I’ll usually look at my bill on my hotel app, or on the TV set. I will say you’re right @Lucky if there’s an issue on the bill it’s better to deal with it then/there. I often find hotel awards credits (i.e. $20/food beverage credit) not on my bill…and it’s very difficult to deal with this later, they’ll credit on the spot at the front desk. That said…I rarely check out in person, and in fact with many of my hotel apps I don’t even check in with a live person, I get a digital key, do online check in and pick a room before arrival, and I’m done. I’ve done some visits where I don’t have contact with any hotel personnel whatsoever. pubic_assistance and + Pensant 1 1

I’ll never let a providers stay in a room that’s been rented in my name…and I’ve been asked to do that 3-4 times by providers. The times I was asked, it was because they wanted to go online and use the room to see more clients. So I was thinking maybe I should just book a cheap hotel near where he lives since he has room mates and can't host. Trouble is, I'm concerned about the awkwardness of checking out of my hotel 2 hours after i just checked in. Do people still do this even? I've always checked out just in case. Have you guys ever encountered this? I would imagine the front desk knows what you did , do they even care or are some liable to snitch? If it's 2 1/2 hours away why not just stay the night at the hotel? Unless it's such a cheap hotel where it's one you don't wanna spend the whole night at. But after driving 2 1/2 hours there, having sex, and probably showering and getting some food the last thing I'd wanna do is drive another 2 1/2 hours back home. mike carey, Moke, pubic_assistance and 3 others 6
Colton Posted February 12 Posted February 12 While I don’t always check out, I try to return the plastic key cards to the front desk so they can be reused. Its the least I can do to reduce plastic waste.
+ Pensant Posted February 12 Posted February 12 I could care less what the staff think of my visitors. In fact, I often kiss them when I meet them in the lobby. No one really cares anyway. d.anders Posted February 12 Posted February 12 When I traveled for business, I often pre-paid online. Most hotels allow you to do this these days. There were many meetings/appointments when I did not have time to deal with the check-out procedure, if there was one, and I often used the room for as little as 4 hours. Some of my check-outs were at 4 am, and there was no one at the desk. Everything is about speed and convenience these days. Many hotel key cards are one-time use only. Some can get re-programmed and used again. Hard to tell with post-Covid rules. The days of returning a key have been long gone, unless you're in a special boutique place with fancy furnishings. I always left my key cards in the room for the housekeeper to deal with, as per front desk instruction. As for extra-charges fear, don't use anything in the room that requires a charge. If an accident happens on your bill, a simple phone call will usually fix any error. Most hotels only care about being paid for the overnight. They aren't going to analyze or pay attention to your comings and goings, unless you behave in a peculiar manner. If you only use the hotel for 2 hours and leave, no one at the hotel will know that you left for good unless you tell them, and with a pre-pay, there is no need for after-checkin discussions. It's not like you're going to have lots of luggage and require porter help, unless you're planning to bring in your own sex sling and mount it to their ceiling. Thelatin Posted February 12 Posted February 12 I always check out via the app, or if they don't have that in person. Why? I like to be able to check in early if a room is available. As a courtesy to the next travel who might want to check in early, house keeping can have the room I left cleaned and ready. One hand washes the other. Moke 1

One hand washes the other. It doesn't work that way. Housekeeping is required to give each room fresh bedding, even if it looks as if it wasn't slept in. They aren't going to be putting their occupation at risk with a used condom or drug needle mixed in with the sheets for the next unsuspecting guest. At a different age in my lifetime, one time I licked a plate completely devoid of food in a restaurant, and told everyone at the table that this plate is spotless, and can skip the dishwasher for the next family. It would be many years before I would use my talented tongue in other places and not receive looks of horror.

dutchal Posted February 12 Posted February 12 I've used the dayuse app several times to book rooms for ~10-~3. I always check out in person to be sure there's no misunderstanding about when I was done with the room. The other guy has sometimes been standing there with me either at check-in or check-out or both, and none of the staff has even blinked an eye. + poolboy48220 Posted February 12 Posted February 12 I hooked up with a guy from the gym & got a room at a nearby hotel. I left the key in the room when I left (after a few hours use), housekeeping was walking by in the hall & asked if I was done so they could clean the room. In retrospect, I should have hung onto the room in case the guy wanted a repeat after his bartending shift that night 😁 Whippoorwill, polythome, viewing ownly and 4 others 2 1 4

Whippoorwill Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Speaking of hotels not caring what you do in your room, when I was young I used to stay in cheap hotels in Paris...there were many hotels in tourist friendly neighborhoods, in fine old Hausmannian buildings, with formerly luxurious rooms now a little shabby, that had not yet been "Americanized"...iffy elevators, no room service, etc. One time I was coming back from a sex club at four in the morning and had to ring the bell as there was no doorman and they locked up at night. After ringing many times, a naked guy finally stood up behind the front counter, and buzzed me in. Then his naked trick for the night stood up next to him. If I hadn't been fully sexed out, we probably could have had a three-way right behind the counter. And they would hardly have been shocked if I'd had a companion with me. + Just Sayin, 56harrisond, spidir and 4 others 5 2

In Amsterdam, when i was younger and fresh faced, I was checking into a family-run hotel on Kaisersgracht with the front desk receptionist late at night (i think around 11 pm). The front desk guy flirted with me a little - I think he was an italian student doing some parttime overnight shifts in the hotel. Since they were on a skeleton staff and the elevator wasn't working, he offers to lug my suitcase to my room. As we're heading up the narrow staircase, I could see his bubble butt straining from his tight pants... we climbed up a bit more, chatted about the gay bars nearby etc. As we approached my room, he suggested that better entertainment could be found inside... and that's how we had a little torrid fling for next few days. He wasn't a rentboy... just a horny guy meeting another (tired) horny guy. Edited February 12 by cany10011 + Vegas_Millennial, Moke, Rob Toronto and 9 others 3 9

I’ve never seen a housekeeping cart with a stack of card keys. If I was a housekeeper planning on returning the left keys to the front desk, I would keep them in my cart as I cleaned. If I was a housekeeper looking to get the job done as fast as possible, I would put the card keys in the trash and never think about them again. Considering you usually have to walk past or near the front desk to exit the hotel, just return the keys to the front desk and then enjoy your plastic straw knowing you did a little (the bare minimum?) to save the world. + Vegas_Millennial 1

If you were to just leave the key on the desk and walk away...technically it's a security risk as that key card is laying there unattended and does still give access to that room. I've occasionally seen hotel desks with a little mail slot to drop your card. If that exists, I would make use of it. Otherwise the card stays in the room and housekeeping can do with it as she pleases.

I have departed numerous times when I offered access to housekeeping already in my room. When I handed my card key to a housekeeper, it was always put in her uniform's front pocket. I don't typically analyze housekeeper's carts, but I have helped myself to some shampoo bottles and hand towels on occasion, and never noticed key cards in the cart. As someone said, the cards are "active" until they are not. For safety sake, I'm sure each hotel has instructions for housekeeping on how to handle left key cards. I've also seen a housekeeper hand over my key card to the head housekeeper, governing my floor. I'm sure each hotel has its safety protocols, since so many people have access to your room during your stay, no matter what type of entry method you are given.
