for providers - serious question, how do you take care of your sexual health with the current standard of unprotected sex ?  I’m not talking about hiv because that’s almost irrelevant w Prep and most positive gay men on meds.  But that leaves a lot of STIs that can still cause major problems/discomfort.
for me, condoms aren’t a moral question or decision but rather a practical one.  I just don’t want to spend unnecessary time going to the doctor, testing & then meds if I should be exposed to an sti.

I don’t think anyone actually likes condoms - some people are just more risk averse than others.  And almost nobody discusses or acknowledges contracting an STI.  Honestly, this is my biggest hangup about sex.

Think of him as a long lost friend you haven't seen in forever. Ask him about himself a little too -- he is a person with his own struggles, and issues, and family, and work. That's exactly why he changed his name, to preserve the reviews. Thanks for the info. I was able to get on the internet a few different ways there but know the drill for sure. I'm fluent in Spanish so that's not a problem. My trips to Cuba have been for adventure, history, culture, etc. I never really tied in sex at all, I suppose I just did a mental block on it. Next time I am there, I am going to remember your post. Just copied and pasted it in my notes app for future reference. 
It's an incredible country if you dig in and get around. I could talk about Cuba for days with people who have been like yourself.  I've been to almost every place on earth (and will do all 193 UN nations before I die) and Cuba ranks up there near #1 for my most favorite of anywhere in the world. You probably know a lot more about Cuba than I. My Spanish is elementary, but still makes all the difference if you're trying to connect with local people (or guys specifically). Or traveling around the country, using local transport etc. I have a Cuban godchild and her father, one of my best friends, has been married to a Cuban woman since 20 years back. I had info from them and could ask their advice on anything, also gay stuff like what security measures are relevant if I bring a guy home, how do I know if a guy is only after money, etc, they are modern people and very cool. We all live in Europe, just mentioning as this site seems very US oriented. So we don't have the same issues with bans, visas, etc (we have other issues). 
The gay beach outside Havanna is something I recommend, it's a unique place. You will find gay for pay and any other version of paying for sex there. Gold diggers who might actually be gay (or straight) and want to marry rich, find a better life in another country. Rent boys in the bushes next to it, ostentatiously showing their big dicks and charging 10 usd to give them a blow job in the bushes. But also gay Cuban couples or mixed couples, just enjoying the beach. It's a friendly kind of place where anything goes. Lovely. 
Many of the guys on the beach (not the guys in the bushes) you will also see in the clubs, meaning those three or four clubs where that kind of guys will go, looking for men who will pay for sex (my impression is that many older Cubans, who somehow can afford it, also pay).
I don't recommend the clubs, I hated them, but that is another obvious way to meet guys, weather they are full on prostitutes or just guys who want you to pay their drinks and if they're lucky a bit more. I found it impossible and nerve-wracking to understand who is what. They all wanted something (so it seemed), but was it money for sex, or just me paying for the drinks and the ride to the next club, the entrance fee, etc. It was unclear to me, and I was extremely uncomfortable because of not understanding.
Talked to some hot guys for sure, but when you have said the line that every Cuban will teach you "I don't pay" in order to avoid prostitutes, and they still hang around expecting you to pay for drinks etc it becomes very unclear to me. So I never went home with any guy from these clubs, not even the guys that were sooooo sexy. It was too unclear. 
I'm sure you will have better luck when you visit next time, my friend. The Cuban guys are extraordinarily sexy (and hung, from what I know).

1) There is Internet nowadays, it's just a little harder to access than in other countries. I borrowed a national simcard from a Cuban friend (because it's complicated for a foreigner to get one). You can also go to the WiFi hotspots, there's usually one even in smaller cities, it's often a public square. So Grindr worked fine, although less busy, as everyone is kind of struggling with access. You want to switch to WhatsApp asap because it saves data. On Gayromeo, the German gaysite/app, you will find adds from Cuban escorts (but those adds are blocked in the app, you need to visit the site). 
2) There are several gayclubs in Havanna, most of them with drag shows and the oldest and most well known one is run by the state. Its called Las Vegas, every attractive guy in there will ask for money for sex, and every taxi driver will know the place and what it 's about. One driver said "why do you want to go there? I have a big dick, I can show you a good time", quoting that to give an impression of just how everyday gay for pay is in Cuba. You can basically ask your driver (if you speak Spanish, of course). If he doesn't want to fuck you, maybe he has a friend who will, or knows where to take you. 
3) There's an incredible gay beach about 45 minutes by bus from central Havanna, you just Google it, the info is everywhere. About 75 percent of the clientele is hookers and their clients. Many older, more well to do, Cubans have young "boyfriends" that they pay. So it's a very established practice. Rent boys will cruise clients there, either by smiling and chatting them up openly, or by waiting discreetly in the bushes on either side of the actual gay beach. They will agree to sex in the open for something like 10 USD, but you will have to be an exhibitionist, because there are others passing by. 
4) The main problem in Cuba is not finding a hot guy for sex. The problem is that most of them will not tell you that they are only after money until after you've had sex, or at least arrived at your house. They will then pretend that that was the agreement all the time and they may even threaten with the police. There's a risk you will find yourself in an extortion like or at least very "drama" situation, so it's not for the faint hearted. Anyways, for a person staying in one of the international hotels, not sure if any of this is possible. I don't think they allow visitors. Cubans will very rarely have a place to meet, most people share houses, so if your hotel does not allow visitors... 
I had some really weird and uncomfortable experiences with guys, so I kind of gave it up and focused on my Cuban friends and sightseeing. For example a straight young military guy who came home with me from the gay beach, refused to leave unless I gave him at least a t-shirt and money for his bus ride. We never had sex, and I never asked him for any services. A closeted gay medical doctor and owner of a luxury airbnb first used his key to enter and try to have sex with me (he was very sexy, but it was uncomfortable) and then tried to squeeze money from me as well, for no apparent reason. All the guys I had sex with (maybe 3 in total) tried to squeeze money out of me, but that was never agreed and they were not like obviously out of my league. So very unpleasant environment for someone who doesn't intend to pay for sex. And I'm comparing with places like West Africa, Turkey and Brazil, you know, not with Europe. 
But to be honest, I'm older now and ready to pay, and I can't stop thinking about the Cuban guys, some of them were incredibly sexy. And it seemed to me that you could have a gorgeous guys company for less than a 100 usd per DAY (as in 24 hours). So very cheap. Some guys seemed to be happy if you just paid their drinks and meals and gave them some pocket money. I know this from talking to guys in the clubs. 
PS Obviously none of the above would be possible if you do not speak Spanish reasonably well, are not confident enough to venture into bushes, backstreets, seedy clubs and totally unsafe rides (cars with no seat belts and who knows if the breaks are even working, shared taxis, etc). If they identify you as the typical American tourist, they will think you are both stupid and a billionaire, so there will be no end to the scams they will try to pull. I'm saying that because that's who they thought I was, and you really had to give them attitude to get rid of them. It was verging on unbearable a great part of the time, so in the end I just gave up and stayed in. I recommend the beach, but not the clubs. The guys are super hot, though.

Alright, I am going to go against my general rule and reply: 
I've hired him fairly recently. My advice would be to find someone else. He is hot, yes. Great body, handsome face, all of the above.
