it's been the US and Russia competing but the US solved that by disqualifying Russia from competing. The Olympics should not be political. Making peace for games was the original intent of the olympics. Sad it's devolved into politics.

there's a string of medium size cities there from Krakow, Poland to Ostrava, Czech to Olomouc to Brno to Vienna that are about an hour between each other by car or bus, but sadly only Vienna to Brno is train (nice Austrian OBB). There's even a bus that goes through them from Krakow airport to Vienna airport. Very bucolic and a lot of new vacation homes toward both borders in Czech. but "quiet". Amazing how many porn stars live there. (all the new escorts above live there or grew up there But "quiet". Historically that area was mostly Monrovia and much of Slovakia is just over the border. Why Bel Ami in Bratislava hired so many Monrovians.

I've done that a couple times. In June I was there 2 weeks after 2 weeks in Nice. Vienna is a good base because of so many easy flights to Berlin, Prague, etc, even Nice. Austrian could spif up their planes a little and VIE is an awful old airport. I like the OBB train to Brno but not the rest of the way to Prague. Very long and bushes on both sides. I keep thinking of Brno as a base.

Friends and some of the other couple dozen gay bars are very friendly and warm. (maybe to a fault). There's a huge gay techno club just north of the river (forget the name), and there's probably more fashion models from Czech than anywhere on top of many porn stars working escorting from ads. It's not as uber-pervert as Berlin or black leather as Hamburg or Cologne. But Brits flock to Prague for the party scene and the prices, especially at top restaurants. Slavs never had a concept of boys or men messing around as even being "gay" so it's much less sexually inhibited. Definitions matter. The best lookers are from southern Czech which is beautiful country but less activity of course. Prague attracts many other young slavs from Poland, Ukraine, and Russia as a party center with the almost same language. Of course many of these stunners end up other places.

i googled and it's Tirzepatide (my mistake on the TRI), which is marketed now as Zepbound but it is also marketed as Mounjaro. Indeed, as you say, it seems to be a big improvement. But Trijardy sounds interesting too.

I read that a study showed people who were on Mounjaro lost twice as much as those on Ozempic, so I called my endocrinologist & he's okay with me trying that, as I've hit a bit of a plateau in the weight loss, so he'll submit a prescription 1/2/24, & I'll report back after that... if I'm still alive.
There's a new one that starts with Tri I've heard is amazing in side health benefits.

I think the anxiety has to do with making decisions and information overload more than prices. I'm also used to "fast casual" where the menu's on the wall and has 10 choices, I even hate going places where I don't know the menu well. Duck dishes at le Diplomat and Linguini Lobster Cardinale at Fliomena in DC. Why care about any of the other 50 choices? I get crushed by decision anxiety all the time. And 100% when I "just flip a coin" I end up with the worst decision.

It's always been easy for me to lose weight with jogging and hard work but those days are over and even walking long distances is hard. So I'm awaiting my MD's decision my pre-D is full D and nothing else works. In the meantime I'm eating very healthy to lower triglycerides, but it's almost impossible after a certain age to lose weight normal ways. Your metabolism tanks and exercise is walking upstairs in the house twice a day or shopping at Costco or Ikea.. (My fear is I'll get the Diabetes down to pre-level etc and no longer qualify for the shots on Medicare).
Anyway I read about a new one that starts with a Tri I think that the article said cures so much in addition to weight. So, if I join the shot club that baby is my choice to lose 40 pounds and 20 years. (p.s.- I'm one of those suckers that tries every new miracle fad).

Problem is you get into vested interests of rail unions, AMTRAK, even "smarter growth" people employed by lobbyists or rail and the companies whohave captive control of the the Transportation Dept.
I think transit and pollution both would benefit a lot by having a super high-speed, even an expensive, fast link between Dulles, DCA, BWI, PHL, EWR, and maybe LGA/JFK. It's amazing how many air travelers fly between those airports and it's substantial numbers of connections. IAD or DCA to PHL in 25 minutes or NYC in an hour will never happen by traditional rail and traditional rail made a little faster will not take more of the market than it has from air. .But the vested financial interests will veto like everything else.
