"Consulting For Dummies" - I'd hate to see a copy of this fall out of the briefcase of one of our $500/hour business consultants, though not necessarily surprised.

OTOH my copy of Bluff Your Way in Consultancy is both hilarious and a dead-on reminder of how consulting actually works. Like: the fiction is that you the consultant are to go in and give your best neutral advice. But the reality is you have been called in as a last-ditch weapon in some internal war, sort of like the V-2. So your real job is to figure out what the battle is really about, who the two sides are, which side has the stronger hand and is likely to win -- and then write your final report to recommend all the actions that the winning side wants to take. :D

I've always considered them a convenient place to lay blame when things go south: "The consultants said that the Port of Lagos reclamation bonds were rock-solid because the Nigerian government had eradicated all corruption. Thank God we can pay the early termination fee and get out of our consulting agreement."

WHY do the consulters not listen to the consultants? Medical consults were always a pain in the butt.

As an aside: in Medicine, the WORST consult of t he week was always Friday, at 4 PM

I just saw a "Buddhism for Dummies" book. For real.

So what "...for Dummies" books do we NOT need? (that they'll probably eventually publish ANYWAY)

Add yours here.

1). The dummy's book for being a Republican~

The parties over. It's an obvious given~ Don't buy the guide or the book~

2). Dummy's guide to iPhone/iOS whatever: none of them really work and there's already fifteen consumer teaser products in production/"soon to come out" that will keep you hoping for a working product for years to come~ Samsung products are even further behind~

Fishing for Dummies

Come on anybody with a stick, line, hook, and worm can fish.

I always hated putting the worm on the hook. But never had any prob cleaning the fish. I know I'm an odd one.

Hugs,

Gteg
