I would expect either me or the person I’m meeting, whether a provider or a dentist or a long lost relative visiting town to confirm at least the day before and definitely the day of. Not hard to do in this era of instant comms. “I’m about to leave, ETA xyz, are we still good?” has saved me from much hanging around for someone else running late or not wasting time on someone who can’t or won’t make it anymore.
A provider who will ditch you because of a more lucrative opportunity or because they can’t keep to schedule for whatever reason can do so regardless even at the last minute. Don’t be the cause of any uncertainty at their end.

The topic is "Thoughts on Deposits" which can be translated to "Opinions on Deposits". Can we just let folks state their preference and move on? Why does everything need to turn into a toxic back and forth. I've never been asked for a deposit nor do I think I would pay a deposit unless I was really certain that the meeting was going to take place. Just my answer/opinion to the question and I'm not going to argue with anyone if you feel that I am wrong.
Now have a blessed day 💗

@Jay_lucas  The business model that a practitioner utilizes doesn't have to be static approach of request deposit/don't request deposit, it can adapt to the market they use as a home base versus when traveling (this shouldn't be rocket science).  In looking at the two major platforms (RentMasseur and RentMen), and conducting a simple profile search of the word "Deposit" only 32 of 4,306 (0.74314909%) of Rentmasseur practitioners and 68 of 10,688 (0.636622%) of Rentmen practitioners outrightly state that a Deposit would be required at some stage of engagement.
Practitioners choose what business model works for them best.   Scanning only a couple of profiles on each, it was clear that for some of the practitioners it wasn't required in all instances and for others it was a hard and fast rule.   Note there maybe other practitioners that utilize phrasing in place of "Deposit" but I don't think that would move the numbers much.   Good luck with the search of practitioners that meet your needs.   As for myself, a practitioner who would require a deposit isn't the business model I prefer.

Tell typical NYC provider they’re no good as a provider and they’ll roll their eyes and likely comment on your performance as they show you out the door.
Comment on their ability as an actor and be ready for a total meltdown.

Some may be pragmatic (as they see it) and assume it maximizes clientele and doesn’t put off those who could be offended by an “in your face” or sermonizing on status or prep use (same reason some undetectable on ART will only say “positive”)
We’ve discussed here before how many have not stated status accurately - we know because they themselves have volunteered this to us or in other profiles - I know at least 2 in my geography and both made some fumbling noise about having forgotten to update their profiles, I just checked and after more than a year they still provide an incorrect status (not just blank)
At the end of the day it shouldn’t really matter if you’re already ok seeing a provider if you protect yourself per your own tolerance level - and that can mean lots of different things

Whether or not he’s on Prep shouldn’t affect your approach. Prep protects him, not you. Nor should you take as definitive anything he says because you can’t prove he’s on Prep, you’re just taking him at his word and that’s a lot of trust for something so critical to your health.
Because of my work I take Prep daily and I really can’t imagine why anyone doing sex work wouldn’t be on Prep unless they’ve a health issue that prevents them taking it. All of the guys I know who do similar work are on it. They also include it in their advertising.
It’s free here in UK and I get tested regularly (also free) to ensure it’s safe for me to use.

I think lazy or ignorant are on the list as well. I have talked to many guys who really don't understand the difference between negative, PrEP, PEP, and TasP. They consider them pretty much "all the same," and as long as they check, or write, one of them, it's "good enough."

The reality is that you need to be on a form of PrEP if you're fucking or being fucked by another man.  It's readily available almost everywhere now.
Both escorts and clients alike lie to themselves and each other about their sexual responsibility.
    Only you can protect you.

Or the perception of it perhaps. I’d say social conditioning is as or more important. People would be making different choices if media (including porn) presented different ideas of what is attractive (and perhaps by implication, healthy). Some don’t have a problem with partners indulging in PNP, unprotected sex (even with PREP in the mix though that’s not universal and recent) or other eating disorders that keep one “not fat” but might be causing havoc elsewhere in the body (or mind).

And as you say we’re talking prostitution not long term relationships - where an old or fat partner (however defined and for the purpose of discussion here) benefiting the provider means they might not reject them. And a compliment paid to a client tapping into their perceived sensitivities may be smart for business even if potentially offensive to others and may not even represent what that provider really feels on such issues.
And I can imagine some providers and others I’ve met saying something like “actually I’d rather have a fatty than a …” (fill in the blank … racial slur, height, age, disability related filter “ etc).

It’s called free enterprise.  I like Company A’s business model more than Company B’s, so I go to Company A. How is that a toxic habit?

Today’s business world is driven by reviews, so I will post reviews and tell other consumers what I don’t like about Company B.  I’ll say, “Avoid this company, they ask for deposits.”

Must you be fatphobic? By your admission, you only have sex with extremely fit, much younger men. Perhaps you have a biased sample on which you observe sociological phenomena? I know plenty of fit guys who are chasers, butch guys who love femmes, 20-somethings who love guys 20-30 years older than them, and everything in between. If those guys exist outside the escort scene, some are working as providers.
I've gotten a lot of compliments from providers over the years. And I can smell bullshit a mile away, so I know who's gassing me up. That said, if a provider besmirched his other clients in front of me, I would not hire him again.

I will never put down a deposit for a session.  There are a lot of good, well-reviewed providers who don’t require them.  I’ll stick to hiring them.

Many providers chose partners/spouses based on financial reasons, so that doesn't surprise me much.

Then there's providers who end up with other providers. I don't have data on how long those relationships last after their escorting careers are over, but they definitely look good together.
