d.anders Posted August 21 Posted August 21 What a terrific week for late night TV. Rosie O'Donnell knocked it out of the park. Her audience share was 4 times Kimmel's. I think 6.3 million watched night # 1. I thought she did an excellent job. She's very talented. thomas, + Just Sayin, + Travis69 and 1 other 1 2 1
+ FrankR Posted August 21 Posted August 21 I give her kudos - she has done well so far. She pulls in Guillermo as well, which is smart; so it is not all about her or the White House. It is one thing to do it for a few days…it is a different animal to do it for weeks on end and keep it fresh.
Rod Hagen Posted August 21 Posted August 21 I'm not especially her fan, and she did a great job this week. She was a good choice. Lucky her, having Irish Grandparents and being able to live in Ireland. I have a friend who moved there as well. thomas 1

Granted it was "daytime," but experience is experience. She was offered supposedly $100 million not to end that show, but she had already made $100 million, and she wanted to be with her children. It was her decision to end her show. Quite remarkable. 3 hours ago, FrankR said: She pulls in Guillermo as well, which is smart My partner worked with her early on. TonyDown Posted August 21 Posted August 21 She's a great host, a natural. Loved her guests last night, Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally. They talked about Ice Boy!, the musical that finished a record breaking run at the Goodman Theater in Chicago. Perhaps if anyone saw it they might post on the theater threads. thomas 1
BuffaloKyle Posted August 21 Posted August 21 (edited) I watched a little bit of her celeb interviews. I loved watching her talk show when it was on. P.S. I'm gonna grab my popcorn and see how long it takes this thread to go off the rails Edited August 21 by BuffaloKyle + jeezopete, thomas, samhexum and 1 other 1 3

Rod Hagen Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Oh, that's another thing. I felt so old watching her week. Had no idea who any of the guests were except for the woman from Hacks. Josh Gadd? No idea. Nick Oferman? No idea. The guy she was drooling over, no idea. The women guests? Not a clue.

Josh Gadd? No idea. Nick Oferman? No idea. The guy she was drooling over, no idea. Wow, you shocked me. Her name is Jean Smart. Josh Gadd has been around for a long time. He was a working actor before he starred in The Book of Mormom, with Andrew Rannells. His resume is packed. Nick Offerman has also worked a very long time. He superbly played a paranoid gay man in The Last of Us. His resume, too, is packed. And my boyfriend, Sydney James Harcourt, played Rum Tum Tugger in Cats: The Jellicle Ball. He was a sexy cat who oftentimes stole the show. I was happy to see that Rosie was smitten by him, too. I did not know he was gay until I saw his interview with Rosie. I suspect we'll be seeing more of him. (edit) I put this link in the Jellicle Ball thread. Sydney James Harcourt recently posed for Playgirl: https://playgirl.com/entertainment/sydney-james-harcourt-has-nerve/ Edited August 22 by d.anders

Jean Smart is extraordinary, I just have a hard time remembering her name. Apologies, Rosie's guest was not Josh Gadd, it was someone else with a similar name whom she admired and I was unfamiliar. d.anders Posted August 23 Author Posted August 23 17 hours ago, Rod Hagen said: Rosie's guest was not Josh Gadd That's funny. I saw Josh Gadd somewhere recently (looking extremely overweight), and thought it was with Rosie. See, I'm old. You meant Richard Gadd, and you certainly must know him. He won some Emmy's for creating Baby Reindeer, and he created and starred in HBO's Half Man, which I think has its own thread here. As for the women, Hannah Waddingham is quite famous. I haven't seen her in anything, but she's been on so many award shows, it's kinda hard not to know who she is. I remember Ana Gasteyer from SNL. I always thought she was very talented and funny. She can also sing/belt. She was in Wicked for a while. I haven't seen Abbott Elementary, but I've also seen Janelle James on awards shows. I did not know Ashley McBride or Shawn Hatosy. The Grammy Awards usually make me feel old. I don't know most of the singers under 30. Rod Hagen 1
Rod Hagen Posted August 23 Posted August 23 I tend to avoid things like Glee and Wicked and Abbot Elementary. All that positivity. No, I have not seen Baby Reindeer. I remember it being mentioned here and there. I read the description online, it sounds like trauma-porn, like that book I stopped reading 15 years ago, A Little Life, or I Shall Destroy You. Richard Gadd certainly is sexy. Oh, yes I know Hannah Waddingham , I liked her as a guest. She's super sexy too. She's great. Also: Oh, yes, now I recognize Ana Gasteyer. I admired her on SNL. Thank you. thomas 1
