Fidler Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Just wondering if anyone, professionals or clients, have been negatively impacted by the recent surge of police and national guard to DC? pubic_assistance and Vulgarii 1 1
+ Pensant Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Interesting question. I haven’t been there in 15 years.

Curious as to WHAT you think might be affecting them ? Do professional escorts go around mugging people ? Selling drugs or breaking into cars ? Plenty of D.C. insiders have hired escort services. (Including our current resident in the White House). So I would be surprised to discover that increased policing to be reaching into legitimate escort services. Street-walking (if thats still a thing) and Asian massage parlors who use imported sex-slaves will obviously be under scrutiny. But sex trafficking does draw a line in the sand between people who are coerced into prostitution and those who williningly take-on the business. A drag-net of escorting professionals would stir up way too many associations with Federal Employees and Elected Officials in their mobile phone's directory. Nightowl Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago I know the NG takeover has hurt restaurants as people stay away from areas where the NG is active. It probably would only affect clients or providers who actually live or go into those areas, and only if they get stopped for being the wrong color. I probably won’t go into the city for a provider unless we are meeting outside of the active areas, though. I’m hoping to meet up with my new favorite provider in NW DC soon. Guess I’ll find out more then… I agree with @pubic_assistance that there won’t be increased policing of the sex trade. It’s too “niche” and won’t bring the desired level of fear to the general population.

What evidence do you have of this claim? It's the end of August and DC restaurants are ALWAYS slow end of August. So by what metrics are you claiming the National Guard would have a negative impact on a restaurant ? BSR, + BOZO T CLOWN, Walt and 1 other 2 1 1

NJF Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago The guards set up a checkpoint on 14 th street and stopped everyone passing through. If you know DC, that is a busy street in NW with a lot of restaurants and tourists. It is definitely disruptive. Nightowl, Fidler and pubic_assistance 1 1 1

Causation and Correlation. Everyone leaves town during August for summer holiday. THAT always affects the restaurant business in town. Just because someone who has an agenda tries to relate the two doesn't mean the presence of the National Guard CAUSED a drop in restaurant attendance. Most of the interviews from Washington DC residents have been very POSITIVE and they say they can finally feel SAFE to go out at night.

But even a casual Google brings up results that agree with my observation. Washington, DC Travel Tips (DC by Foot) | i am planning on visiting... WWW.FACEBOOK.COM i am planning on visiting washington dc during the time of august 16-23 . is there anything i need to know before hand [ like parades, or specially planned events] . thanks As far as the approval of the increased security, there are MULTIPLE tik tok videos and other social media posts applauding the move. Unfortunately I can't post them here because they are all POLITICALLY charged and there is a ban on political posts on the site. SO you'll have to do your own Googling on that. + BOZO T CLOWN 1
Fidler Posted 8 hours ago Author Posted 8 hours ago I can imagine many escorts do not have their passports or other “papers “ on them to make it through checkpoints. Btw, so far the deployments have not focused on high crime neighborhoods and only where the performance can be observed by the cameras. + sync and Nightowl 2

Any clients that fit the profile (i.e. a person of color) are easy prey for the ICE quota numbers. I personally stopped venturing into NYC until my renewed passport card was received. Hopefully my enhanced NY State driver license and renewed passport card will be sufficient to prevent my being collected into a deportation detention facility (not joking). + BOZO T CLOWN, pubic_assistance, Nightowl and 1 other 1 1 2

+ BOZO T CLOWN Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago 10 hours ago, Fidler said: Just wondering if anyone, professionals or clients, have been negatively impacted by the recent surge of police and national guard to DC? The last time Bozo was in DC was about 15 years ago. Bozo got off the Amtrak with some friends and what we observed was shocking. Migrants and panhandlers at Union Station walking up to people, accosting them and police standing around doing nothing. The smell of urine was everywhere. Getting out of the station, there were homeless camps at Union Park. These eyesores were all over DC. We were in DC for about 5 days, and there were many areas that we felt unsafe. This is our nation's capital. It should be clean and pristine. It should be a showcase. Instead, it was crime infested with homeless camps in just about every park. The National Guard moving into the tourist areas was long overdue. This move will give the millions of tourists a feeling of safety, and allow for the DC police force to deploy into the more crime ridden areas protecting the local population. The increased presence of the National Guard has already produced dividends. Bozo can't wait for the National Guard to move into other cities so we can take the streets back from the criminals. And it shouldn't be hundreds of National Guard troops. It should be thousands. BTC 🤡 pubic_assistance, + sync, MikeH10 and 1 other 2 1 1

Similarly, Las Vegas Strip revenue is down over 40% from last year. There's no homeland security here... Yet. Surveys of past tourists say it's because prices have gotten to high, there are endless fees everywhere, so tourists no longer see Las Vegas as value. Yet the local labor union for the casinos have already started to place the blame on national politics, not on the fact that consumers no longer see value in the product. I've eaten out a lot less recently. I'm not avoiding Homeland Security; I'm avoiding prices which have climbed so high I don't see as much value in the services. BeamerBikes Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago While I’m not a fan of homeless encampments, panhandlers, and the other downsides of urban life, use of National Guard troops isn’t the answer. It is however the easy answer and the flashy show of force to push the problem somewhere else. Further I feel bad for the National Guard troops called up for deployment and taking the pay hit from loss of pay from their day jobs. This isn’t a noble calling like helping a disaster relief zone or a true military deployment. It’s a bunch of props and toy soldiering at a real cost to those who signed up for actual emergencies. Further, I didn’t feel safe with the mix of military and civilian police forces in Rio, Brazil; it just reminded me how much of a powder keg it all could be. When US military forces patrol our big cities, we won’t be “safe” - we will have lost our freedoms for “public safety”. Curfews, show me your papers checkpoints, and lockdowns will inevitably follow if this continues. Some on this forum might be alright with that. I’d rather not allow my government force interactions with people who just want to be left alone. MikeThomas, + Travis69, NJF and 2 others 1 4

They have demonstrated a consistent commitment to both separating families whereas most providers are single and also picking up people with no crime records whereas provider are indeed breaking some laws.
