  1. I do see a Tattoo
  2. CBC showed pictures of Lytton this morning. 90% of the town destroyed by the wildfire, at least 2 dead and others unaccounted for. 99 fires out of control in various parts of the province. Not a happy Canada Day for many.
  3. I should preface this by first stating that I am in no way a climate change denier . I was reading an article somewhere that mentioned the latest heatwave and how climate change might be a factor. The scientist explained that he does not doubt that climate change is real, but that climate change may have only added one or two degrees celsius to what would already have been an intense heatwave. So without climate change being a factor, he thinks that the region would have hit 45C or 46C anyway, which is likely a once in a hundred-year event. Climate change likely brought those temps up to 48C and 49C, and may have contributed to the heatwave occurring so early in the summer. Sadly, on the CBC news tonight I saw that the record-breaking town of Lytton BC is currently evacuated due to an out of control wildfire that appears to be sweeping across the town.
  4. I meant to reply to your earlier post that I was glad to hear your mom made it home safely
  5. And don't forget the sensible shoes to go with the sensible thong.
  6. You have a rational, empathetic and approachable character in how you express yourself
  7. Only knew 8 of those... 🤷‍♂️
  8. I heard that parts of BC hit 120F today. And other parts may come close to that tomorrow as the heat dome moves eastward. Some news outlets have reported more than 200 dead so far. I expect most are elderly people living on their own, unaware of cooling centres and too afraid to leave windows open. I don't think it's the daily high temps doing the damage but probably the added humidity and lack of much cooling overnight. And few people have air conditioning in their homes.
  9. That's how it was for me when I was in Vancouver for a few years - it would hit the low 90's a few days each summer, but not for a long enough stretch to make an air conditioner worth the investment or the trouble.
  10. No offence meant to Kevin Hagen, but NOT Doc Baker from Little House on the Prairie.
  11. I agree that Chichen Itza is more impressive as a complex, but I think the setting of Tulum is particularly awesome. Walking around the more modest buildings at Tulum seemed elevated to me, given the location overlooking the Caribbean.
  12. Was watching CBC news tonight. It looks like a little place called Lytton in the Fraser Canyon of BC (about 3hrs drive from Vancouver) broke Canada's all time high temperature on Sunday, when the mercury hit 46.6C (116F). And today they broke their own record by hitting 48C (118F).
  13. Wow... might you elaborate? You can PM me if preferred
  14. I would move to Portwenn in a heartbeat.
  15. Sometimes my father walked a bit funny... I was always under the assumption it was arthritis in his hip, but maybe....? LOL!
  16. That's a heck of a lot to fit in one bag. Sounds like my mom's purse, well, absent all the sex-related stuf. It's great you're so well organized!
  17. It's hard to beat a good gin and tonic or a well-made margarita on the rocks.
  18. He passed away?
  19. I imagine it was an even more popular place before the 'e' was added to the name.
  20. You must have a remarkable memory. To be able to vividly recall a trip you took as a toddler.
  21. I wondered if he was Yugoslav, but that also would not fit... lol
  22. I've done a couple, and they were really good. Sometimes there are slight inconveniences with respect to the ship transitioning its programming from one region to another, but there can also be some good deals on souvenirs in the gift shop as the crew marks down caribbean-focussed merchandise to prepare for European routes, for example. The level of service I found to be the same but perhaps fewer thematic meals - though the food was always fine. Not sure if the demographic on a repositioning cruise is different from regular routes. I enjoy days at sea and repositioning cruises seem to have more of those.
  23. Really? I think his brother has a lot going for him. Sometimes a person can be too picture-perfect. Not that I know that from experience or anything - LOL.
  24. I understand that most supernumerary nipples are found on the chest/torso, but maybe he has one or more on his neck... 😋
