I, too, am on Mounjaro. Went from 230 to 190 in about 3 to 4 months. I suspect I am just maintaining now too. I'm on the lowest dose. I wonder if I should ask to go up a dose to try and get to 160. I'm just under 5'8" ...

I'd ask.  I didn't see any issues with going from 2.5 to 5 as far as side effects.  Congrats on dropping down 40 lbs in short time!

An update on my weight loss journey. I started Mounjaro on 20 January. I weighed myself this morning and I have lost 4.4 kgs. I’m pleased with that.

Over the last three years, I dropped 4inches in my waist and added a lot of muscle.   In the last few weeks, I gained 10!   My core diet and exercise routines are unchanged.   My only rationale is that I haven’t been diligent in avoiding gluten which triggers an inflammatory response.

So, I’m recommitting to clean eating AND got my first Ozempic shot yesterday - after consulting with my Dr - to see if I can resync the trend.  He recommends Mountjaro, but didn’t have a sample on hand.  So we will go that route if I tolerate the ozempic

I've been on Mounjaro for nearly a year and , please be careful with the dosage. While I did lose the weight, the side effects were way more than I bargained for. I dealt with some severe stomach issues that just wouldn't go away even after I stopped taking it.

To resolve this issue from a legal standpoint, I have been connected with GLP-1 Drug Lawsuits after my doctor admitted the drug caused permanent digestive damage. It’s a lot to handle, so just make sure you’re talking through all the long-term risks with your doctor before you start, especially if you have a sensitive stomach.

My brother a diabetic who needed to lose weight was fine until 7.5 and then the shit hit the fan and everywhere else.  He could not leave his house for more than two weeks and he was off the medication for another month.  In that time he regained the 30 pounds he had lost.

A family member had a similar reaction when raising her dose of Mounjaro. She’s now back on ozempic (which she had been on first) but it’s not really impacting her appetite or helping her lose weight.

I’ve been on montjaro’s lowest dosage for one month

I still lost 12 lbs in a month with no side effects. I’m going to experiment with the next dosage to see if this track record holds…I have no desire to push the limits to where I feel like crap

I was on Ozempic for a couple of year for my diabetes, and while I lost some, it stopped working.

A couple of years later my diabetes results went up a lot so new endocrinologist (after a sea change from Sydney) suggested Wegovy.

Just done 3 months worth and gone from 124 kg to 109 kg, going up a level next week, so far I am happy about how it works.

My only issue is now I have lose skin around my throat - so I guess I will start to look older as I thin down ......

I weighed myself this morning. Down 10.5 kgs since 20 January.

One other by product. My blood pressure has gone right down. I have been taking blood pressure medication for about 20 years but no longer necessary.

I’m 10 weeks in on Mounjaro.  Weight loss is good - 192 to high 170’s- went from 2.5 mg does to 5mg dose.   No improvement in rate of weight loss, but for two days after the shot, my gut is in turmoil and the sight of food is repulsive to me.    I’m stepping back down to 2.5mg

The whole GLP-1 phenomenon scares me a bit, even though I am fit through diet and life-long exercise as some who have met me can attest. I still have a 32” waist at 5’11. I’ve read too many horror stories about side -effects and rapid weight gain once off the meds. That said, the experiences shared in this post confirm that for most it’s worth the weight loss, especially those with diabetes. I imagine these meds will only improve going forward.

My Dr suggested it.  I pushed back due to horror stories - but he suggested that the horror stories were high dosage experiences.

To me, the horror story is that continued results require continuous use - and for discretionary purpose, the word “addiction” can apply

And yes.   You are in fantastic shape and look considerably younger than you are!

I did not have much in the way of side effects with Zepbound(which is the same as Monjauro). The"horrific side effects" are by no means universal.

My Dr explained that the horror stories generally come from higher dosages.   I’m experimenting in the 2.5-5mg range

I just started 2.5 MGS five days ago of Zepbound.    I'm about 6' and 225 and trying to get down to 190, so overweight but not yet obese.

It's working good on curbing my appetite and not eating nearly as much, but I'm also experiencing nausea and vomitted a couple times after lunch.   Hopefully these are just temporary side effects.

I'm a type 1 diabetic, and my blood sugars have been more in range since being on it, but that just might be from eating less.

My insurance won't pay for it since it isn't FDA approved for Type 1 yet and my endo said Zepbound was the best GLP for self pay for weight loss.   It's only $295 a month through Lilly direct with no income limits and they can transfer it for pick up at Walmart

I can only tell you my experience. I don’t know if it’s universal but I’ve been taking it for a long time and I can tell you that now I don’t even notice anything, but it still works. At the beginning, it takes some time to get used to it.

The first thing I noticed was that food did not taste good for a long time and I would go out to eat, and I wouldn’t even want to finish the food on my plate. I lost all enjoyment of food for a while there.

Very quickly, I noticed weight loss like I’ve never seen before.

After several months, I started to feel like I hit a plateau, but for reasons I’m about to explain that was all in my head. My doctor at the time was not very knowledgeable about it as she let me skip a dose increase so I went up 2 levels instead of one. I don’t remember which dose I landed in but  holy crap, I got disgustingly sick after taking that increased dose to the point where I just felt absolutely disgusting for a whole week: serious painful bloating, farts that smelled like death, burps that tasted like rotten eggs.  The bloat was so painful that I could not sleep for three days.. don’t skip levels. Once you injected, there is nothing you can do but wait for the agony to end.

I went back down to the correct increase. Things got normal again after about a week and still didn’t feel like much was going on but weight was still falling off uncontrollably. The weight loss was glorious.

Now I just take it regularly and I’m at probably the lowest weight of my adult life and it’s stabilized. Food tasted fine again and I’m used to eating less. I don’t have the feeling that I need to eat when I’m bored.

So I think if you get past the initial discomfort, the initial hatred of food, and, I’m not gonna lie, some very disgusting burps and farts and your body gets acclimated to it, which can take many months, It’s easy. There’s no side effects at least for me and the weight stays off.
