In my early 20's I lent money to a close friend; approx $500. She stated she'd pay me on a specific date. That day came and went. Almost a year later I was repaid. It certainly fractured our friendship. Not b/c of the money, it was the... I promise I'll pay you on this date, then nothing.
This was the only time I lent someone money. Made it easier to say no.  Years later she asked to borrow money. I replied, I learned long ago not to lend money....

Let's take a generic mens spa. You get a great massage, and then the masseur works hard so you will leave happy. In his experience, that hard work is rarely rewarded with a good tip. People can be cheap. So he inquires what they want and tries to get them to tip appropriately. I see nothing wrong with that. He is not really upselling, he is just finding out how hard he should work. All hypothetical of course.

I'd like to offer this.... leave this in the past, look forward. I've spent many days/hours going over an unfavorable situation.  Got me no where other than deminishing my self esteem. It sucks that kind of person exists but that's on  him.

I am going to try to book with him this week.  So far he is very responsive and seems like a nice guy and legit. 

Ive had a client request a happy beginning because he said he was too disctracted to relax and did his request. Afterwards we still fiished with a happy ending as well. No complaints on my end ha. If its something you want just request it with your provider beforhand

IMHO 40-60% at a massage parlor is horrible.  I say minimum 100% for average service and up as the service is better.
