I haven’t seen an update in a while of Lucky Horseshoe in Chicago, so I thought I would attempt one.

Since Micah took ownership of the bar, he has made quite a few improvements. There are three bars inside with two of them that have stages for dancers.  The third bar is open only on weekends.  The old bathrooms have been updated, and a third one installed in the far back bar.  They have various theme nights, and added new lighting.  Drinks are fairly priced compared to other bars in Chicago.

The dancers have improved greatly in my opinion.  They dance every night except Monday at 8:00 and start at 3:00 on Saturdays and Sundays.  On any given night there are from 12 to 20 dancers in all sizes and shapes, from twink to twunk to bodybuilder.  They are good about not huddling together, but make the rounds of the customers.  During the evening, there are 2 dancers at all times - one on the front stage and one on the back stages.  Both stages are accessible from all sides.

Micah recently bought the bar called @mosphere up in Andersonville in Chicago.  They have dancers as well, but don’t start until the late nights.

I had a barstool there for a few years in the late 2000s to early 2010s before work creeped back up on my time.  Michael my favorite bartender has left again for Florida.  :(

I'd need to start all over.  So many good nights I can barely remember.  Melrose diner for breakfast!  I need to schedule some nights out from my suburban existence.

I’m sure The Shoe will welcome you back with open arms, but alas, the Melrose Diner is no more.  And yes, Michael moving is a big loss!

Are they back to doing good private dances again? Last time I was there (probably in 2018), they would only give "shoulder rubs" on top of client's clothes. Something about new zoning and being near a school that prevented the guys from doing any stripping.

I've been visiting the Lucky Horseshoe every night this weekend while I'm in Chicago.  It is better than ever!  There seem to be more dancers, and better looking dancers, than in my visits in years past.  I've had exceptional lap dances with several of them.  While there is no "private" area for dances, I've had more body contact with some of these dancers during one lap dance song than I've had in private booths after several songs in other cities.  These boys are hot, and they give me the equivalent of 3 dances at other places (in terms of time and body contact) and only charge for 1, so I pay them for 2 and we are both very happy. 😊

Have your visits in past years been over Memorial Day weekend also? As I understand, IML is in Chicago on Memorial Day weekend. I am not diminishing your review, or the Lucky Horseshoe Lounge. I'm just wondering if the influx of gay tourism over the weekend caused them to up their game for the weekend?

My visits on past years have been over Labor Day and in mid-October.  But even on "slow" Thursday night prior to IML weekend, the dancers were more to my liking this year than in years past.

On Saturday evening, I noticed many patrons with leather attire were quick to leave the Lucky Horseshoe after staying for only one or two two songs.  So, while IML may have brought more customers than average through the door, that customer base didn't appear to stay long.

I doubt there is much, if any crossover between IML crowd & strip bars.

At least in Ft Lauderdale - it’s very separate between leather community & Johnsons crowd.  Johnsons seems to go younger or much older. Leather guys typically more middle age. Not all, but most. And the leather guys want real action & they have several venues - they don’t seem interested in a tease in a strip club.

I am one of the crossovers but I agree there aren't a ton. There did used to be more IML parties at bars where there'd be strippers/sex shows (e.g. Pig Daddy with Rocco Steele) but there haven't been as many of those lately.

There are not a ton. At Johnsons, a small number of leather guys might stop in early (like 8 or 9 pm) for a drink or two, and then head out to the leather bars.  I suspect it would be same with Lucky Horsehoe, although I agree with a previous post that there used to be more IML parties at bars with strippers/sex shows during IML weekend when I lived there.  There were a few bars that did specifically advertise for the IML crowd but Lucky Horseshoe did not.

I’ll be in Chicago on Wednesday and thinking about checking out Lucky Horseshoe. Anyone know how busy a Wednesday would be and if there would be a decent amount of dancers? I’m staying near O’Hare so trying to determine if it’s worth the trek.  Thanks in advance!

Since there are two stages, there are usually a minimum of 10 dancers, and since this is Pride Week in Chicago, I would suspect there would be even more.

Went to horseshoe on a weeknight a few weeks ago (late May). It was dead when I got there around 8 but picked up around 10; crowd was a mix of older and younger men. Dancers had great bodies but largely not so great faces.

I got a private dance with one Latino who had a HUGE bulge…. He was great about letting me know when the first song was up, which was much longer than I expected like others have said.

 Will definitely make another trip.

I was there last Wednesday night. It was pretty dead besides the back room for the amateur night/guys in the shower. Vast majority of the contestants were actual dancers who were all Hispanic.

What’s the shower contest entail?

I was there the third week in June on a Tuesday night. Expected it to be very quiet but it was actually fairly busy. Few dozen customers between the two rooms and a bunch of different dancers. Probably 10 or so, which felt like a lot. White, Latino, Black, etc. Every sort from twinky to muscle to masc. Evidently things in the back room for private dances had crossed the line the previous month because the two dancers I was with said they had to be much more careful because people had gotten in trouble. Definitely a good time and drinks were reasonable. I’d be back even if the private room has been reigned in.
