Beancounter reacted to Luv2play in CDC issues malaria alert, 5 locally contracted cases reported in USA!
I always drink lots of gin or vodka with tonic water, which is laced with quinine. Staves off malaria marvelously. Never got the disease.

Beancounter got a reaction from Luv2play in CDC issues malaria alert, 5 locally contracted cases reported in USA!
I contracted malaria while serving in the Peace Corps in Africa in the 70s. To be honest, I don’t remember much about having it other than a few chills and a fever. I do remember the doctor telling me there were 3 types of malaria and I had the mildest form. The most severe form was deadly and could kill within 3 days.
As volunteers we were required to take a medication called Aralen. I’m not sure of its efficacy but I think its main ingredient was quinine. After 50 years my memories have faded. I was exposed to so many tropical diseases unknown here in the States that I’m surprised I survived. 😂 Because of these exposures I was told I shouldn’t donate blood for 10 years, though.

Beancounter reacted to marylander1940 in 15 minute rule for providers?
Taking this slightly off topic and seeing the glass half empty, something I don't do when it comes to this wonderful hobby...
The instant gratification combined with goldfish / microwave attention span has taken over most folks under 30, unfortunately it applies to others and not to them who can allegedly can constantly multitask.
I don't understand when an escort is 5 blocks away and I tell him I'm on my way his need to know my exact ETA and the fact that if I tell him I'll be there in 7 minutes he'll be texting me "where are you" in 5 or less minutes because time runs a certain way when it comes to others, but it doesn't apply to them... This need to rush others while "taking your time" is annoying.

You are, of course, welcome to that opinion. I prefer the freedom to make my own choices. Like choosing a credit card over a debit card to benefit from fraud loss limits and insurance coverage.

I saw him a few years ago. Nice guy but a bit loopy. It was an ok if not somewhat unmemorable experience. At that time he looked a lot older than his curated pix.

Beancounter got a reaction from Cooper in Spin-offs
I received WBD spinoff shares from T. Held them for a little while but eventually sold them at a slight loss. I continue to hold the T shares but were I to sell them I would take a substantial loss. I’ve owned T for decades now and simply use the dividends to support this hobby. Of course, my T dividends took a hit after the spinoff as the dividend per share was slashed. Still, the dividends provide more than enough to enjoy several hires a year.

Unrealized Gains Supreme Court Case Could Change Wealth Taxes

Interesting court case on taxation of unrealized capital gains. While this case involves an overseas entity owned by Americans there could be precedence set which affects American assets owned by Americans in the future. As the article points out a large amount of unrealized capital gains is never taxed because beneficiaries receive a stepped up basis when they inherit these assets.

Beancounter reacted to marylander1940 in Titanic Submarine Situation
I've also read that article about Cameron's opinion. He's an expert in the Titanic and deep dive submarines, you and I are not experts, right?
Why do you bring politics?
you still believe January 6th was nothing but tourist walking inside the Capitol. No expert would convince you of something you don't want to see with your own lying eyes.
A snark comment or just plain old envy? Too soon!
Most folks wish their dad was a billionaire or try to become one themselves.
