Mint boys…is it worthwhile?

The mintboys profiles are less detailed, and there doesn't seem to be much verification.  I think it occupies much of the niche that was left behind bycraigslist and backpage, a lot of the guys appear to be trying it as a side-hustle.  Escorts can post ads for free, and few are tagged as "premium" in my area.  There's also not a lot of overlap between RM and MB advertisers in my area, which might indicate the site doesn't generate great leads for the more professional providers.

It might vary more in different regions, but I don't think it's a good resource if you're not in the bigger cities.

Oh sweet summer child!

Yes, RM/RMass is effectively a monopoly in the US market.  That's why they've become pricy and inflexible.

After Rentboy was seized by the Feds and SESTA/FOSTA was passed there has not been any sites that have been able to establish themselves sustainably.  They either start off too restrictive and never get advertisers, or they populate themselves with unpaid ads or scrape other sites and make themselves useless for the clients.

Some sites like Romeo and Sleepyboys have better usage in Europe, but never get much traction in US side.  Other regions like South America and Asia have other resources that are more tailored for local conditions than RM.

I’m on MintBoys. A client hired me from there yesterday, for companionship escort services. We hung out (in swimsuits) in the pool at his apartment complex with a mixed crowd of straight people. We had a great conversation and checked out guys together. Had a great time, he loved it. Others have hired me on there before, but very few leads. The ad is free unless you pay for a premium ad placement at the top.

I would try premium, but MintBoys ONLY ACCEPTS BITCOIN as payment for premium placement. They don’t accept fiat currency. No credit cards, nothing. Unless you’re willing to manage bitcoin holdings (I’m not), report your crypto holdings to the IRS (I’m not), and you’re ok with the extreme volatility of bitcoin (I’m not), then you are out of luck. This practically forces people to only put free ads on there. Or be the type of person that uses crypto currencies. I love real money, thank you.

Free ads, by and large, means a lower caliber provider base. If it costs you nothing, you don’t take it very seriously and don’t put much effort into managing or updating it, which leads to many of the guys on there being the more unprofessional types. I confess I don’t spend much time managing mine.

Some of my clients commented that they would never hire off MB because it looks like a bunch of “thugs”. I take this to be coded racist language. While it’s true there are many more black and brown people advertising, they vary in their presentation, profile content, and professionalism. The majority (of any race, white included) tend to present themselves in a way I consider less professional…

….Selfies, flashing a middle finger, blowing smoke into the camera, low quality photos, extremely manipulated or filtered photos, poor writing in the ad, drug references, scowling expressions, stuff like that. Overall they don’t look as good as the providers advertising on RentMen or RentMasseur IMO.

MB has no engagement built in. That’s why ads are old or outdated. Post it and forget it. As a provider, you don’t know metrics of how many views you get, you can’t see who viewed you, there’s no messaging system, no review system, no travel dates system, no other content providers can post like a blog or anything else longer than a short description and a phone number. Compared to RM, it’s like the yellow pages before we had the internet. Yes, I am that old! I’ve also used a Thomas guide more than a few times in my early driving career. I digress…

Before you dismiss MB completely, remember some providers on there are real and active and current. MB is one more way for me to introduce myself. RentMasseur generates many more leads, but if over a year I got even one client spending several hundreds of dollars for one session (and I did just yesterday), it still makes sense for me to advertise there. They’re not all bad.

What about friendboy.pro?   Does anyone have any thoughts on how it compares?

I haven't used that site much.  The ads are relatively sparse in the allowed description and photos.  The search options are also pretty limited, only by city with a hashtag filter.  I can see it being pretty frustrating in a bigger metro.

I am also on Friendboypro. Same story as MintBoys. The design is inherently less interactive and less engaging for many of the same reasons. The one advantage FriendBoy has is that I can flag my availability like I can on RentMasseur, MasseurFinder, and RentMen. So when I toggle availability, I do so across all four platforms. At least on FriendBoy you know I’m logging in and actively doing something because you can see my availability status.

The other big advantage to FriendBoy over RentMen is that it allows me to post my rate as a “Score”. I clarify in my profile that my “Score” ranges from 140-300 depending on services requested. Since I offer massage and escort services I don’t want clients assuming it’s an overpriced massage, or conversely that I only offer escort services based on my “score”.

And what is Hunqz???

I tried Hunqz for a while, hoping to find an alternative or supplement to RM. But nothing but crickets… not much activity there in the US. Too bad since it looks like a decent site overall.

Friendboy.pro, from a client's perspective, is a bare-bones version of Rentmen. I've hired a couple of guys who advertise there. I've also seen crossover between RM and FB.

Curious how it differs from RMen. Insights appreciated :)

I find Mintboys to be full of profiles from guys who haven't worked in a long, long time. They acquired the remains of HourBoy, which wasn't exactly on par with RM, either.

Regarding a lack of competition to Rentmen, years ago there was men4rentnow.com, meetlocalescorts.com, HourBoy, and another whose name escapes me all existed alongside Rentboy. That didn't stop Rentboy from having more ads nor did it give them an incentive to create a better site. RM, et al, serve a niche. Typically, one does not find a ton of competitors for a niche business.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have found a few guys on Mintboys to do video work for the slowteasinghandjob videos. But it's a hit or miss. So many guys don't answer, or if they do some have texted me and said I don't know what your talking about. I don't have a ad on Mintboys. They should charge to place a ad. That would clean up the site. It would remove old ads from years ago and bring a better quality of guys.

I used mintboys twice. Or to be more exact, I contacted 2 guys on it. One never responded. The other was porn actor Tony Romero. I had a great time with him. So i say it's hit or miss.

Tony romero would be a dream...I have tried to contact him to no avail. you are a lucky lucky lass
