I've grown used to "Ask for Rates" in escort profiles but lately, I've noticed more and more that escorts are putting "Ask Me" with regard to position. Why has this become so prevalent? I can understand calling for rates but what is so difficult about posting Top, Bottom, or Versatile? If I have to call you to find out how much for how long that's one thing, but if I also have to call you to find out what position you prefer, I'm just not going to call. I don't mean to sound bitchy but it's pretty much a buyer's market and I think the minimum of information should be offered in order to attract a customer.

Profiles are paid by the escort; they can say anything (or not) that they're comfortable with. If you disagree with their policy, then you get to vote with your wallet and move on to the next profile.

Sorry but you are being bitchy. This is not the real estate, there is no "Buyers" or "Sellers" market.

Minimum Information? So just what should a TransMan put down for cock size?

Methinks you're thinking with the small head, not the large head. I continually tell the kids that escorting has very little to do with their "Ass", "Dick", or "Mouth." I think that you'll find that most of them agree with me, if not... We'll just not discuss "if not"

Wow. Sorry.

I was just discussing this aspect with a very popular escort in FTL over drinks the other night. For me, hiring has always been more about companionship than anything else. Now that's just me, but it works on my end. My concerns are about the connection emotionally. Now don't get me wrong, I still like the muscle studs, and the guy across the table has to be younger and cuter than I am, but then, that's a pretty low bar to set, so I'm usually good to go. :D

I think the ask me as applied to position could mean three things.

1. They want you to contact them to discuss what they are willing to do. They may charge extra if you want them to do something they may not be so comfortable with. That or it's just an easier way to a la carte their services.

2. Chemistry. They want to be contacted so they can gauge if they have some form of chemistry with the possible client. If the working guy feels simpatico with the client maybe he's up for whatever position.

3. They don't offer topping or bottoming services. They are strictly muscle worship or massage with happy ending... etc. etc.

On this one I tend to disagree with Daddy. I don't think I'm being bitchy if I refuse to show an interest in an escort who in any area says "ask me". Yes an escort has the right to include any information he wishes in his ad but if it doesn't include information I want I have every right to move on without being considered bitchy. Voting with my wallet is just a different way of saying it is a buyers market.

Guys - I think the timing of the Rentboy.com arrests coincides with the increase of guys including "Ask Me" on more and more topics.

As to how you respond (or choose not to respond) to the ads without as much detailed info, each client will be comfortable with different things. Personally, if I lived in a market that had several guys advertising that peaked my interest, those without "Ask Me" responses would likely be the first for me to call, unless of course some the replies eliminated him from my few selection criteria (such as "straight.") However, I live in an area with few advertisers, so I'm not going to let limited information keep me from picking up the phone if I'm interested.

I'm speculating here, but I don't think Daddy considers it bitchy to refuse to show interest in an escort who says "ask me" It seems that Daddy considered the following to be the bitchy part:

...I don't mean to sound bitchy but it's pretty much a buyer's market and I think the minimum of information should be offered in order to attract a customer.

Agree, Rvwnsd, nothing bitchy about not being happy with 'ask me' (and moving on because of it). More so if it were implied, 'Who do these escorts think they are leaving out this important information?' I don't think even that is particulary bitchy, but a perfectly appropriate reply would be, 'Too bad dude, you don't get to choose what they post, so get over yourself and move on'. Actor's post was more like the former reading.

I'd make a distinction between describing the phenomenon and saying that he doesn't like it and then asking if his dislike was reasonable, and saying that escort x does it and he shouldn't because a potential client has a right to know up front. There are different ways of asking, 'What do you guys think about x?'

I get the "ask me" on the rate Field. I don't get it as far as position pref - what is the legal ramification of expressing your bunk preference? At this point, like many others, I skip ads like that. I also skip it bc i don't want to have yet another variable to "dance around" and negotiate on. @actor61, I do think you got cut at the knees unnecessarily. I guess we all have our hot buttons and you triggered one for daddy :). I'd be crying and crawling into a cave if I got put in my place like that. You handled it gracefully.

I think you hit the nail on the head, Sam. Since the Rentboy thing, a smart escort wouldn't want to be advertising certain "illegal" activities in a public way. As far as Daddy's response, I know Daddy cares a great deal about his "kids".. that's why he's Daddy!

I think a smart escort would know that just by indicating their position they aren't more at risk than someone who puts Ask Me. What anyone else puts down is their biz, I don't really mind, but don't insinuate that one is more legal than the other, that might put some folk into a tizzy :)

Point taken, and I totally agree that how an escort words his ad is his business and not mine. But, I did not insinuate that indicating one's position is any more or less legal than "Ask Me." I am certainly NOT a lawyer and don't pretend to be one. The selling of one's time for companionship is legal. In my opinion, it would be better to be discreet than removing any doubt of what's being sold. I apologize to anyone for whom my words caused a tizzy.

I presume it has to do with the ol' chemistry thing.....escorts are human, too

Don't go on spreading such blatant falsehoods. Escorts are like robots. Press a button, get the same genuine response, every time! :D
