A married couple has no problem with Social Security Survivors Benefits. That includes gay married couples. Well, it is not particular "old money", but it is a tanker, not a barrel, of money; the "john" is only one generation removed from the haberdashery shop which seeded the family's real estate empire. Interestingly, the john first filed for an annulment last year when he discovered that the hire was entertaining young women in his absence in their home; after "meditation" by which the "hire" represented that he "be good" and "not stray from the marriage bed", the john dropped the proceeding. Tell him that in person at your next meeting and show him who you have in mind as a potential 3rd. That may allay any concerns he has about discretion and privacy. If he tells you he only enjoys playing 1-on-1, you’ll spare yourself a mediocre experience.
