Loss of libido

good topic, as many of us are of that certain age!  I have wondered at what time desire fades; in fact, I had this conversation with the young man I am currently seeing; I find that on the weekends, libido is high; when I go to the office, it seems to wane!

Loss or slowing down of libido can result from many factors - it’s not strictly an age thing. Stress, other health conditions, medications, lifestyle choices, diet, emotional/mental health issues, et al.

Just like there’s really no one cause, there’s also no one cure. For some, cialis/viagra/etc. do the trick, others use OTC supplements successfully, some require diet and/or lifestyle changes, and for others a medical plan with their doctor is needed.

There are a number of doctors on this forum who can provide far more informative replies, on causes, treatments, etc.. You may want to run a search on here for libido, or ED, and have a read thru for some further information.

My libido has definitely waned.

I attribute it to several factors:

  • my age
  • the provider environment, from my perspective, has become much more intense with upselling and misrepresentations along with last-minute cancellations or no-shows, and skyrocketing price points
  • the pandemic and other transmissibles
  • my resistance to tattoos and piercings, which seem to be everywhere
  • travel time to/from appointments

In my case the old "if you don't use it, you lose it" seems to apply.

I'm quite content with my memories and fantasies for the present.

The funds I'm saving also helps.  🙂

I spent two years during the pandemic keeping my dick at home with my wife. We married as best friends so our sex life has never been *Energizer Bunny* just pleasant and comfortable.  Didn't touch any male playmates throughout....so frequency was down. ( We've been married for 15 years )...so ....

But. Now I am less concerned about health issues / everyone is vaccinated + boosted and the boyz are getting themselves vaxxed for the monkey pox, I am back in the saddle and more sexually active. I don't see any difference in my libido.

Good on you, but take care of yourself.  Even many of the vaccinated and boosted are becoming/have become infected and, consequently, also carriers.

I couldn't agree with your points more.

And well stated!

Thanks to those who have posted on this thread. I appreciate the thoughts shared thus far. I am also eager to hear others’ replies to this question from the original post:

Do you try to counteract the loss and regain your libido, or do you occupy your time with other pursuits?”

WHY would you lament the loss of libido ?

To me ..my libido seems a curse.

I am horny 24/7 which distracts me way too much from work and in my ( limited) free time.

I'd probably enjoy life a bit more, if I wasn't trying to line up play dates all the time.

@pubic_assistance  As monkey pox becomes a greater menace, I increasingly find myself appreciating the question you posed. I’m lamenting the loss of libido less and less.

I would suggest you do not simply occupy yourself with other pursuits, but instead endeavor to counteract the loss.    I've met many men who've lost years of sex after allowing a loss of libido to overwhelm them.  That's sad.

"Fake it till you make it" could put you back on track, in other words focus on the memory of excitement while doing something that used to excite you, and you may be surprised to find out, you're excited!

Sex rocks, don't give up on it.

I am taking medication to alleviate high blood pressure which, I think, has influenced my libido and caused erectile problems.  On top of that, monkey pox is a concern right now because I have not yet been able to get the vaccine.  I am not hiring until I do.

In terms of other pursuits - I have been watching more porn.  Also, I have gotten friendly with a few mega-hot live cam performers out of Colombia.  But it is not the same thing,

Weightlifting for an hour at the gym still makes me incredibly horny....

Well, I assumed it was due to all of the buffed up dudes and pheromones stimulating my gonads....

@BaronArtz: I’ve never tried the live cam performers. I might check them out; a new experience like that might titillate my libido, especially as I—like you—hold off on hiring while until I can get the monkeypox vaccine.

Any particular live cam sites you’d recommend?

I use www.rmlivecams.com for which a link is provided on the main page of rentmen.com.

This webpage is a feeder into flirt4free.com

I do like the Colombian guys a lot - great bodies and a playful attitude.

Unfortunately, the models don't make all that much money off it - the owners of the webpage and the local studios some work for get the lion's share.  But that is a different discussion.

Regrettably far too many disfigured by hideous tattoos. I find them a total passion killer.
