It seems lots of people are ditching X and moving to Bluesky.  Not wanting to support Elon anymore I decided to give it a try.  It downloaded fine on my phone but I haven't yet finished the profile set up or started following people yet.  When I downloaded to my iPad it keeps the same dimensions as on my phone when the iPad is landscape with bare space on each side.  Is there a way to get it it viewable on the whole screen of the iPad?  I follow lots of porn stars and watching their videos on a smaller screen is not ideal.

I've just joined BlueSky.  I'll set up two accounts.  I already set up one G-rated with a lot of news, current affairs, and safe-for-work feeds.  I will set up another for following NSFW content too.

I agree, that iPad interface isn't great, yet.  I'll bet that the growing popularity of BlueSky will prompt a lot of site growth and app improvements soon.

In the meantime, if I open BlueSky in my iPad's Safari Browser, I see a more full-screen interface.  I'll bet that it will work fine in other browsers too.

BlueSky has Starter Packs.  You can post a link to networks of people with shared interests.  A lot of female sex workers are linking together on Bluesky via Starter Packs.

But it doesn't seem like the male sex workers are doing that just yet.

Any other male FSSW on BlueSky find appropriate Starter Packs on BlueSky?  Add me! @damizzon.bsky.social

Joining in the great gay migration from Twitter (sic) to Bluesky, and it seems to be going well.  But my lady FSSW friends are definitely using the platform for community building in a way that we - their male counterparts - don’t seem to be.  They’re creating ‘starter packs’ - groups of users with similar interests - to network to other FSSW’s and to clients.

Are any of their male counterparts doing the same thing?   Am I just not finding them?  It seems like a potentially valuable tool for connecting.

This may just be a cultural difference between how male and female sex workers connect with each other and with clients.  Curious if anyone has thoughts.

@damizzon.bsky.social if any of you have made the jump.

Aside from not supporting X, is there any other advantage of using it? Is it like X, or are there differences?

I switched and am really enjoying Bluesky. It’s almost exactly like Twitter was in the good days. I only see tweets of people I follow and sequentially. No ads (so far). They also won’t scrape your content for AI or let people you blocked see your tweets. And not supporting that asshole is nice too.

Maybe you could try BlueSky some days before leaving your X 35K+ following behind. In my opinion the advantage of registering on BlueSky today is that you still have a lot of choice in easy usernames.

Are you all saying that Bluesky is as open to porn and adult materials as Twitter/X is? This is an honest question, it would be very disappointing to leave my Twitter 35K+ following behind and move to Bluesky to find out I am censored.

Keep in mind that as of 2024, Twitter (now X) has 586 million monthly active users, while Bluesky has 20 million. Consider your priorities carefully before deciding which platform suits you best.

There is a visible mass migration happening now.  I’m posting adult content and interacting with others who are doing the same.  A lot more actively there for me now than on Twitter.  But surely a lot of that is just the novelty of it.  My plan is to keep my Twitter for a while longer until Bluesky has a few more features and I’m active enough there.

Has anyone found any starter packs for male sex work enthusiasts?

I’m at @damizzon.bsky.social.   Say hi if you’re there!

I haven't noticed anyone who I follow saying a word about moving from Twitter.

It is not a gay migration. It is a Blue migration, or rather a wanna be migration. Not very different to what the other side tried to do before Elon Musk took over Twitter. Truth Social is a failure. Let's see what happens with BlueSky.

I'm sure most guys will keep their account in twitter X also, one thing doesn't exclude the other one.

I am not sure of that. Those who open an account in BSky just to have a new outlet to expand their reach are not "migrating", they are expanding. They will probably keep their Twitter account.

But those who are doing it because of political reasons may not.

My point. They can have an account on Twitter and other accounts anywhere else.

Visible how ?

I follow quite a lot of people on Twitter.

I have two accounts.

One for social + political & cultural interests and another for sexual / social interests. I have yet to see ONE mention of someone migrating.

Perhaps I just make different choices in who to follow...but I cant imagine all the porn stars are Conservatives.

It’s definitely a thing. I’ve started a duplicate on Bluesky of both of my X profiles and am picking up followers who also follow me on X. I intend to keep posting on X and run Bluesky in parallel. It’s more work of course but I have someone do most of that for me on one of my X profiles. He’ll do same for the Bluesky. I started them at this time to avoid someone else getting the name I use on X.

My posts on Bluesky are as explicit as those on X. There is a filter on Bluesky that you need to switch to allow you to see porn but once you do that it’s fine.

It may of course all fizzle out but I just don’t think X is very stable given who owns it now. I’ve no problem with the misinformation and propaganda on there: I’m able to see through that and I don’t engage in any debate on there because the quality of discourse is very low. My main issue with it is that I think it could collapse quickly if the owner loses interest.

Twitter wasn't born in a day, either.  It had to reach a critical mass before becoming a must-have. Founded within Twitter, BlueSky separated in 2021 and has been largely moribund since.  Yes Twitter still has a massive user base, although probably unknowable what that represents, between porn, politics, culture, bots, etc.  Long ago stopped even checking my "clean" Twitter account since most posters of interest to me have decamped to other outlets since the muskrat invasion, if not to BlueSky then Threads, Substack, etc.  The only reason I see to keep that open for now is if somebody I like announces a BlueSky account. Will probably keep my porn account as long as it's fun (I follow 3,748 accounts there, yes I'm a pig), but several of my favorites there have announced the addition of BlueSky to their portfolios, if not a complete transition.

As others have said, you can do both.  Some want to herald a kind of mass exodus for political reasons, I don't think it much matters, but for now the BlueSky environment offers a much more positive experience than the toxic cesspit that Twitter has become.

Maybe 'migration' is inaccurate on a technicality, as you can't visibly tell what people intentions are with their twitter accounts.

But if you join Bluesky on the short term you'll see there's a visible wave of gay men all with accounts under a week old.
