Pierros is sadly closed, but there's a slew of new places to dance: Jackie Os, Babylon. If you're in town during August, look to see if you can hit the XLSIOR dance festival. It brings in a huge number of guys from all over the world.

Elia and Super Paradise are both gay beaches: Don't be surprised to see some of the most beautiful men you've ever seen, as well as the occasional drag queen giving an impromptu performance on the sand. It's an odd dichotomy, but fascinating.

Hotels are a little tougher, as there are a ton of small, family-run hotels (10-15 rooms) that are well located and less expensive than the big guys. I have used Airbnb and HomeAway a ton of times on the island and it's worked great.

Thank you Benjamin. One question. What is in your opinion the best area to stay in? I have never been there, but some of the hotels are in what I assume in the town area while others are a little further out in certain beach areas. How do you get around the island? I don’t drive and I not taking up bike riding. Are taxi cabs readily available?

Taxis are easy and the bus will take you to the beaches (It's an easily caught, open-air local bus).

To some beaches, you also need to take a water taxi... It's a lot of fun and a beautiful way on and off the sand.

Take a look at the Elyseum Hotel. I stayed there once and it was great. Gay owned/operated. Fantastic location.

What has been the experience of people engaging escorts in peak season in Mykonos through Rentmen etc? This is planning for the future and not the bizarre and extraordinary times which we are currently enduring. Comments most welcome.

Sydney is currently in lockdown so all you can do is plan and/or dream about overseas travel. On the subject of Mykonos I have done some research which suggests September/October is a good time to visit. Do others agree? It is apparently still warm, less expensive and you avoid the crowds of peak season.

Also has anyone stayed at Bill and Coos Suites and Lounge? Looks ideal albeit at a price.

Weather should be good then @sydneyboy. It will be less crowded but I very much doubt that it’ll be less expensive.

For me, Mykonos lost its allure when it morphed from a resort with Greek families that welcomed gay visitors to a global party-hotspot. Prices now often far exceed those in the South of France.

Sorry I can’t help with any info about ‘Bill and Coos’

I believe it was super paradise that I experienced my first mid-day beach drag show.  That was a trip.

Mykonos is a magical place.

Mykonos was a very "magical place' for me.  I enjoyed Super Paradise's beauty, its initial ambiance, and the two Italian men I met.  Because I had failed to make arrangements for lodging-- I stayed on the beach outside of the small tent of these two.  I can't remember if they furnished a blanket for me, or from where I obtained it.

That trip to many parts of Europe during my first trip abroad will always linger in my memory.

It’s not my favorite Greek Isle. In fact, it wouldn’t even make my top 10.
It’s cute, not stunning, crazy expensive, and overrun with pretentious Eurotrash.
I was never into the “beach as gay disco", so Mykonos was never really my scene.
No other Greek isle is nearly as "gay". But then again it’s Greece, none of it is really "straight".

@nycman

Our next trip will be island hopping in Greece and hoping to hit one or 2 "off the beaten path".

Any/all recommendations welcome, thanks Jack

Symi for some colour and Milos for white volcanic rocks. Both busy, but not as busy as Mykonos or Santorini.

Sorry, somehow I missed this.

Since we’re going "off the beaten path", I will skip the obvious “Santorini is amazing" answer.
As much as I hate the tourists on Mykonos, somehow on Santorini I can tolerate them.
It’s stunning. Sunsets and Moonrises over the caldera are memories of a lifetime.
My snob, elitist, recluse self hates to admit it…..but I love this island.

Corfu - not too far into the woods. Big beautiful island that is often overlooked.
Many Greek islands are mini-deserts. Corfu is quite lush. Lots to do and see.
A little "away from" the other isles so may not be easy to work into your trip.

Samos (and Naxos, and Paros, and Lesbos). All very interchangeable. No real need
to visit every one unless you’ve got Greek Isle Pokémon fever (got to collect them all).
Samos is my favorite, but I wouldn’t turn down a trip to any of them. I believe Naxos
is the largest if you’re a size queen.

Kos - if archeology is more important to you than pristine beaches, Kos has a lot to offer.
Especially of the medical kind. It is after all the home of Hippocrates. Nonetheless,
like most of Greek isles all the “real" finds were carted away to Athens and further cities
centuries ago, so don’t expect much.

Ios - kind of a "Mykonos for beginners". More nightlife than most of the islands, but not the
full on insanity of Mykonos. I always think of it as "what Mykonos was like 20 years ago".

Islands I’ve never visited but would love to check out: Crete, Hydra, Kefalonia, Delos

So none of these are that far off the beaten path. You learn fast that the Greek isles
get very rural and very difficult to get on and off very quickly as you explore further
away from the maddening crowds. My favorite summers have been spent wondering
from island to island via ferry with no real plan or agenda. If you can free your soul
that much, it’s an amazing time. However, it’s easy to get stuck on a podunk island
with nothing to do and the next ferry is "in a week…..maybe…sometimes she no come".

Have fun, relax, and explore.

I’m going to Mykonos in September. It’s less windy. Still expensive, still very warm and still very gay. Great place but there are better Greek islands I think. It depends what you want. I’m just looking for nudity, sun and yes possibly some cock. But it’s definitely a holiday so I’ll mainly be relaxing with a good book!

Just a cautionary note but last week, Greek police officers were busy enforcing the pandemic regulations. Be aware that Greek police officers often operate in ‘plain clothes’.

We were always masked when entering a taverna, so we were untroubled. We did, however, meet 3 people who forgot this rule: they were caught by the police and had to pay an on-the-spot fine of €300 each.
