderbilt fortune was depleted to non existence. His father Wyatt Cooper came from a poor farm family in Mississippi. His mother only had the Vanderbilt name. Anderson himself is making big money as a TV journalist and media darling. He will no doubt have the means to establish some sort of trust for his son, which he would be advised to do early as he is already 50 years old and may not live to see his son graduate from university ( his father died young). But the trust fund would not be in the same league as one in the Rockefeller or many of the old three or four generation families in America of vast wealth. If you want to read a hilarious book about trust fund babies, Kurt Vonnegut’s God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater, will amuse. -

Anderson Cooper was interviewed on CBC radio last week and I listened to the last half. I also read the book review in the NYTimes. I don't watch him on TV any longer as I got rid of my television over a year ago. My belief is that he will treat his son as a privileged member of the American affluent class and his son will be given every advantage money can buy. It is clear Cooper was not a trust fund baby, and neither was his mother. They both had to find their way in the world with only the Vanderbilt name hanging there in the background. His son will have the aura of the Vanderbilt heritage but only whatever material advantage that Anderson is able to bestow on him. As any father would want, he will want his son to succeed in life. -
Count on it being in the thousands. As the expression goes, if you have to ask, you can't afford it. ☺️

It must have been a very exciting experience. Of course, today the teacher would be excoriated if not hanged, drawn and quartered -
I'm very sorry to hear of your current circumstances having to deal with Covid along with your move to an assisted living residence which I take it you are now in. I don't know where you contracted the disease and maybe you don't either but I hope you get the treatment you require. All the best.

Frankly, I don't think fast food in moderation is good for you. These are empty calories and any amount in your body is bad. Personally I haven't eaten any fast food for so long I can't remember. If pizzas are considered fast food, than I have had the odd slice when in a group occasion and it is brought in. They generally have too much salt in them for my taste.
