For me, getting in to a well-made bed is worth the chore of making it, so, yes, mine is made every day -- stripped down to the bottom sheet and put back together. The person who shares it very occasionally pulls up the covers, and apparently thinks that qualifies as "making the bed." Oh well, other virtues compensate for that.

I make it, the dog unmakes it, and round and round we go.

Our old family dog drove my mom nuts this way for 18 years. She'd make her bed and leave for work, then the dog would jump up and pull back the covers so he could arrange the pillows to his liking. Mom would complain to anyone who would listen. ALL OF US knew better than to suggest she close the bedroom door.

I make my bed when I change the sheets but otherwise I don't bother.

I make hotel beds if we are staying more than one night. I know perfectly well that housekeeping usually remakes them but I can't help myself.

Me too or I did. Spent 10 days recovering from knee surgery at the Hotel Majestic in Kuala Lumpur. My immobility made that impossible. And then there came Rahma, the handsome Bangladeshi houseboy, to show me how it’s done. He’d effortlessly whip those crisp sheets into submission artfully tuck those pillows into shape then proudly turn to me with his life affirming smile for approval. He’d stop by while going off duty to make sure that the room service tray was picked up and that I had enough water and toiletries for the night. His attention and aura sped up my recovery immeasurably.

As much as I appreciated Rahman’s ministrations, tipping is not a common practice and can be taken as an attempt to bribe. In any event he was not on duty the day I left. About a year later I was checking out of a room after a short stay in a different area of the hotel when I bumped into the houseboy’s cart and who should be servicing the next room but the same Rahman. While we don’t share a common language we greeted each other warmly as old friends which confused the bellhop who’d come to fetch my luggage.

It is well know around here that I go to Puerto Vallarta twice a year. The condo in which I stay has daily maid service. I drive the poor woman crazy because I ALWAYS make the bed and do the kitchen dishes.

At home I get up at 4:30 a.m., during the week, to go to the gym. It takes me only about five minutes to get there so I leave at about 4:55 and I ALWAYS make my bed before leaving. I make the bed with old fashioned hospital very tight corner folds. I actually make my bed with three sheets. I place the third sheet on top of the blanket and under the bed spread.

Always. First thing after getting out of it. Not complex, your basic pulling the sheets and blankets taut and getting it all lined up right. I feel jinxed if I leave it for whatever reason. OCD? Perhaps. Think of it as OCD with benefits: At least one small part of my life is as it should be. Makes me feel good.

I don't do it first thing, as I experience considerable morning stiffness and achiness when I get up (no, not that kind of stiffness) that would make doing it uncomfortable, but I pull the top sheet, blanket and cover up and put the pillows on top of them by the time I get dressed.

Because of neck pain, I spend much of my time during the day lying down on the bed anyway, which is more comfortably done if the bed is made unless it's one of those lazy or crappy days when I don't change into day clothes and spend the day under the covers.

Although I live alone and no one is going to see it I make my bed every morning immediately after I get up. I them turn down the covers so I'll be ready to get back in it that night.

.

You probably have a separate bedroom, and you can close the door. In my one-room apartment, I have to make the (really big) bed so the apartment will look nice.

I keep my bedroom door open 24/7.

I like a lose fit with the bedding. I don't even like a fitted bottom sheet. I just have flat sheets and I don't tuck them nor the blanket in. One blanket has loops at the end and sometimes a toe gets caught during the night and wakes me up. But I have to get up anyway every couple of hours for a trip to the bathroom.

But that door doesn't open to the outdoors, does it? :)

Ha! No. But there is a sliding glass door that opens to the back of the building onto a parking lot. Sometimes my neighbors keep odd hours and their headlights shine in through the drapes in the night.

During my multiple admissions to the hospital, with limited bathroom priveleges (I had to have someone go with me), I learned the joys of a bedside urinal.

When I was in the ICU, I had a slight case of brain-mush. I couldn't remember the word "urinal". The closest thing that came to mind:

Decanter.

Ewwww!

Same here. I also can't go to bed at night if there are any dirty dishes in the sink, etc. I like to wake up & walk into a perfectly clean kitchen in the morning. :)

+1!!

I know that each of us is entitled to whatever they like but wow, I have walked into apartments of friends/known people/escorts/fuck buddies/blah blah and I just can't figure out how they can live in such a messy/dirty environment.....
