liubit Posted June 28 Posted June 28 Has anybody tried fat freezing (cryolipolysis) to treat stubborn fat deposits? Thanks for your inputs, guys!
+ nycman Posted June 28 Posted June 28 It works. Somewhat. It takes a long time to see any results and they are gradual so it’s hard to really appreciate them. I know someone who did one love handle and not the other as an experiment. Six months later, looking at him across the room with a shirt on it was hard to tell the difference between the treated side and the untreated side. When he lifted his shirt and you grabbed his love handles however, there was a noticeable difference. Be carful treating the area right under your belly button. It’s tempting because it’s a place (in addition to the love handles) that men often deposit fat. I’ve seen several case of men developing a noticeable "divot" months after treatment. Nothing horrible, but it looked a little odd. And short of a tummy tuck or liposuction, there’s really no easy way to fix it. A possible complication is paradoxical adipose hyperplasia. It’s rare, but you should know what it is before having cryolipolysis done. Google it, Knowledge is power. It’s not a miracle cure, but if the question is "does it work?", the answer is "sort of, yes". marylander1940, Lotus-eater and thomas 1 1 1
liubit Posted June 28 Author Posted June 28 (edited) Thank you very much for your advice, @nycman I particularly appreciate your very sensible comments on the area below the navel, because that is precisely the zone I was targeting. I will proceed with caution. One of my biggest fears is to fall in the hands of those dime-a-dozen scammers who will promise countless miracles to make a buck. Edited June 29 by liubit

I knew an age management doc who decided to add it to the services he offered. He went off and did a course or workshop of a few days, bought the equipment and hung out his shingle. He might have fit in the category of "dime-a-dozen scammers." If I wanted cold liposuction, I don't think I would have gone to him. liubit 1
LVtop Posted July 6 Posted July 6 Be careful, there is more adipose hyperplasia associated with fat freezing than the industry wants you to know. If you are going to do it, make sure the provider is using the most recent model of the machine. Ask what year the machine was developed. If older than 5 years, be careful. liubit and BSR 2
Bokomaru Posted July 6 Posted July 6 I paid several thousand dollars for my spouse to do it and the results were very minimal. He just wanted a bit of sculpting, he’s not really that heavy. But even his modest goals weren’t achieved. I think he did about 6 sessions, but it might have been more. I tried the similar version of this that is laser based. It was a total disaster. A ten on the pain scale, no fat reduction, and significant bruising. My result was definitely atypical though. If you go onto Real Self and research, you’ll start to see patterns in people’s comments about whether these procedures are worth it. For instance, with laser fat reduction, people who experienced the least amount of pain also seemed to have the best result in fat reduction. BSR and liubit 2
sydneyboy Posted July 7 Posted July 7 The problem for men with protruding tummies is that most of the fat is behind the stomach wall and “loose” fat is only a fraction of the issue. Even procedures like liposuction will have minimal cosmetic value not to mention some of the other dubious procedures mentioned here. samhexum 1
jeezifonly Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Is this a medical procedure or a spa/specialty/hybrid/whatever procedure? A medical physician participating? A licensed Esthetician? High level technical and artistic skills demanded I imagine. samhexum 1
CuriousByNature Posted July 9 Posted July 9 I've been sticking my belly inside the freezer for several weeks without any result. It may even have gotten bigger because when I open the freezer door I see the ice cream, and well, you know the rest. liubit, + ApexNomad, + nycman and 2 others 5
