Escorts hosting at AirBnB

Tonight I was going to meet up with an escort I’ve had on my radar for a while. He was visiting my city. I never host, so asked which hotel he was staying. He said an apartment - an AirBnB.  
 

I decided to pass because I don’t think I’d feel comfortable in an ABB. Knowing someone owns the apartment and who knows what they have for cameras, etc. that the renters might not know about. Other reasons make me uncomfortable, too. I feel safer in a hotel room. 
 

Anyone else avoid ABBs when an escort is visiting, or am I being irrational?

My first meeting was at an ABB.  Didn't even dawn on me about cameras possibly hidden there.  I think I will stick with hotels.

It's against AirBNB rules to have hidden cameras in the apartment and all recording devices must be properly documented to guests before arriving. 

In many states, it's also illegal to record someone where they would have a reasonable expectation of privacy.

Certainly many apartments probably have Ring cameras and other outside surveillance and definitely the owner of an apartment could probably record you entering or exiting the apartment. But filming inside the apartment would very likely violate AirBnB rules and may be illegal.

Hotels almost certainly record whoever enters and exits their building as well. I'm not really sure that I buy that one is inherently more risky privacy-wise than the other.

Pretty sure all the drugs I took in college were "illegal" too. Doesn't stop people from doing it.

But if the worry is that your privacy is going to be violated by an AirBnB host:

A) Probably they aren't videotaping you.

B) If they were, what are they going to possibly do with the footage? If they try to like get you in trouble for prostitution or whatever, then they are also very likely committing an illegal act. If they are going to post it online, you would have a very easy lawsuit that your privacy has been violated. If they are just going to privately jack off to it, then you would neither know about it nor care.

And that "very easy lawsuit" would entail further publicity of the activity you didn't wanr exposed....so...

And the creepy peeping tom AirBnB host doesn't want their illegal "hobby" exposed either. So it doesn't even get to the courts, it just gets taken down.

I avoid BnB for the most part. Too many horror stories, including news reports of people finding hidden cameras during their stay. I usually only do them if I'm on vacation with a group of friends and we book a villa or cottage. 

Hotels are always best in my opinion.

Do you really think anyone cares enough to bother doing anything with a tape ? You could be running for president, have all sorts of tapes exposed and still win. I prefer to stay in hotels for the convenience but the rignt guy in an AirBnB works for a me just as well.

Of all the bad things that can happen with a new provider in a new place, I think being video-taped by a third party is one of the least likely.

I also don't think this is a major concern.  Let's assume the Airbnb host does have hidden cameras in the apartment.  The footage is likely only going to be viewed if they encounter a problem with that renter.  In other words, something gets stolen or damaged, or there are complaints from neighbors about excessive noise during that renter's stay.  I seriously doubt most hosts who would choose to hide a camera are doing so hoping just to get some j/o material.  I live in a large condo building and there are cameras in various locations in the common areas; the footage only gets reviewed when there is a problem (theft or vandalism).

Thanks everyone for your response. My big concern about cameras / privacy is that it’s a local ABB , and there’s always that slight possibility the owner may know me. For me, that would be mortifying. I don’t mind cameras in a hotel - in fact I prefer them - since they’re for security. Especially meeting a new provider.

Life is full of risks. The likelihood of being videotaped in an Airbnb is pretty low. Who would be bothered sitting thru hours of mundane footage anyway?

I completely and totally agree with John above that worrying about being videotaped by a third party in either a hotel or an AirBNB is so slim to be not worthy of too much consideration!

And AirBnB has the right to prohibit video recording if you're using their web site to advertise your space. And AirBnb does prohibit undisclosed ones generally and:

• Airbnb prohibits security cameras or recording devices that are in or that observe private spaces like bedrooms, bathrooms, or sleeping areas

So you may have the right in your private home but that doesn't mean you can host with AirBnb

Many years ago I stayed in a hotel in Japan that had a wall unit with a mirror. I could see that there was a small hole in the mirror that looked different and I was convinced that there was a camera behind it so I put a post it note over it. Later I realized that the TV remote stopped working. I realized that it was just the sensor for the remote.

In strange places it’s easy to get paranoid
