An escort finding it easier to scam you if you host or he does? I worry about an escort coming to my place  me paying him and then he comes up with some bullshit story on why he suddenly has to leave. Has that ever happened to anyone?

I'm not sure this is the right question to ask. Yes, there is a possibility that you could be scammed on either an in- or out-call. Perhaps a more appropriate question is to ask how likely it is that you will be scammed in an escort interaction. If the answer is 'not very likely', then the question of whether it is more likely when you host or when they do, becomes less pressing. 

It's probably more productive to try to understand what things you should look for to assess whether a scam is likely or not. What the yellow and red flags are, how to evaluate their behaviour. Then, when to give the benefit of the doubt and when to withhold it. This would not be the first thread in which this issue had been discussed.

@mike careyhas sensible advice. The red flags (well covered elsewhere on here) are what you should look out for when hiring; the location is very much secondary, if it matters at all.

Whichever location you are using, a good policy to try and keep is when meeting the escort for the first time, meet him in a public area and be prepared to walk away without hesitation if you find anything unsettling about him or his actions.

It’s always better to be in control of your environment.  Whether that’s your home or someplace else, you’re safer in a place of your own choosing

Always  pay after and hire guys with their shit together who escort because they like it and not out of desperation.

We generally do not pay in advance. We might make a deposit. And we almost always host. We've never had any issues beyond the rare poor performer.

In Las Vegas and arranged for an escort.  This was early in my hiring.  I met the escort down at the bar and we had a few beverages. I must admit, he appeared sketchy and sexy. a dilemma for me at the time.  Well sexy won out, whereas now, it would not.  We went back to my room.  He asked to turn on straight porn. which I did.  He wanted to be paid up front, which I did.  Basically, at that point, still dressed, he just lay back on the bed stroking himself and was unwilling to do anything with me except allow me to play with him.  I asked him to disrobe, he refused  He did not leave, but he told me, if I paid him another 100 dollars he would take his clothes off. 

At that point, I was feeling unsafe.  He had a strange affect and he was younger, stronger and angry at that point.  I asked him to leave, which led to a tense moment.  I was by the phone and standing and I called the desk,  He stood and he attempted to take the phone.  I do not know if many of you recall Joe Buck in Midnight Cowboy beating a john with a phone and stuffing it in his mouth.  Well, I do and did.  Fortunately, I was able to get the front desk and just said intruder in my room.  At that point, he stopped reaching for the phone and started reaching for the door.  

Worst escort experience for me and one that would have been avoided if I had just acted on my impulse to walked away.  Only time I ever felt unsafe with an escort.

Scary yes.  Life altering no.  Except that I learned to trust myself and my evaluation of people I meet and take to a private place.  The next day after this, I hired someone else who was fine.

Yes, but at the same time it could have been so much worse.  Plenty of those stories as well, unfortunately.  @purplekow, I’m glad you got out of that situation safe & sound, albeit rattled.
