Last night saw it and very much liked it.  The theater was packed if not sold out (seems only SuperHero and Space movies Sell out anymore).  Amazing how many straight men with their girlfriends at this Gay Fetish Love Story.

I saw Pillion this week and right afterwards saw a BDSM film, the new Wuthering Heights.

I can't decide whether I want to see it or not-but then I've never even seen Brokeback Mountain or Call Me By Your Name. When it came out, I was totally closeted (rather than only semi-closeted as I am now), and I lived in a smaller city of about 300,000. I was a little afraid of running into someone I might know. (It could happen. There was an escort in Dallas back then named Rocky. I can't remember his real name. I flew him to my city for an overnight. I almost never saw people I knew from work outside work. We went to a breakfast spot the following day before he left. Who should walk in but someone I saw on a frequent basis at work. And Rocky gave his name as Rocky. I was a bit embarrassed- or at least worried about what my colleague might think). 
 

I've thought about watching it and Call Me By Your Name a few times. But really I don't think I'm usually that fond of gay love stories. The guys are too incredibly handsome, and I identify too much with the klutzy, fat gay best friend.

When a misunderstood deliberately marginalized community serves as backdrop for a relationship movie, I think a good portion of the script has to be spent in (educational) exposition, in order for audiences to see the common humanity thru the fog of "ew, what?" 
All films are one layer of fog, consensual DomSub another...

I just saw it tonight. It's based on a book. I purposely worked hard to not read much about this film before seeing it. I did enjoy the film's craft. I could watch it again, and probably will. I thought the actors did a great job, especially Harry Melling. I found Harry very difficult to watch. I don't find him attractive, and his bad teeth really bothered me. So many close-ups. But he did a great job with the character.

Alexander Skarsgård was wonderful. I'm happy with the amount of nudity, but I always wish he would do more. The prosthetic artist is credited at the end, so we know the cock is not his. But whoa that body. Nicely oiled and beautifully lit.

The parents were well cast, too.

It is a shocking film for our times. I'm so glad it got financed. America needs to see more, and learn more about how complicated sex really is.

I think it is amazing that actors like Alexander Skarsgård and Harry Melling agreed to do this film. The sex scenes are never easy to film for anyone, the crew and the actors, but especially the naked actors. In the wrestling scene, it looks to me like Harry's cock was nearing full erection state, and they went with it. It made the cut, even his cock adjustment was not edited out.

Often.  In Pillion the only "teaching" moment was when one character says to the Sub's Mom something like "The things you want for your son are not necessarily the same things that make him happy".  Something like that.  In other words, Dom/Sub is not the relationship you imagined for your boy, but it fulfills him so find comfort in that (actually, I just said it better).

If only escorts could have that conversation with parents.

I saw it last night and really enjoyed it; the power imbalance was fascinating, and how I was cheering for Colin (Melling) when he wanted more from Ray (Skarsgård); I am tempted to go see it again in a couple of days!
