So sad to hear this - I only knew him from the few PS gatherings I was able to attend, but I chatted with him each time.  I will miss seeing his Dying Gaul avatar as I was always interested in what he had to say even if the comment was "curmudgeonly".  He was full of information and certainly had an eye for pointing out new talent.

This is truly an incredible loss to this community. I remember meeting Epigonos at the PS event two years ago and he was such an incredibly funny, generous and kind man. I probably ended up talking to him more than anyone at the events. I specifically remember him sitting next to me at the dinner when I was at a table by myself. What a loss.
Let's keep his memory alive here in this community. 

I'm stunned, grieved and in the same place with you, Oliver. Through this forum, Epigonos became one of my best friends ever in this life. Not just the PS events. He regularly invited me to stay at his home; shared countless meals, took vacations together. We were planning another 10 day trip in the spring. We were always calling each other talking about life inside and outside of the hobby. I can hear his laugh right now, along with peppering me with a bazillion questions about everything. But what I especially loved about our phone calls is, when the call was over, it was over, time to hang up and move along with the day. I could always count on him to get to the point!
Despite the gruff, funny persona PS attendees got to know, Epigonos was a loving and generous man. I experienced it and saw it in so many private interactions, involving his family, friends, and neighbors. Epigonos was completely satisfied with his life, and I assure you he had no regrets about his major life decisions. He lived, and he died in full satisfaction with who he was, who he loved, and how he lived. To him, I say, "well done, my friend"!
I will miss him for the rest of my life, and hope that my life decisions will leave me just as satisfied when my departure date arrives. I will have a good cry today, and will raise a glass and toast him tomorrow. He would have it no other way.

It is with a very heavy heart that I must tell you that my very dear friend, Epigonos, is no longer with us.  I was informed this evening by a close friend that it occured apparently last night in his sleep.  Ironically yesterday was his birthday.

I went in 2021 and had a great time! It was my first time in Palm Springs and I treated it as a long weekend vacation from cold NYC. During the day some folks went for a hike or just stayed in their resorts. There's the Saturday night dinner and then Oliver's pool party. Lots of food and booze. When I went, I felt half the attendees were escorts and the other half were "us old farts" hehe jk (ok maybe it was 40/60 split). Actually, the feds have done quite well.  The US and Canada were the only countries to have Jynneos vaccines ready at the beginning of this year, because these two countries placed an order for Jynneos vaccines back in 2020, which were being stored at the manufacturer in Europe.  When the Monkey Pox outbreaks started to occurr in Europe and Canada, the US and Canada were the only countries with vaccines ready. But, the vaccines needed to be shipped from the manufacturer in Europe.  The US chose to release a portion of its order to European countries who were experiencing much larger outbreaks than the US was, and wait for the rest of its order to be shipped a little later as the manufacturer ramped up production to fulfill Europe's orders which would be sent to the US in return due the US giving up some of its early supply.  The US and Canada were still the first two countries to receive the vaccines because they were more prepared than the rest of the world.
To keep this discussion from trending political...I am thankful that the "feds" and Canada were forward thinking back in 2020 on the Jynneos vaccine, regardless of who was in charge then or now.  I plan on getting my 2nd dose in two weeks!  1st and 2nd doses are available for walk-ins in Las Vegas, no identification required, to both men and women.

I also enjoy going to Morgan Library! I used to love going to the Morgan Dining room restaurant for dinner, where they served early 20th century cuisine (or inspired by it!)

I've never seen a tip jar at a private party in someone's home. When I've hosted a small party, there's no tip jar but I do give a tip the bartender at the end of the evening.
