We are both well-insured and expect that ultimately the automobile driver will be found to be at fault.

Thank God you and David survived that horrible ordeal. At that speed it could have been the end for you both. Sorry for your suffering but happy you both are on road to recovery. Will remember you guys in my prayers for a speedy recovery. Great to have met you and look forward to seeing you again.

Speedy recoveries for you both. Glad you both wore helmets.

I last had, and rode a bike in college ('60s - yeah, ha ha) and that was when the first push was for helmets. We all resisted until sooner or later when we knew someone who got creamed.

When I first started wearing a helmet it was weirdly comforting.

Now you all do it without thinking, thank god.

Mr. @Eric Hassan I am very happy for you both that the injuries are minor. I totaled my bike 2 years ago and it was not my fault whatsoever! I decided that day to never ride again. You can be a very safe rider and still be put in a dangerous situation by a careless driver. RIP '09 CBR600rr

I hope you have good health insurance. If we can help by raising funds to pay for unexpected medical expenses, etc., please let us know. We have done this before.

 

As the benefactor of said incredible generosity, I can attest to this :) Robster and I weren't so lucky financially and this family (because that's what you all are) were amazing and took one huge concern off our plate.

 

@Eric Hassan, so thrilled you and David are recovering! If there's anything at all we can do, please let us know. On a selfish note, so glad you both were wearing your helmets and neither of your gorgeous faces were hurt. :)

Draven........if I swoon, will anyone help me up. Well will any three help me up.

Fortunately, I have a photographic memory so I can still envision just how tight that white multicolored striped brief speedo was and just how much bulge occurred and where. To those who were not there, briefly: very tight; amazingly contoured, imagine two canteloups fighting to get out of out a rubber sling in the back and salad ingredients of two large walnuts and prize winning cucumber in the front. The rest of the body was equivalent to the muscular anatomy texts with a classically handsome face and a smile like the Cheshire cat, so large and endearing that the rest of him could fade away but the brilliance of the rest refuses to be outshone, only matched.

@Eric Hassan, I'm glad you are so up-beat about your situation and wish you a speedy recovery. You seemed similarly positive on Monday evening when I first heard of the accident. Still in shock, I suspect. I guess the next challenge will be sitting still in aeroplane seats on the way home! (I remember my brother getting a nasty knee wound in a motor bike accident and then within days having to take the three day sleeper train trip from Canberra to Perth for the start of the university term. His cabin mate (a uni friend of his) was NOT impressed when David used the hand basin in their cabin to piss.)

 

Fortune has smiled on you (relatively, at least) but it's a salutary reminder of how tenuous our hold is on this life, and if nothing else does, should prompt us to enjoy each day to the fullest. It's also useful dose of perspective on how small some of the disagreements we have in here really are. My thoughts are with you and David over the coming days.

Purplekow, I had the good fortune to “taste” Draven’s “two cantaloups” and “salad ingredients of two large walnuts

and prizewinning cucumber in front”. An amazing “meal” added to that amazing anatomy and smile on that handsome face. I will have to get another serving or two again sometime, preferably soon.

Funny you bring that up.

 

Some guys get to have all the fun, and others are left doing all the work, with little or no gratitude.

 

A lot of the gossip all last weekend was about how sorry everybody felt for poor Purplekow. Others were frolicking in the sun with margaritas and hunky guys. And here you are stuck providing proctological exams to Vin Marco. Knowing you as I do, I'd bet money you even went as far as providing analysis of body fluids, flexibility training, and testing his blood pressure during strenuous activity.

 

Anyways, let me express our community's admiration of you, and your selfless desire to do the heavy lifting. After all, Vin's legs are quite muscular. Lifting them to perform your examination must have truly been a sweat-inducing labor of love.

Well, I certainly would have helped with the "proper" welcome had you asked but it seems that the seating arrangement had been planned in advance.

I'm finally done unpacking! Last weekend was absolutely wonderful. Every day was relaxing, exhilarating, and ultimately satisfying. Such a friendly crowd full of warmth and intrigue--it's rare that a gathering of such a variety of people can be so pleasant and agreeable....

 

To all the clients I saw and those I met, you couldn't have been more friendly and supportive. I may not come off as nervous, but I was--but that didn't last long. To all providers I met, it was such a pleasure and I'm grateful for all that you shared with me. Loads of sharing goodness. I learned so much about what I can accomplish and about how important this community is to the people within it. I left with a new sense of belonging, new goals I look forward to reaching, and new friends I look forward to seeing again.

 

Also, I had a lot of fun. LOTS and LOTS of fun. I'll spare you the details of said fun because it would take another 10 paragraphs of your time. Eric and David I'm happy you are okay and wish I could graciously relieve you while you are in discomfort.

 

A year is too long to wait for the next one!
