Becket
Anybody had a provider ask for payment via Google Cash App? (The APP is a green $). I had one ask for payment via Cash App not too long ago. Eventually I just paid good ole cash. Now I have learned one of my friends had his entire checking account wiped out by a hacker. The friend has used the Cash App, and it was through his use of this App that his account was stolen. (The bank reimbursed him, but still.......) Wonder if I dodged a bullet? NJF
Cash App is like all other online payment systems and there is always a risk of fraud. There are ways to safeguard your account. marylander1940

Solution rvwnsd Posted September 24, 2023 Solution Share Posted September 24, 2023 A few things: Cash App is not a Google product. It is a product of Block, Inc which was formerly known as Square (now one of Block's divisions). The best place to learn about safeguarding yourself and your funds when using Cash App is their Support page. There you will find a plethora of information. + Pensant, + BenjaminNicholas, MikeBiDude and 2 others 3 1
+ Vegas_Millennial
I have never used a cash app. I stick with good old cash always. Except I'll leave a paper check for my housekeeper. Jamie21
maninsoma
I don't see how using CashApp can cause someone to be able to drain your linked bank account, unless you are very sloppy with your account credentials. I'm not saying this because I'm fond of payment apps (I prefer to pay in cash for escorts or masseurs), but based on what I've read it doesn't sound like someone receiving money from you on an app automatically has the ability to take other money. pubic_assistance, + DrownedBoy, + BenjaminNicholas and 2 others 3

+ DrownedBoy
There are too many ways to hack an account to narrow it down. Most likely your username \password got leaked from a site where you use the same EDIT or similar password. Always use different and hard passwords on any financial account. Jarrod_Uncut
There is no, “charge his account” button on cash app. The only way to wipe any account, is to add cash to your own cash app from your bank account. I try to imply this with clients who use apps or my site. Also: there’s many “text buddy” and “sugar daddy” scammers who contact me by text daily, even multiple times daily. This is another reason I have to regularly remove my phone number from my RentMen ad, and hope clients click my website or send me a messenger which delivers my auto-reply. I recently came up with a clever line in my ad, to further let people know: you can trust me: Meet one of RentMen’s longest 🍌 running advertiser, since 2009! So when someone says something equally clever like: “I’m not going to send money to a stranger”, I’ll know what to do 🚪 ☎️ Edited September 27, 2023 by Jarrod_Uncut
Becket
Interesting that the friendsboy site has a warning on its "contact the provider" page. It says if anyone asks you to pay through an app or cash app you are to report it to the friendsboy management site. Wonder what they know that I don't. Think I really did dodge a bullet as I have not seen that guy's ad anywhere since I contacted him. Need to be more careful I suppose. + Pensant

Friendboy.pro's warning is this: "When call or text him, tell you found his info on Friendboy.pro site! If a guy asks for a gift card or for a cash-app - the best will be to stop communicating with him and to send a note or a comment on Friendboy.pro about a potential scam artist NEVER SEND ANYTHING TO STRANGERS" I don't interpret this warning as having anything to do with payment methods after you've had a session with someone; rather, it's a warning not to send money to someone who asks for it after a mere inquiry about his service. rvwnsd
+ Pensant
Cash only, but Zelle for two very long-term providers. Never an issue. I always found CashApp a bit worrisome for some reason, so I’ve never used it.

I suppose in a way friendboy could be pandering in one of the many interpretations of the word but after they've been compensated for allowing a provider to sell his wares or more importantly for the sake of legalities, his TIME, it seems to me that how a provider is paid is none of friendboys business... bartering and trading , how much, how little and in what shape or form a provider is compensated should be inconsequential and immaterial to friendboy. For whatever it's worth, no pun intended, I've never had an issue with Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, or CashApp Something to note... in my experience, 99.9% ( actually 100% ) of the time, it's not me asking how I'm going to be compensated but rather the conspicuous consumers asking me how I'm wanting to be compensated and which app do I have or use in which case I respond by saying, "which ever is most convenient for you 🙂"
Bokomaru
I simply keep a separate, dedicated account for any cases where I need to directly link an account to an app. That way if it’s ever compromised the damage is mitigated by the relatively low balance that I maintain there. It may be a hassle to have one more account to fund, but you can’t put a price on peace of mind. MikeBiDude
