I like the smell of the morning

I like the first sip of coffee

Me gusta el primer traguito de café

Feel when the sun peeks out my window

And it fills my gaze, with a beautiful sunrise

I like to hear the peace of the mountains

Look at the sunset colors

Mirar los colores del atardecer

Feel my feet the sand of the beach

And the sweetness of the cane when I kiss my wife

I know, I know that time is in a hurry

Sé, sé que el tiempo lleva prisa

To erase myself from the list

Pa' borrarme de la lista,

But I tell him that

Pero yo le digo que

Oh, how beautiful is this life

Ay, qué bonita es esta vida

And although sometimes it hurts so much

Y aunque a veces duela tanto

And despite the regrets

Y a pesar de los pesares

There is always someone who loves us

Siempre hay alguien que nos quiere

There is always someone who takes care of us

Siempre hay alguien que nos cuida

Ay, ay, ay, ay

Ay, ay, ay, ay

How beautiful is this life

Qué bonita es esta vida

And even if it's not forever

Y aunque no sea para siempre

If I live it with my people

Si la vivo con mi gente

She's pretty to death

Es bonita hasta la muerte

With songs and tequila

Con canciones y tequila

I like to hear the voice of a guitar

Toast to that friend who left

Brindar por aquel amigo que se fue

Feel the embrace of the dawn

Sentir el abrazo de la madrugada

And fill my gaze with another beautiful sunrise

I like to hear the peace of the mountains

Look at the sunset colors

Mirar los colores del atardecer

Feel the sand of the beach on my feet

And the sweetness of the cane when I kiss my wife

I know, I know that time is in a hurry

Sé, sé que el tiempo lleva prisa

To erase myself from the list

Pa' borrarme de la lista

But I tell him that

Pero yo le digo que

Oh, how beautiful is this life

Ay, qué bonita es esta vida

And although sometimes it hurts so much

Y aunque a veces duela tanto

And despite the regrets

Y a pesar de los pesares

There is always someone who loves us

Siempre hay alguien que nos quiere

There is always someone who takes care of us

Siempre hay alguien que nos cuida

Ay, ay, ay, ay,

Ay, ay, ay, ay,

How beautiful is this life

Qué bonita es esta vida

And even if it's not forever

Y aunque no sea para siempre

If I live it with my people

Si la vivo con mi gente

She's pretty to death

Es bonita hasta la muerte

With songs and tequila

Con canciones y tequila

Ay, ay, ay, ay

Ay, ay, ay, ay

How beautiful is this life

Qué bonita es esta vida

How beautiful is this life

Qué bonita es esta vida

How beautiful is this life and that singer. I want to rip his clothes off and ravage him!! ?

Moncayo's Huapango........and that conductor is a stunner!

as usual, full volume!.....might need to click on the "watch on Youtube" line

I enjoyed that video very much. I agree the conductor is a stunner...as are two of the trombonists and one of cellists. (Sometimes I amaze even myself with my lack of focus.)

It's nothing official, but today is widely known in Australia as 'Gravy Day' It comes from a 1990s song by Paul Kelly. The words of the song set it on 21 December. The song is a letter a prisoner is writing to his family about missing them for Christmas, and talks of quirks of their normal family Christmas gatherings, and lamenting the separation. A couple of days ago the Economist published an article noting that the sentiments in the song resonate with the sorts of separations that families will be facing this year.

In a quirk, the federal government today announced the appointment of a new Chief Health Officer. His name? Professor Paul Kelly.

Anyway, happy gravy day.
