Another tangent, a lot of words have radically different meanings in certain contexts and among certain groups of people, and not just about sex. The word 'deadly' in English usage among Aboriginal Australians means excellent or very good. There are even Deadlys, a set of awards in the indigenous community.

Just as “sick” can mean cool or awesome.

morboso is more like piggy

Native Spanish speaker here: you are right, @savantsav. Particularly in a sexual context, I understand MORBOSO as piggy, interested in dirty, kinky, or forbidden things. Certainly not as MORBID, which, like somebody pointed out, would be MÓRBIDO.

That's why my jaw drops when I hear simultaneous translators in action. I remember hearing the two feeds of a Spanish speaker and the UN translator and marveling at how the translation was bullseye perfect, every word, every nuance. OK, I know they go to school for 6 years for oral translation, but still ... if I studied for decades, I could never master it. To me, it'd be like studying to walk on water. After 6 years of study, practice & training, I'd still sink like a rock.

I do have experience in simultaneous interpretation (Spanish to English or vice-versa), and I don’t find it too difficult. It takes practice, but once you get the hang of it, it just comes almost naturally. My “secret” is to not overthink, but just go with the flow. I find consecutive interpretation -that is when you take notes, wait for the speaker to finish and then translate- a lot more complex. ??‍♂️

Although I used to be quite fluent in German, I could never do simultaneous translation. Now I have trouble trying to say what I want to say in English. First it was retrieving the nouns that became a problem, then the adjectives. They say that the conjunctions and articles are the last to go. I can no longer give a speech without writing it out first and practicing it over and over.

I agree with you completely Liubit regarding consecutive interpretation. My friend, who did simultaneous translation, did NOT like doing consecutive interpretation. She was accomplished at doing it BUT did not like or enjoy doing it. My problem with simultaneous translation is that I am totally incapable of thinking in both languages at the same time. I am perfectly comfortable thinking and speaking in English and thinking and speaking in Spanish but I am at a total loss when attempting to do both.

Wow! This post took time, then? :)

This guy's profile says, "I am an attractive Colombian bisexual guy, educated but very morbid, I seek to make all your fantasies come true..." He is good looking, though I am not sure I am into morbid fantasies. But could be interesting for those into necrophilia or similar fetishes, maybe?

morbo or morboso means sick in the sense of kinky and wet, raw sex. Yo soy muy morbo

Thanks so much guys...definitely helpful in trying to figure out this guy's ad. I was almost considering setting something up for this weekend, but Denver's about to get a huge blizzard so I guess not. Haha. Like I said before though, probably for the best considering he appears to be into PNP. Wonder if he realizes he probably will not be leaving on March 13th after all.

@keroscenefire

Would you consider updating the name of the thread to "lost in translation" or simply his screen name?

just a suggestion, besides someone by NOW should have texted and tell him the true meaning of "morbid" in English.

I would if I had an account on RM but I deleted it after 2 negative reviews I submitted where removed.

Changed it. Interestingly, he was supposed to be in Denver through the weekend but is now in Peoria, Illinois of all places. I think traveling escorts in Denver are trying to flee the city before our expected blizzard this weekend.
