TonyDown Posted November 7 Posted November 7 I watched Titanic today for the first time. It won 11 Oscars. Yeah, I didn't love it. Call Me By Your Name. Was a smash hit at Sundance. For an indie film, it made a lot of money. I wanted to love it, but I did not love Call Me By Your Name.

As soon as it hit the iceberg I was, “Oh, for shit’s sake just sink already!” CMBYN, however, spoke to the 17 year-old me and the then-50+ year-old me. If you didn’t love it I can respect that. + MikeThomas, mike carey and Danny-Darko 2 1

It was the book CMBYN that I connected with. I remember being 17, and pining for a new, young, Italian adonis social studies teacher. I could imagine spending the summer at a villa with him. 🙂 Unlike the book, the movie didn't move me. Yes. To each his own. Rod Hagen 1

I didn't like Jaws mostly because the shark didn't eat him. It would have been a much more satisfying movie if Dreyfuss's character had been chewed to pieces. I figured you'd want to see this... There's a play written by Robert Shaw's son, Ian (who also played his father on the London stage), about the making of Jaws. It's called The Shark Is Broken, and depicts the three stars sitting on the set of the boat while the crew is repairing the mechanical shark. It is pretty clear that his son thought that Robert Shaw hated Richard Dreyfuss. It also revealed (which was news to me) that Shaw completely rewrote the "Indianapolis" monolog because he didn't like the Benchley draft.

Danny-Darko Posted yesterday at 02:13 AM Posted yesterday at 02:13 AM For those that don't get Citizen Kane, may I suggest then the movie "RKO 281" (1999) which revolves around the controversy of the making and showing of "Citizen Cane" (1941). RKO 281 (TV Movie 1999) - IMDb + MikeThomas, thomas, Rod Hagen and 1 other 2 2
