Is hiring in Latin America actually cheaper?

Travel to South America, bringing your US understanding of sexual identities and looking for the same (dying even in the US) ghetto gays. You will be disappointed and disoriented.

I'm sorry to hear that I would be disappointed traveling to South America.  I had planned to visit Brazil and Argentina in 2021, but the pandemic from the virus from China cancelled my travel travel plans.

It's still on my bucket list for the near future.

Seriously, I don't want to sound cocky, but in NYC I feel bombarded by dudes at times and not in a very positive way. Too much promiscuity in this city. A lot of the gays here are too obvious when they are horny and shit and 98% of the times I'm not even attracted to them, ew. This is why I stopped going to a gym in HK. They would often follow me to the bathroom and stuff.  Just freaking no. OBNOXIOUS.

I doubt that, but that's just me. But I did live in New York for a few years and never saw anyone pursued like you describe.

Please elaborate better.

Also not sure what you meant by "ghetto gays".

I usually associate gays from the ghetto as bitchy and loud. But that's an stereotype many people hold about gays in general regardless of class imo.  Umm okay...

Sorry for my bad English. I meant to say "gay ghettos."

There is not much to elaborate on. Even when globalization leaves a mark, sexuality in South America is more fluid than in the US.

Or maybe I just happen to attract a lot of weirdos getting the wrong message? I don't know man. It's obnoxious.

if this is real (which is extremely doubtful in nyc), then yes…..it’s you causing the situation
aggressive repetitive cruising as described doesn’t just happen

if you really want it to stop vs being a topic to complain, perhaps wise to examine your own behavior.  Or not

He didn't say you'd be disappointed in general, he said that if you relied on your US expectations and assumptions about what sexuality looked like you might not find what you want. In Latin American there will be different cultural cues and the ones that work for you in the US may not work there. Any disappointment would be that you can't find what you want, not that it isn't there.

Over the years, I have been to Brazil and other places in South America more than one hundred times and I do not know what a Ghetto gay is.

Even though the quality of providers that are available in most Brazilian saunas and elsewhere is a lot lower than it was just a few years ago, there still are some good looking providers available.

Remember, due to various reasons (coronavirus and monkey pox, etc), many gay meeting places went out of business.

In consideration of the fact that you do not know nor experienced that era or time when there were many providers and places where superb providers could be found, you have no personal comparison with what is available now.

Anything you experience will be new and will likely be pleasant because you did not experience the way things were before the unpleasant changes.

Like A. E. Housman once wrote, "All things may end, for all began; "

And, yes, hiring in Latin America is definitely cheaper than hiring in most other areas of the world.

I can't wait to sample the local talent in Brazil.

That said, I actually have not hired anyone who isn't Brazilian in I don't know how long!

EDIT: I'm British, and here in the UK the gay escort market is dominated by Brazilians.

After my first sojourn to Brazil in 2002, I fell in love with those hard, hot n hung Brazilian men.  From then onward, I'd make a yearly trip until 2012.  I've hooked up occasionally with "my Brazilian men/escorts in San Francisco and in Los Angeles, and if all goes as planned, I hope to return to Brasil in 2024.

The requested fees have definitely been much lower than those asked for in the States, Europe, and in Australia.

And in terms of the requested fee, I've always complied, for I note the exchange rate prior to my traveling and have an idea what R$150 or R$200 is as compared to U.S. dollars.

The guys have to live, and to me their requested fees have NOT been exploitive.

I just came back from Brazil and this place is Sao Paulo was a buffet: http://www.espacolagoasauna.com.br/

They even had sizeable private rooms there. The guys were charging like $30 an hour.

I met this guy in Rio and he charged about $50 an hour: https://garotocomlocal.com.br/acompanhante-masculino/brunao-baiano/

The guy in Rio looks amazing!!! 😍 question about the saunas and bath houses though…. How do you know who is “working” and who is just there to hang out? I’m planning a trip and I’d love to visit a few but I wouldn’t want to assume.

If you’re referring to the saunas in Rio with pay boys, you will almost never have a problem telling the difference between a working guy (“garoto de programa” or the more familiar “boy”)  and a client. First of all, at saunas with garotos, there will almost never be a working guy there who isn’t there to make money, unless he is there exclusively to see one client — and in that case, you’ll either approach him alone and he’ll tell you he’s there for another client only, or you will already see him with that client (in that case, never approach when he is with the client — this is completely disrespectful to the client and could cause you a world of embarrassment… or even hurt).

If you’re asking how to physically tell the difference between garotos and clients at saunas, this will never be a problem 99% of the time. In spite of what may be claimed here by some, very few clients except for the unicorns look like they could be garotos de programa in Rio de Janeiro or São Paulo. In 15 years of regular visits, I’ve personally only seen maybe 4-5 clients at the most who in person would be or were mistaken for sauna garotos in real life and in real time.

Very few non-GP saunas in Rio or São Paulo even allow working guys there, so it’s safe to assume no one at those saunas wants to be paid for a sexual encounter (unless they disclose this to you upfront). They are closer in operation to a bathhouse in the USA.

Fantastic information, thank you very much! One more question - how is the popper situation in San Paolo or Rio?…. Brazilian guys are known for their endowment and it just makes things more pleasurable for me. Is this strictly a no no?

Poppers, or amyl nitrite, are categorized as a controlled substance in Brazil, and are illegal to transport, import, possess, buy or sell without a prescription. It’s possible that you could be busted at Brazilian customs at the airport if a bottle is found in your luggage, but the risk you want to take is up to you. There are also sellers on Grindr but reportedly the quality / purity / veracity is very unreliable. Again, AYOR.

Last year, there was a well-publicized case of a Brazilian man who ordered poppers from an Amazon / eBay-type website and was arrested by Brazilian Federal Police upon their delivery. The charge was 3 to 5 years in prison, but I’m not sure of that case’s outcome.

Interesting observation, funny you bring this up!

Yeah. There are only a few of them … like you can count them on one hand — but that handful of clients that are handsome enough to get mistaken as a garoto by both the other clients and the guys who sell their wares at the saunas… they are quite popular and always get the rock star treatment at the saunas!

Being here in Brazil a lot from the bar chatter and personal observations, I know of a few. One I know is a buff Russian businessman. Another is a biracial American retired Hollywood exec. I see them here often. They both own vacation properties in Rio. They are regular / semi-regular clients, both look like they could have worked at 117, 202 and Lagoa back in the time when they were of that age.

Sure, there are the clients who post here and seem to be quite popular here on these message boards, maybe due to their history and storytelling, but in real life at the saunas, I haven’t really seen any clients with that kind of magnetism in the saunas with garotos de programa — except for the few I just mentioned. And I’m making these observations over lots of time coming to Brazil, as a regular-looking American schlub who’s pushing 60, and who has always a thing for hot-looking men.

Of course, money always helps… 🤣

So… handsome, rich and charming guys always go to the front of the line. A reflection of how things work in the outside world, I suppose! 🤣
