  1. They are one and the same. Kevin Slater
  2. Never. If he’s looked at my profile several times, he’s already well aware of my existence. Besides, I’m not interested in a prospective client I have to cajole through the process. Kevin Slater
  3. A huge percentage of their glowing rentmen reviews come from the same account. I'm starting to sense a pattern... Kevin Slater
  4. I would guess for exactly this reason. You never even met the guy but your nose is out of joint because of an email exchange and you want to submit a bad review? Remember, Daddy never let you review a guy you've never actually met, and that's the right call. Rentmen doesn't need to be in the position of negotiating a bunch of (what's the male equivalent of a Karen?) wanting to rate a service they've never experienced. Kevin Slater
  5. And that goes up as your hearing declines. I hadn't realized it til my doctor pointed it out, but my hearing is better when I wear my glasses. Kevin Slater
  6. It's not that a better offer will come along, it's that the likelihood of a new client actually panning out is inversely proportional to the amount of contact (and the amount of time) beforehand. Especially in a highly visited place like NYC, we get a ton of guys wanting to set something up weeks away (unfortunately often accompanied by a daily text with a new question or request) just to find out, wouldn't you know it, the day of... the trip gets cancelled. The less time out, the more serious I take the booking. If your constraints require you to lock things down weeks in advance, a deposit via Venmo goes a long way to reassuring me that this is actually going to go down. And of course, once we've actually met, I'll take future bookings a lot more seriously. Kevin Slater
  7. Who you calling a fruit? Kevin Slater
  8. I assume he's referring to the indirect cost rate of doing government research. It is common practice for universities to apply an additional fee on top of research grants they receive to cover costs borne but not directly attributable to specific research projects (e.g. library usage, building maintenance, payroll administration). The IDC rate can often be in the 80% range. Kevin Slater
  9. Income from federal bonds is exempt from state and local taxes. Kevin Slater
  10. Perhaps Kiddo or Aiden Ward. Kevin Slater
  11. I arrange these frequently (see my twitter, linked below). Sum of each guy's hourly rate x the number of hours you want him. If you want one of the guys to do the arranging, pay him an extra hour for that as well. If you want to stretch your budget, maybe stagger the arrival times by 30 minutes and book each guy for two hours instead of four, perhaps keeping the guy who did the arranging for the whole period. 12. I mean, James Bond only gets two. Kevin Slater
  13. I often have that problem and not sure how I correct it. Have you tried simply highlighting the text, deleting, and posting over it? Kevin Slater
  14. If I were to spend 20 hours waxing poetic on text threads with prospective clients, I might gain one booking. Simply not worth my time. Those who are actually ready to book seem to appreciate directness, and we can be wonderfully engaged during the actual session. Kevin Slater
  15. Bump. Kevin Slater
  16. Any provider worth his salt should be happy to see you, but it never hurts to briefly describe yourself beforehand, especially if it will make you feel more comfortable during the session. Kevin Slater
  17. Rentmen is by far my biggest generator of new clients. The bulk of my revenue, however, comes from clients who originally found me on Rentboy, which speaks to the power of retaining your base clientele. Revenue source 6/1/20 - 6/3/21: % revenue % bookings rentboy 62% 62% rentmen 19% 22% scruff 5% 2% laterslater 5% 5% porn 5% 4% escort referral 1% 2% adam4adam 1% 1% grindr 1% 1% forum >1% 1% friendboy >1% >1% Kevin Slater
  18. Just saw him last week. Still a great guy. Kevin Slater
  19. The screen on the SE is exactly what you’re used to with the 6S. Try the XR, you’ll be impressed. You can actually read the newspaper, for example. It would only cost $49 to replace the battery in your 6S, but I say that’s better applied to a brand new phone ($399 and $499 for the models I’ve recommended). They’ll probably also give you a few bucks to trade in your 6S. It may not be necessary to max your memory any more, as they’re no longer selling phones with ridiculously poor memory. See how much you’re currently using and let that inform your decision on a new phone. I agree with getting an unlocked phone. More flexibility, no downside. Kevin Slater
  20. If you’re extremely budget conscious, the current SE is a perfectly fine phone. For not much more, however, you can get the XR, which gets rid of the bezel, meaning that the entire front of the phone is screen with no border (read: much larger screen in a similarly sized phone). The XR also has a longer lasting battery. Beyond that, you start getting into the fancier cameras and slightly newer chips, neither of which sound important to you. Kevin Slater
  21. Meet with him often. Hotter than ever. Kevin Slater
  22. Actually, it's the same: one death per worker. Kevin Slater
  23. One simple, easy to read book to cover the basics is The Elements of Investing. http://www.amazon.com/The-Elements-Investing-Burton-Malkiel/dp/0470528494 Kevin Slater
