I'd volunteer as doorman, photographer, fluffer - whatever is needed!

TonyDown Posted December 25, 2024 Posted December 25, 2024 The jackpot is $1 billion. Cash value after taxes is around $337,000,000 where I live. I would call someone with a nice smile, smooth hands, and a good kisser. A body like this with no tattoos would be perfect. 56harrisond Posted December 25, 2024 Posted December 25, 2024 Mega Millions jackpot soars to an estimated $1.15 billion for holiday drawing (CNN) - This holiday season, a lucky Mega Millions player might receive a $1.15 billion belated Christmas gift. With no one winning the jackpot on Christmas Eve, Friday’s grand prize hit an estimated $1.15 billion – the largest prize ever offered in the month of December. That’s a $516.1 million cash prize. If a ticket wins the grand prize, it would be just the seventh time in the game’s history that the jackpot has soared past $1 billion, the lottery said. The six won to date were awarded in South Carolina in 2018, Michigan in 2021, Illinois in 2022, Maine and Florida in 2023 and New Jersey last March. The Florida prize is the game’s record jackpot at $1.602 billion. Tuesday’s winning numbers were: 11, 14, 38, 45, 46 and Mega Ball 3. Although no tickets matched all six numbers in Tuesday night’s drawing, four tickets still won $1 million each by matching the first five numbers. Those tickets were sold in California, Missouri, Wyoming and Pennsylvania, according to the Mega Millions website.

That's crazy when that happens. They either lost the ticket or looked at the numbers from a different day or different game. There was a lady in NY she claimed a million dollar prize in the final week possible when she saw on the news someone had a ticket about to expire and she said she checked all her old tickets and found she won. Like what the heck! + ApexNomad 1
+ Pensant Posted January 4 Posted January 4 I’d set up a charitable foundation. I have several causes in mind. But the two states where I live require full winner disclosure, which would be a nightmare. It would be great if the pot was claimed by an LLC, which a few states permit.

CuriousByNature Posted August 28 Posted August 28 I'm wondering if anyone knows why the lump sum payment is reduced by so much? Our national lottery up here in Canada maxes out at $80M, but the full amount gets paid to the winner. We aren't taxed on lottery winnings either, but that's a separate matter.

Annuity: The advertised jackpot amount is the total of 30 annual payments that increase by 5% each year. This is the amount the lottery would need to invest to fund your future payouts. Lump sum: The one-time cash value is the amount of cash on hand that the lottery has available to pay the winner today. This is typically 40% to 50% of the total advertised jackpot. + sync, MikeBiDude and CuriousByNature 2 1
+ m_writer Posted August 30 Posted August 30 This is going to be a set of stupid questions, but I'm not too familiar with the lottery because I don't play that much (for background, I live in California): 1. Even if I win a scratch it ticket prize of $7.00, does the state still record how much money people win, regardless on how tiny and little money the prize is? 2. I understand why news won't report someone winning $100K (which to me is still a lot of money), but if you win an amount under 1 million, can you choose to do the payment plan of 30 years? Or for smaller amounts, they won't offer that and would rather give it to you all in one lump sum after taxes?

+ azdr0710 Posted September 3 Posted September 3 I buy a lottery ticket about once a year, usually at times like this. I know it's a tax on fools and all that, but may be worth the suspense. I bought ten quick picks for $20. The last couple times were complete busts, so either third time is the charm or third time and I've learned my lesson.
