I jokingly made myself a sash and when I put it one, I realized I had never worn one before. Any guys here experienced in the world of sash wearing.

Did you mean a sash in the sense of cummerbund? Or as a Miss America contestant?

Miss America. Mr Monopoly Winning Second Place in a Beauty Contest type sash

And very dashing I'm sure you looked. There is something about a cummerbund, though, silk, with a trail at one side and a dagger at the other....

Not as such, although cummerbunds and the like. In tribute to Mr Astaire, I have occasionally used a necktie as a belt on trousers, which feels somewhat sash-like. (Still not clear what you mean by 'sash', I admit.)

I forgot about Boy Scouts. I went through Cub Scouts and Webelos (the "junior high" of scouting), but just lasted one night in actual Boy Scouts. Did Cub Scouts have a sash for badges? Did they HAVE badges? It's been a long time. I remember wearing a too-small cub scout uniform at the end, I was close to graduating/ageing up to Webelos and we didn't want to spend the money on a new uniform that fit but I'd only wear for a couple months.

I went through Cub Scouts and quit the night I became a Boy Scout. You did get badges in Cub Scouts but no sash.

Surprised thought most guys did boy scouts.

As a gay atheist, I never felt I'd be welcomed in the scouts.

I am both, but at Cub Scout age, in the late 60's, I wasn't aware that I was either yet. I actually realized atheist first, I think. My Dad stopped going to church when I was about 11, I stopped a year or two later and Dad's not going undermined Mom's urging me to go.
