I don't share the experiences, but I certainly recognize the sentiments. 
The only thing I can really think to say is that beating yourself up never helps. You've recognized choices that are bad for you and you're making different choices to move in a direction that is better for you. Good for you, and good to luck you.

Our experiences have not been nearly as bad as the OP described. Maybe it’s bc we’re in NYC. But most of the guys we’ve hired do look like their pics - some even better. 
 
Our primary reason for hiring is that it’s easier then wasting time on Grindr and Scruff. We’ve had a couple of duds in our time hiring, but probably 80% positive. But I read reviews. I check their social media. I come on here. 
 
I do think you have to be discriminating. What we look for more than anything is someone who seems to genuinely enjoy this work. 

You have to do what's right for you.  And only you know what that is...  live your life as makes sense and the rest will work out.

I started hiring in my twenties, but I didn't hire very often back then not only because I had much less money and it was pre-internet but also because I got more of my needs met by dating which was much easier for me in my twenties and thirties (and even into my forties) than into my fifties and now sixties. To be honest, even when guys do match their descriptions that's no guarantee that the session will feel "worth it" since that's entirely objective.  Sounds like you've figured out that, at least at this point in your life, hiring isn't for you.  Don't get hung up on regretting your past choices; just most forward.

Before I begin, I want to say that these are my opinions based on personal experiences. After 10 years of hiring men, I can say that I’m totally giving up on it. I’m in my 30’s, so I guess I’m a little pickier, but of the 100+ men I’ve hired over the years, I can honestly only think of 3-4 that were actually worth it. Most of the time, the guy does not look nearly as good as his pictures ( not as muscular, older than advertised, different body pics used, etc.). Most of these guys I could likely meet for free. Somewhere down the line, hiring men became an addiction because I’ve suffered from low self esteem most of my life and any sort of rejection would put me in a funk.   I’m realizing now that spending so much money just to avoid my fears is not helping me in the long run.
 
I feel so ashamed to have spent so much money over the years for companionship I basically could have received for free had I stuck to a workout routine. 
I will say that the worst escorts are usually the Eastern European/Russian ones or the South American ones. They’re usually the rudest and more likely to have misleading pictures/ show disinterest.
I don’t mean to offend anyone with my post. They’re my experiences and options.
 
 

I also wish they would be more helpful.  I will note that I have made contact with several RM reviewers of other escorts in the past and have had a decent reply rate.  It is just odd that for this particular guy that no one responded, however it may be just the luck of the draw.  I have sent a PM to @Kufrolasking about his review and will see if he responds (he has recently been on line here so it appears he is active).

I met him several years ago in Vegas when his look was more "clean cut".  Not as thrilled with his new look.  I had an ok time and he is a nice guy with a smoking hot bod but I likely would not repeat mostly because of his limits (no kissing) and I don't recall but am not sure he gives oral (perhaps others that have seen him can indicate if they had that experience or not).  May not be indicative of what he does with clients but his OnlyFans page only shows him receiving oral and rimming but not giving.  
From what I can gather from my experience and other posts, he is more likely in his mid 30s now rather than the advertised age of 28 so I speculate that he is trying his best to keep that youthful look with whatever he has had done and the hair styling (if you can call it styling).  To each his own and I am sure many like the look and being with a straight guy.  Different strokes for different folks.

Typically someone found the message from Google or the site search.  Many people don't pay too much attention to the date.  This is part of the reason why we automatically disable the ability to respond to really old topics.  Right now that's defined as 2 years.  This one is not even 1 yet.  

I don’t understand why it’s so hard to hire a guy. It shouldn’t be hard. We’re not playing matchmaker here. It’s almost as difficult as setting up a Grindr date with some of these guys. The ones who really see this as their job are infinitely easier to arrange with, but I sincerely believe A LOT of these providers are looking to get paid to do the Grindr thing.

The selectiveness from some providers is almost akin a baker saying they won’t make a cake for certain types of clients. I totally get when it is clear that a potential client is likely not a potential client, but you can’t know if a client is serious in four texts between the two of you that total less than 50 words, sometimes less than 25…

I don’t know Peter Hung or what he looks like. He refuses to show his face which is fine by me. However, in looking at the listings for Vegas I see at least 10 ads I would consider before Peter Hung. Granted, I don’t know any of these guys either, but I find it hard to believe Peter Hung is the only game in town. From what I can see in his ad, he looks like an average guy at best.

Your comment leaves a sour taste in my mouth.  Three things come to my mind:
1). If an escort can’t stand the heat, he shouldn’t be in the kitchen 
2). I don’t need to be schooled on why escorts don’t frequent this Forum. There are days when I feel members would be better served without escort input on this Forum.
3).  Greg Abbott now tells me it’s a felony to hire an escort in Texas.  Thank god I left that cesspool of a state.

Time will tell, but I've always wondered why nearly every time I read a story similar to this, it takes the same course. "He's really gay, he can't be bi. Bi's just a stepping stone. There may be Bi guys, but he can't be one cause...x, y, z."

A few years ago I would have thought that a claim to be bisexual was a stepping stone to admitted being gay but I've since learned that lots of men truly are bisexual. They may be simultaneously attracted to both men and women or they may go through periods of being attracted to one sex more than the other. I will admit to wondering if Archuleta is calling himself bisexual as a stepping stone but I'm also reminding myself that truly bisexual men do exist... and there are lots of them.  
 

He pinged my gaydar too, but he would always toe the line for LDS dogma so I stopped giving him much thought.
