@AngusStevensxxx, When you say you recieve 'MANY MANY MANY messages daily,' how many would you say you recieve? 10, 20, 100? 
 
Sometimes the platform rent.men doesn't allow you to see all the stats - depending which version of the site you are on.
 
This is GREAT that you do that. But, I have also encountered providers who just list random cities or they are no longer in the city they're listed in. I can't TELL YOU HOW MANY TIMES I have texted a provider "HEY! WOW! I love your look. I can't believe you're in my city, _____. Would love to set up some time with you. What's your availability?" Provider texts back: "Not there." Me: Sends screenshot. Provider: "Yeah, I WAS there but left yesterday" or "Yeah, I was thinking of coming, but not enough inquiries."
So, as much as this "drives you crazy," you can see why a potential client would ask what city were you in, ESPECIALLY, if like me, they have gone through the above in the past. 
A nice reply (that you could save in a notes app) would be "Hey there. Thanks for the message. All cities / dates are listed in my profile and they are updated regularly. Can't wait to see if we can arrange a time. Looking forward to hearing from you." See, same message, different approach than being PUT OFF that someone wants to spend hundreds of dollars to spend time with you.

I started reading your post with sympathy, but then you turned it into a rant about older gay men living in the 80s and 90s, etc. You might want to rethink if that was really necessary. But I do agree if you don’t like what a provider is offering then just move … on no need to provide negative comments unless you have an actual negative experience to report.

If everyone who was in the business of 'sales' were rude like many providers can be, they would make very little money. How many times have you gone to look at a car, at a piece of jewelry, etc. and had a rude sales associate? Not many times. If the sales associate is rude, you are not likely to purchase the product.
Can you even imagine going to look at a high-priced item and after a few moments of questions and back-and-forth, the sales associate goes "GET OUT! STOP WASTING MY TIME, YOU ARE A TIME WASTER!"?
Same goes for people selling their body.

So - I've kind of said this before, but here it is, flat out: why do providers list 'bondage' as a preference, and then when you ask them about it, they literally respond back saying, 'no bdsm please' or "I don't really do bondage".  Then why put it on your preferences list, especially if you don't want to have your time wasted by answering messenger inquiries about your experience, etc.?  The only possible explanation I can muster is that you have the option - upon creating a profile - to 'select all'; but when you've heard from someone like me once or twice, for goodness' sake, remove it from the list!
I guess a lot of you guys run into this problem with kissing, bottoming, topping, etc., and I haven't paid much attention to mis-labeled profiles for all the large range of stuff I'm NOT into; so forgive me for ranting about having to endure your every Tuesday night frustration; but especially with something as - specialized, shall we say? - as bondage, don't put it on there if you aren't at least interested!
And I have to give kudos to two different groups of guys, as follows: first, those who list it and are interested or at least willing to discuss it, even if they don't have gear or experience.  Second, there's some (imho very attractive) guys I've reached out to who do NOT list 'bondage' as a preference HOWEVER they are very willing to talk about it and try it when I described my particular scene and asked nicely.  In fact, I can think of two who had NOT listed 'bondage' as a preference, and then after connecting with me, began to list it as a preference!

So, all that to say: as the 'BEEFCAKES' age out, the newer guys coming up aren't as masculine/manly as what we used to have. 
This is happening in normal society as well. Butch, masculine, manly men are now called TOXIC. Give me a TOXIC man, any day! HA!
