  1. For what it's worth, Happy Belated Birthday
  2. No, I converted it for the post. We use litres, so I multiplied by 3.78 to get the gallon amount.
  3. I would be interested in knowing what made the experience amazing for you - please feel free to PM me if you do not mind doing so.
  4. A couple of days ago I paid the equivalent of $7 CAD per gallon ($5.40 USD) here in Ontario. But my uncle in Vancouver said the price there is hovering at about $8 CAD per gallon ($6.25 USD) out there.
  5. And Mismaloya is absolutely beautiful.
  6. I don't recall ever reading that Buddy Rogers was gay. And I think it was Pia Zadora who purchased Pickfair and then destroyed it. Some might say she did to Pickfair what she also did to some of the shows she was cast in....
  7. I think I read somewhere that without the fresco the price would be less than half of what it is. That's a mighty expensive ceiling. If I were her I would auction the place off with a starting price of $100M just to get rid of it and not have to watch it crumble away. Even if it 'only' achieved $100M, that is still many times more that what anyone realistically needs for a luxurious retirement IMHO.
  8. hmmmmmm.... just be careful
  9. I'm warming up to it too, and looking forward now to each new episode. The acting is not on par with Downton, which seemed so natural and flowing. Baranski is growing on me as well.
  10. Enjoy! Have a fun and safe time
  11. I'm surprised - in the absence of me having any experience in these things I would not have expected any difference in failure rates. Is the activity that much different?
  12. So you're suggesting they may not be Japanese?
  13. Just wondering what you mean by "a different kind of performance"? Thanks!
  14. I have not done this myself, but I think you can purchase a SIM card at your destination and use that for local calls. I'm not all that technologically savvy, so others can probably advise better...
  15. It's going to eat all your porridge before he leaves?
  16. In reading this I would say that you are not the one with the problem. If your approach to initiating a conversation has never ended like this before, I think it is safe to say that your approach does not require a change. You will probably never know what triggered this individual, and I would not waste time wondering if your words contributed in any way to his response. The same for those people who get blocked for looking at a profile or for requesting that photos be unlocked - sometimes things just don't make any logical sense.
  17. Suprisingly not, actually. In the mid-1920s she married some European aristocrat and he took over the management of her career. Big mistake. He persuaded her to leave MGM and that angered Louis B. Mayer, who essentially caused her to be blacklisted in Hollywood. Had that not happened it is likely her career could have continued for several more decades.
  18. But no photos of his Fertile Crescent 😉
  19. That's Canadian dollars - still high but not as bad as it could be.
  20. Not necessarily - he is their son, and while I can't imagine paying for the defence of a child who shot me, perhaps the parental protection instinct outweighs what he did, in their minds. Or maybe there is more to this story that has not been made known yet - perhaps the context is different from what has been reported. Not that violence is an answer, but there could be mitigating issues we haven't been told.
  21. Well said - it surprises and saddens me that you would even need to explain that.
  22. Such an amazing recovery for his parents... great to see that.
  23. A couple of hours outside Toronto it's $1.63 per litre ($6.15 per gallon) right now, which is bad enough, but I was reading the gas hit $1.79 per litre in the Vancouver area where I used to live ($6.75 per gallon)...
  24. "Still sleeping alone"
  25. Hopefully it will encourage others too.
