NYMassageAddict Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Is anyone else slowly getting burned out by massages? I started receiving them with frequency maybe 12 years ago. The unknown nature of what is about to happen was such a rush. A thrill. Every masseur had a different touch. Some would keep you draped until late. Some would start with you uncovered. The various amounts of undress for each masseur was a surprise. Now it’s like… I guess I’ve just experienced it all. There is very little thrill. You know if you go to certain places, you’ll get a happy ending. Because of reviews, you also know how each masseur operates. Im not saying I don’t like or appreciate reviews, but I find myself no longer thrilled by a massage. Sure, I still get one on occasion but the outcome is a reducing level of satisfaction. Anyone else experiencing this or just me? Aaron 90, + muscleboyinsd, pubic_assistance and 4 others 2 1 1 3

Anyone else experiencing this or just me? For me it's just the opposite. When I hire a massuer, I am looking for really good technique to work my shoulders and legs and glutes and feet. I'll gladly see a regular who knows what he's doing with my muscles or a well-reviewed massuer with recommendations for deep tissue, rather than book a stranger who might/might not give deep tissue. Of course I'm always naked and I'll probably leave "happy" only about half the time; but, it's the quality of the massage that keeps me going back. Sensual elements added to a massage is like icing added to a cake. I don't want to eat a glob of icing on lousy cake. The key for me is to ignore all reviews on here asking "HE?" or "MT?", as those seldom lead to great sensual massages for my preference. TennisPro35 Posted March 11 Posted March 11 I share the sentiment. The first year and a half of when I was even introduced to RMasseur and MF… trips were booked left and right. Nowadays, it’s just when the mood arises. Personal points to ponder (for me) are the expense and my addictive personality (using it loosely). $$ wise, I just equate it to gambling — do not think of the loses. Aaron 90 Posted March 11 Posted March 11 I totally relate. The thrill has lessened and I only visit a few time to time. And unfortunately the ones I really enjoyed moved away. Yoyohey 1
Nightowl Posted March 12 Posted March 12 I hire maybe once every 2-3 months so I haven’t gotten jaded. The lead-up anticipation is still agonizing and the experience itself is still exciting. I do understand where you’re coming from though. A couple of years ago I had two erotic massages in a week. The first was exciting but the second was “meh” even though the provider was great. I think it was that experience that prompted me to space them out by months rather than weeks or days. Johnrom and Whippoorwill 2

Anyone else experiencing this or just me? I have been thinking the exact same thing! I have three masseurs who I alternate between... With the first one, I had several massages with no sexual touch. Then one day, he noticed that I was erected under the sheet and began to stroke me to orgasm. It felt amazing. The next couple times were also pretty good. Then it became predictable and a little boring. It lacked novelty. So I found a different masseur. I couldn't tell if it was erotic or not from his website/description, but when I arrived he requested that I stripped down in front of him and there was no drape. The massage continued normally without eroticism until the very end, and it was quite a surprise. I've seen him a few times since then also. But the same thing... predictable = lack of novelty. so I sought another... met with him 3-4 times, and same deal, I catch myself searching for others/new ones...
LOLO Posted March 12 Posted March 12 I had a similar experience -- took a break for a year or so, now enjoying them again, but it will only be an occasional indulgence going forward, I think. Johnrom 1

Anyone else experiencing this or just me? No, but because I don't abuse it. I take time between massages, I'm also very selective about places and providers. Additionally, I do like a good therapeutic massage for the purpose of relaxation or physical therapy, and I enjoy that. I do feel like if I do it too often or too many times it will lose its appeal, so I [think] I understand where you come from. I never thought of reviews as spoilers. Now I wonder. AtticusBK Posted March 14 Posted March 14 I wouldn’t say I’m experiencing burnout as I do enjoy the therapeutic part. But, I’ve been going to 27 since just this past Fall, and I’m finding that I’m less and less aroused. Not sure if it’s me, if I need more sensual and less therapeutic, if I need to go less often (1-2x per month now), or what.
+ KensingtonHomo Posted March 14 Posted March 14 I don't do it with any great regularity. Maybe twice a month. I also tend to stick to a stable of regulars who are diverse enough that it doesn't get boring. Whippoorwill, BaronArtz, pubic_assistance and 1 other 3 1

I don't think that could ever happen to me. My body loves to be worked on. Back in the day, when massages were $60, I had one a week, sometimes two. They really helped my body and mind deal with stress. For many years I went to a guy on 45th St. who gave equal time to my feet and skull. There is something about deep reflexology on the feet that sends my body to the moon, and keeps it there for a good week, walking on clouds. Also, there is nothing like a 12-minute shampoo, without soap and water. My scalp loves being scratched and manipulated. Even now, I've been doing physical rehab for the past 3 months, and part of the therapy is massage. My PT is a woman, and at first I was reluctant, until I felt her commanding grip. She is so good, I asked if she freelances, and she said no. Sure, sensual is really nice, especially from a sexy, caring provider. My body doesn't care about sex, it just loves to be worked over. The service makes me feel 20 years younger. dutchal, + Jamie21, Ingress and 6 others 7 1 1

Anyone else experiencing this or just me? It depends on what you expect from the massage. When I get one, it is to have my muscles worked on, my neck and back loosened up, and to walk away relaxed. I don't approach massages as discount escort sessions. While playtime can be a welcomed addition to the massage, there are times when I don't feel like playtime. Shy88 Posted March 23 Posted March 23 When I first started out, I used to go like once a month. Trying out various masseurs to see who I like. Now, maybe twice or three times a year. Guess its more to due to money than anything else. Luckily, I found one that is good to go back to.
+ GoingGood Posted March 24 Posted March 24 Actually the opposite for me. I have not had a sensual massage since 2022. Thinking of having one soon.
Ingress Posted April 4 Posted April 4 I tend to book 1-2x a week and get burned out every so often, also addictive personality here. I tend to reset and go get purely therapeutic massages or none at all. After a good respite, I feel I can enjoy it more again and usually after months have gone by, there is usually someone new to try by that time. Whippoorwill 1

Ali Gator Posted April 5 Posted April 5 I love a good, relaxing (erotic) massage. If I could have one at least once a month, I would - at a cap at $200. However, there are not enough masseurs in my location (southeastern New England) and I refuse to drive to the Boston area to see one for a number of reasons (traffic, driving, parking in an area I'm not familiar with ). The masseurs in my immediate area have been tried by me, and have not lived up to my expectations. So I depend on travelers to come through my area, and I have found a couple I really enjoy and try to make my schedule work with theirs. The problem is, they don't come through often enough - and when they do, they advertise for a weekday for a 24 hour period. As a working man, that means I have to try to get an evening / after-work appointment with them and they are usually booked if I don't act quickly. So far, the last time I booked a provider was one of my favorites who traveled through here the first weekend of February. I would try some new providers who travel through, however paying 'escort prices' for a masseur who just joined RMass a month ago is not what I'm interested in.
pubic_assistance Posted April 5 Posted April 5 It sounds like there is a split here between gentlemen that find a regular who suits their needs (my personal preference) and those who are always seeking a new thrill and a new face. (Or dick) I ponder what the percentage is of the thrill seekers who have been single all their life, and those who are in relationships. I notice that a lot of gay men who have enjoyed the availability of easy-sex over the years, get no joy out of a predictable routine. The thrill-seeking of a lifetime of anonymous hook ups, affects their desires in other areas such as massage where the thrill of the new is more important than the quality of massage or the comfort of a provider who has become a trusted friend. + muscleboyinsd, NYMassageAddict, + Vegas_Millennial and 1 other 4
dcguy20 Posted April 5 Posted April 5 (edited) I think when push comes to shove, I've just lost interest. My desire has certainly been waning since the beginning of the year. The 3 masseurs I saw regularly have left DC altogether. There was another one I stopped seeing 2 years ago due to his unpredictable mood. Edited April 5 by dcguy20 Added text

Thelatin Posted July 7 Posted July 7 I've come to enjoy meeting new masseurs. It is the thrill of seeing what they will do next, how far they are going to go. I'm always surprised when they assume I'm ready for more (clean) and start messing about lol. MikeBiDude, Lazar3 and Johnrom 2 1
