Serving as a "greeter" at New Year's party

A regular client who is known for his parties and social gatherings is having a New Year's party and has ask if I would be willing to serve as one of the "greeters"  for guests.    My attire is a speedo and wear a big smile and welcome guests to the party and direct them to food,  beverages,  restrooms and other needs.   I will also be delivering things like drinks and requests.

I haven't done this previously in this large a gathering.   I was told that   not "if",  but "when"   I'm ask about spending time alone with guests,  I should give my number out,  but continue to do the assigned duties.     Makes sense,   but is it really that easy?    I'm sure there are providers here that do or have done this kind of thing.     I've done small parties, but not something with in excess of a hundred guests.     Thoughts?

Yes, it’s that easy. With tipsy guests around, you’ll be handing out your number. A lot. Looks like you’ll have a busy January ahead!

Another perspective.

Without an actual guarantee of anything, will this really be worth your time? 

Are you willing to put up with the immense bullshit that a situation like this entails?

If something goes wrong, will this jeopardize your relationship with your existing client?

As my grandmother used to tell me, 'don't jump over dollar bills to get at nickels.'

And as I like to say...  'Know your worth and then add tax'

He is paying me and we've had the discussions about my going the work for the time expected.    He understands  (and suggested)   interested parties give me their phone numbers for further interest later.  I think we are of the same mind on expectations.

I have done this kind of thing a few times, not for a client but for a professional acquaintance. I attend as a demo masseur at his massage themed parties. Think house party with a carefully curated guest list of around 80 people who have paid to attend. It’s a mix of couples and singles, male and female (about 50:50) of all orientations: straight, gay, bisexual, bi curious (whatever that is) and obviously all open to the idea of erotic massage and sex in a group social setting even if for many of them this is new to them. 

It can be challenging because you’re working so you need to stay aware of what’s going on. The host asks me to get things going of course (not a problem for an exhibitionist!) but also to keep an eye out for anyone being harassed or pestered which can happen even when the guest list has been carefully vetted. He also asks me to pay attention to those who may be on their own or anxious and if say a husband wants to explore with a gay guy then I help him with that. 

I find it’s really interesting watching people and being involved with the dynamics at such a party. I’ve got plenty of new clients from them too. I’d definitely recommend doing something like it even if it takes up time. I usually spend around 6 hours at the party (including being there before the start) so in terms of money it’s not the same value as a client session but it’s definitely worth it for me in terms of profile and learning.

Despite me liking Benjamin Nicholas' post because I share his skepticism as to whether this engagement would be worthwhile for you, I will offer the following since it sounds like you are inclined to accept the gig: Make sure the host/your client has communicated the same boundaries to both you and the guests who will be in attendance.  I can only imagine how difficult it would be for you if the clients think they have been invited to a party where they are free to engage with you sexually but you think you are just there as a waiter who's also eye candy, collecting numbers for later business engagements.  I can see many party guests trying to go farther with you than you wish, particularly after they get drunk, and if the host has been ambiguous about what is and isn't allowed then you could find yourself feeling taking advantage of.

Hell, I say go for it, have fun, tease just a tiny bit (you're being paid to work there, don't forget), be professional, keep your host happy!  What a cool gig!

Put it just below the hemline of the speedo, when someone asks about your services, you can smile, turn around, lower the speedo just enough to show the tattoooo.  they can point their phone at it.  

if you did that to me, I'd squeeal and faint before I got my phone out though.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of his guests will hire you later after knowing you're available for intimate meetings.

The only possible thing I'd be worried about is if you do have a tipsy guest they might try to get a little handsy with you or be a little outspoken about wanting to hookup with you.

This sounds like a fun gig.

A couple of years ago I was hired by one of the bars in the Castro to be their event photographer for their NYE party. It was lots of fun, and I loved engaging with the patrons. It was also hard work, and I was exhausted at the end. I collected a few phone numbers, some from people who wanted to get copies of their pics, and others who wanted to hook up. I also exchanged contact info with one of the gogo dancers who wanted to get new pics for his socials. However with these contacts I didn't hawk my escort services, as it would have seemed out of context and might have reflected badly on the bar.

So I'd think the one thing to think through (if you haven't already) is that if you give out your number, how will the guest know whether it's in the context of being for hire, versus interest in a hookup? Admittedly, it shouldn't be as big a surprise that the speedo-clad host is available for hire, but probably good to think through how this might play out.

It was great!   I had a fantastic time,   the weather was mild,  so a speedo wasn't bad.    People were friendly and I handed out my name and number quite a number of times.

The client was very happy with how things turned out.    I offered to lend a hand with some of the physical work.    Some of those responsible for the setup didn't show.    I did have several guests who asked if we could simply go upstairs for some private time,  but that was not part of the arrangement.     I have time with them scheduled for later.

Hey Nate,  it was awesome.   The Turbo was a hit,   got a number of compliments about the speedo and what brand it was!    I'm still waiting to see YOU in your new Turbos.!   I'm sure you look fantastic.     Anyway,   it was fun and the client said he wanted me back should he have a summer party.
