  1. When it happened to me, I jumped up from the table. Wasn't meaning to be dramatic, I was just startled. They comped both my and my friend's dinners, which I thought was overly generous. Kevin Slater

  5. Better still: Fidelity® ZERO Large Cap Index Fund (FNILX), literally zero fee. (Doesn't call itself S&P500 cuz it doesn't pay to license the name.) Kevin Slater
  6. Beware fees on target-date ETFs. They can often be excessive. Kevin Slater
  7. Yup, that or a random hole pic. Kevin Slater
  8. Worked with him a few times. He's great. Kevin Slater
  9. I’ve talked a few of my co-hookers into setting up IRAs (and/or solo 401Ks). It would have been much easier if I had those matching funds to entice them. Kevin Slater
  10. Anderson Cooper Will Not Leave A Lot of Money to His Sin I generally spend a lot of money on my sins. Kevin Slater
  11. Hadn't been aware of this til you pointed it out. Apparently I'm already a member. Speaks to its low standards. Kevin Slater

  15. Never. If he’s looked at my profile several times, he’s already well aware of my existence. Besides, I’m not interested in a prospective client I have to cajole through the process. Kevin Slater
  16. A huge percentage of their glowing rentmen reviews come from the same account. I'm starting to sense a pattern... Kevin Slater
  17. I would guess for exactly this reason. You never even met the guy but your nose is out of joint because of an email exchange and you want to submit a bad review? Remember, Daddy never let you review a guy you've never actually met, and that's the right call. Rentmen doesn't need to be in the position of negotiating a bunch of (what's the male equivalent of a Karen?) wanting to rate a service they've never experienced. Kevin Slater
  18. And that goes up as your hearing declines. I hadn't realized it til my doctor pointed it out, but my hearing is better when I wear my glasses. Kevin Slater
  19. It's not that a better offer will come along, it's that the likelihood of a new client actually panning out is inversely proportional to the amount of contact (and the amount of time) beforehand. Especially in a highly visited place like NYC, we get a ton of guys wanting to set something up weeks away (unfortunately often accompanied by a daily text with a new question or request) just to find out, wouldn't you know it, the day of... the trip gets cancelled. The less time out, the more serious I take the booking. If your constraints require you to lock things down weeks in advance, a deposit via Venmo goes a long way to reassuring me that this is actually going to go down. And of course, once we've actually met, I'll take future bookings a lot more seriously. Kevin Slater
  20. Who you calling a fruit? Kevin Slater
  21. I assume he's referring to the indirect cost rate of doing government research. It is common practice for universities to apply an additional fee on top of research grants they receive to cover costs borne but not directly attributable to specific research projects (e.g. library usage, building maintenance, payroll administration). The IDC rate can often be in the 80% range. Kevin Slater
  22. Income from federal bonds is exempt from state and local taxes. Kevin Slater
  23. Perhaps Kiddo or Aiden Ward. Kevin Slater
