muslnicknj Posted July 11 Posted July 11 Is anyone else being prompted to upload ID verification when they visit the Rentmen site? Yeah I’m not uploading my passport or license in order to view someone’s profile!
scopitone Posted July 11 Posted July 11 same - messaged their web support for clarification and waiting for response.
KevinFL Posted July 11 Posted July 11 Yes, Florida also. I assumed it was coinciding with the Porn requirements here in this state.
FunGuyUS Posted July 11 Posted July 11 since this is considered a porn site, they want age verification in order to proceed. Since this Supreme Court ruling this will probably pop up all over the place. Anthony 1
scopitone Posted July 11 Posted July 11 (edited) webmaster response from RM: "This is bug we are trying to fix. Thank you for your patience." and now the site seems to be back to normal. Edited July 11 by scopitone
+ FLOutdoors Posted July 11 Posted July 11 You may bypass this requirement by using a VPN (such as Hide.meVPN) and selecting any foreign country as your IP address. Then log in to RentMen.eu…..There are previous useful threads on this subject Anthony, pubic_assistance, + PhileasFogg and 1 other 2 2

d.anders Posted July 11 Posted July 11 One guy says Supreme Court ruling, while the other guy says glitch. Does the truth lie somewhere in between? If ID verification is going to be a thing, then you can probably say goodbye to anything porn related. Maybe this is the only way to keep kids away, but I seriously doubt it. I can see it coming. mike carey Posted July 11 Posted July 11 The screen appeared for me as well, and I'm not in the US, so likely site-wide, not targetted. In any case someone asked RM and they said it was an error, so 'is it a glitch?' is no longer a speculative answer as to what happened, it's not what happened. If in doubt apply Occam's Razor.

JoeHonolulu Posted July 11 Posted July 11 Yes!! that’s been happening because RM falls under the category of adult content sites, so now requiring age verification due to new regulations is a think. Ever since that recent Supreme Court ruling, we’ll probably start seeing stuff like this more often across different platforms. One way around it: try using a browser like Opera, which has a built-in VPN blocker. With that, you won’t get the ID verification prompt, and bonus!! you’ll actually be able to see the full written reviews on profiles, not just the star ratings like we usually get in the U.S. Hope that helps someone! marylander1940, thomas, Anthony and 1 other 2 2

And sometimes it not even load the full website properly, I suggest just download the Opera app, it’s easier, faster and even safer marylander1940 1

The "guy who says it is a glitch" works for RM, so the truth is the ID upload requirement was a glitch. The fact that it happened to users outside of the USA and that it no longer happens substantiates this. mike carey and scopitone 1 1
+ azdr0710 Posted July 11 Posted July 11 I'm seeing a similar thing on LPSG the last couple days. Anthony 1
Anthony Posted July 16 Posted July 16 Anyone have info on fake IDs. Need to be prepared. Please DM me.
BuffaloKyle Posted July 16 Posted July 16 The thing is RentMen is not USA based so they actually don't have to follow the ruling anyway. The ruling only applies to porn sites based in the USA. If a porn site in Europe doesn't wanna screen it's USA visitors there's nothing we can do about it. Anthony and Luv2play 2

While a porn site hosted in Europe and not screening U.S. visitors operates outside of direct U.S. jurisdiction, making it difficult to enforce laws like age verification or content restrictions, the U.S. still has several tools and legal avenues to pressure or restrict access from within its borders.
