Could be that he advertises all the time? My adverts are up all the time, whether or not I’m working. I was away in Greece and in France earlier this year so wasn’t available for weeks but the adverts stayed up. I just told clients who enquired that I wasn’t available until after I was back. 

If you keep activating and deactivating your advert on some sites it lowers the prominence on the site. Also it’s just simpler to advertise 24/7 and decline requests for times you’re unavailable. In my situation clients can book weeks ahead (example if they’re visiting London and want to make sure I’m available when they’re here).

If he’s used Covid as an excuse to not see you that’s bad. Worse if he has Covid and is still working! But I’d be careful before concluding that it was either of those. It could just be he left the ad running…
